  1. I wouldn’t be surprised (and also hope for) if a Blue Peter in blue is done at some point this year but may have been too early for today’s announcements as it has only just started mainline testing. Maybe one for the collectors club in the autumn or winter.
  2. Really happy about this one! I will cancel my Glasgow Highlander and have already pre ordered this. Seen them for the first time for real at Key Model World Live today. Whilst the lamps do look a little big, I can live with that for a model of Eric Tracey
  3. A new Mk1 would be interesting. I do wonder if any manufacturer other than Bachmann and Hornby would be able to do this given the amount of variations and liveries they carried and the initial cost of all the tooling etc. Having said that, as Bachmann have upgraded theirs recently and the Hornby’s are not that old it is unlikely at least for now that they would produce another one.
  4. I’ve already cancelled my pre order for The Glasgow Highlander before I saw Sam’s video as I’ve decided to wait and see it in the flesh first. Sam’s review doesn’t fill me with confidence but other reviews have been more favourable. I’m also waiting to see what other versions will come out and if any of the preserved locos do as that would fit in better with my collection.
  5. Will be interesting to see if the current condition blue version will appear in the next set of announcements and think it is a bit of open goal. Would be nice with some upgrades but would happily get it as the model is at the moment.
  6. I’m pretty happy with these announcements personally and have pre ordered the WCRC Mk1 in addition to the 3 previously announced as they will go well with any of the preserved locos I have plus re creating the Jacobite. Looks like there will be a prospect of more to come with other variants being updated. No issue for me the lack of steam given what others have offered/I have or on pre order and maybe this just isn’t there area of focus at the moment - same as Hornby with high spec diesels.
  7. I am hoping to see some more variations or running numbers on the forthcoming WCRC Mk1s or at least an update on what is happening with these. I would also be happy with some Mk1 Pullmans given how hard they are to find new now. There is nothing I’m really expecting locomotive wise given what previous quarterly announcements have been like recently but that’s probably a relief with the amount of pre orders I have/things that have arrived the last couple of months.
  8. I’m not sure if it’s exclusive but can be seen in the previous post that Hornby have a licence for various locomotives that are preserved. Based on Bachman’s recent pattern of releases, I’m not sure I could see them doing either of these however I have been incorrect with my predictions previously plus with the duplications already out there anything is possible! The financially viable aspect is something they would obviously have to consider, as with any new model.
  9. Would it be financially viable for any manufacturer other than Hornby to retool an A3 or A4 considering they have the licence to make Flying Scotsman plus all the preserved A4s? New Mk1s is a good shout though, Bachmann haven’t released any for a while and the WCRC ones were announced ages ago. Hopefully there will be an update on these in the Spring 24 range.
  10. I think in the grand scheme of things it’s better to have another smaller announcement to continue to catch up on previous years. There should still be further releases during the year after all. My wallet will get a bit of a rest however there are still a few things of interest such as the Intercity 08, Black Prince, eastern region Brit and a couple of the era 1 coaches so all is not lost.
  11. Unless I missed something in the video, I did not see if Charlie discussed what solution he had/or would do with his own 37 and the issue with the helix. Whilst it would be irritating, this is the exact reason I do not plan to have any inclines on my layout - or certainly not one that is as grand as his and on the main running line!
  12. I would like to see more items relating to the West Highland Line. Any of the Jacobite black 5s and suitable coaches ie WCRC livery or green/cream and the K1 in LNER green. This could be more popular than any of the K1s have been before in terms of sales. Also the LNER coronation saloon modified and in BR maroon would be great as well.
  13. My predictions are; Dublo Flying Scotsman in current condition with the white roof Dublo A4s in 10th Anniversary of The Great Goodbye A new Dublo locomotive - maybe a Castle as nothing western so far? New rebuilt Merchant Navy Mk 2 coaches in obscure liveries no one has asked for.
  14. Looks amazing. Can’t wait for mine to arrive now
  15. Hopefully they are just sorting through what’s arrived and who has already pre ordered as I have noticed it’s in stock but my order hasn’t been processed yet either
  16. I wonder if some form of Polar Express/illumination train would be viable. Not one necessarily for the purists, but relevant to what’s on preserved railways today and could appeal to newcomers and collectors
  17. I’m prepared to hold in what I would like to see/what I think there might be but only for a few more days!
  18. I think it is a perfectly fine model and is not in any real need of an update anytime soon. I have Oliver Cromwell from the 15 Guinea train pack and is one of my favourite models. It’s well weighted and a great runner. I am hoping to add Britannia itself or one with a Western Region name to my collection should they be released in the future.
  19. Perhaps Ellis Clarke should scale down their O Gauge model! I’m interested to see if any further versions of the new Hornby one are announced this coming January or if they will wait for these ones to hit the shelves first. I’m currently undecided if I’ll go through with my pre order of The Glasgow Highlander but an Eric Tracey or The Lancashire Fusilier would swing it for me regardless of the headlamps.
  20. I would also add another Dublo Flying Scotsman in current condition with the white roof and a new Merchant Navy to that!
  21. Maybe the Oxford Rail brand could be used as the middle ground between the Railroad and the Dublo/high spec stuff. I.E. locos such as the B12, K1, Schools etc to go along the Js already in the Oxford range. This way they can still appeal to modellers and offer some of their solid but unglamorous items hopefully at more Oxford sort of prices.
  22. I think that’s a solid announcement today and is always nice to see a preserved example. There have been plenty of other announcements over the last week or so and it’s not too long now until the Big Bang announcement day in 2024!
  23. Great to see all the main preservation examples produced in the first run. It has to be Dame Vera Lynn for me to bring back the 90’s nostalgia NYMR visits as a child.
  24. For a set of announcements, this is one of the best I’ve seen in a while. The yellow Alfred is a must have.
  25. I don’t think there has been any new Mk1s announced since the WCRC which were about 3 years ago and are still not available yet. Hopefully there will be more than the 3 or so in this livery next year.
