  1. Most of these initiatives in the EU were as a result of uk pressure , one of the things that I'm looking forward twithout the uk ,is the saner legislation from the Eu with no U.K. input. Nearly 60 % of all Eu directives owed their origin to uk pressure. The country contained the most effective eu lobbying machine of all. ( and a very dedicated Brussels civil service Then of course every Ei directive was gold plated and extended by the uk government hidden under the " excuse" that the EU told us. To suggest that cellulose , lead in solder and BA nuts are somehow a function of " Eur'up" is of course without foundation. Just like boris Johnstons " straight bannas " lie. Copperclad is expensive because of the significant rise in all metals. Nothing to do with the EU. bA bolts are expensive because it's a specialist product , requiring particular machinery , a skilled operator and a tiny market
  2. why do people, clearly who are not interested in a topic , then simply post this sort of nonsense. Its almost as if certain people just want to disrupt a thread for the mere sake of doing so. NOONE is forcing you to read or post in this thread , if you feel its a waste of time, there are 100s of other threads that you can waste your valuable time on. I am remind of the " boys " that used to kick our marbles around , just for the laugh of breaking up a game they didnt like
  3. thanks , I have both DCC track and C&L exactoscale , Fasttrack track , and Im waiting for the PECO to make a final comparison my own view is the C&L is very finely detailed, but the web arrangement makes it very difficult to curve nicely and in fact you have to cut each alternative web to get it to flex nicely , whereas the DCC track curves beautifully , as the web is split alternatively side to side the PECO comparison will be interesting In reality at RRP, all are similar priced
  4. anyone got a comparison with DCC and or C&L exact scale fast track versions ?
  5. Indeed , there must be shedloads of 00 point builders to keep all those suppliers in business
  6. I still fail to see how it will take off , without rtr points. Do peco beleive people will mix the new bullhead with existing code 75 flatbottom streamline , or do they expect to attract the 00 track builder , who is already well served at similar prices per yard/metre. In my view mixing the points will produce a track that's looks less realistic then just sticking with the existing range. I build my own pointwork , but at £5 a lemgth , I have several other choices of plain track. I suspect few existing peco streamline users build pointwork.
  7. My understanding is all Peco points irrespective of radius have a 12 degree exit angle ( isn't it 12.5 by the way ? ) and its fundementsl to " peco " geometry allowing crossings to be made of different and mixed radius points but retain identical parallel track centres.
  8. Martin has found the keys to the drinks cabinet and let out the hobby horse . I love this " altered reality " argument
  9. I've driven extensively in the US and id say the UK is far easier , more rule abidance, and actually generally slower speeds ( caused by all that traffic ) I don't live in the uk and it constantly amazes me how density populated it is and all those people are in cars in the summertime. Personally a summer driving holiday to tourist traps thorough the southern UK is a nightmare not a holiday. Even if my honeymoon was a driving holiday in the uk
  10. I had a decent talk with the peco person about the point. Firstly it's very much an EP. He mentioned that there is a significant challenge designing it to be suitable for moulding. So I suspect the final article could be quite different. The one in the case looked 3D printed to me He confirmed geometry will be identical to existing code 75 FB. So presumably all the various " gaps " will be also indentical
  11. Sorry to butt in on a 7mm thread I had a demonstration of them and assembling them at Warley yesterday. Nice but on 4mm wagons with clasp brakes , it would be a difficult fit. The lack of delayed action is a killer though and hence I won't use them. I have dinghams but find in 4mm they are very fiddly and I get slop in the hoop pivot , also they are very limited on things like 40' bogie container flats etc. By next experiment will be S&W , ultimately I'd like dcc controlled locos uncoupling , as loco "run rounds" are the main activity that requires uncoupling
  12. Looking at the peco plain track in the flesh at warley , the chair detail looks far less detailed then the " addvertising " brochure pictures. But it's still a good representation. No idea of retail pricing The point is at least a year away According to peco
  13. I have planned layouts in trax3 , I wouldn't regard it in the same breath as Templot however. Trac3 is like Anyrail , primary for " set track " type planning.
  14. Strangely however , railways have been nationalised before. Your piece reads like that never happened , given the current costs to the state anyway , it's likely that a nationalised system wouldn't look much different tax wise
  15. I just miss " the constructor " , that mag was my inspiration, when I was younger , I always looked down on RM !!!!
  16. I'm just starting in 00-SF and this is one of the finest examples I've seen. I know you mentioned the track and ballast painting /weathering , but could you go over the colours and sequence used. Thank you for pictures of a fantastic layout Dave
  17. I was only ever given Toblerone when sick as a child. My two bothers usually got to it first. !
  18. I wish you all the best Gordon, I think at this stage you're the patron saint for modellers trying and failing. I do hope this the "one" Dave
  19. only in the UK of course, Toblerone remains the same elsewhere !!!
  20. I suspect that the economies of Peco production will mean they will price under DCC and C&L. Id expect a £4/length type pricing from box shifters
  21. we are after all in a "post-truth " era , so we are all entitled to present our opinions, on social media , as if they were actual fact , have everyone believe them as received truth , but in fact we can deny any such "opinion" as merely rhetoric when the real facts begin to emerge. its the way of the modern world !!!
  22. I knew there was a reason not to change from 00 to P4 , confusing the track with EM , and laying miles of the wrong stuff. Horrid . Never catch on this em/p4 stuff. If God wanted scale wheels ...........
