  1. Good spot. Although, the cab is possibly not cut down (which might be right, Yeadon's doesn't say when they got modified although it must be after 1925 (named) but before 1936-8 (general repairs, prob got cab mod earlier if date on pic from Flickr is correct) anybody got RCTS LNER engines Part 2A?). As built, the cab roof was originally in line with the cab ventilator and the cab side grab rail was originally inline with the short one along the firebox, but when modified to suit composite loading gauge the cab was lowered identifiable by ventilator sticking up, and grab rails not lining up. From the image, it looks like it is a bit lowered but only a bit so could be camera angle. This may of course change on the production run models compaired to these publicity shots. Same goes for the lining. Hopefully, the standard is as good as the batch they released in 2022 (Knight of Thistle and Doncaster) . Toying with the idea of an identity change to 2573 to become 2750 Papyrus although cab cutouts are wrong for the year I would like and reverser rod is in on the wrong side. I'm supprised they've not done her before but I'm sure they'll do her at some point, probably the 100th aniversay of 108mph in 2035! This one below though..... *lust*
  2. I'm a bit worried if management found this out. I would surely end up buried under the patio when she twigged I had some of those carriages!
  3. I agree, certainly the info I've seen would suggest that they are basically the same. I just wondered if there was something that I had missed which was published elsewhere on one of the many, many social media / retailer outlets, some wizzy thing that could explain the difference:- Vapour generator, triple tone simultaneous syncopated exhaust chuff sounds, dilithium crystal energiser, flux capacitor, chameleon circuit or similar. I didn’t want to ask Hornby in case their pricing was wrong and they put it up on the offending A1! Unless any other information comes to light, the price difference is just one of life’s many curiosities!
  4. Sorry, didn't see this last night! I agree. LOL. Although the joke might be on me - I've got two plastic ones and never noticed it! Dare I check?! 😬 Could be. Further thoughts to follow.
  5. Apologies, I don't understand your answer. "Yes" = there are feature differences? If so what?
  6. Well, the LNER were always short of money...
  7. Yes, I am sure you correct, but are there any feature differences that explain the price difference?
  8. Oooh, purple name plates! Did you repaint the originals or purchase alternatives? If so please could you advise where you got them from? Meanwhile, back on topic: very much looking forward to the TPE sets! The Caledonian sets are just magic and are my best OO rolling stock (apart from my other Accurascale made rolling stock)
  9. Hello All, Regards the two LNER liveried Gresley pacifics which are not Flying Scotsman (Nu) "Hornby Dublo" or A4s:- R30270 - Class A1 No. 4478 "Hermit" - "Big 4 Celebration range" - List price £218.99 - ETA Q3/4 2023 R30216 - Class A3 No. 2573 "Harvester" - "Main Range" - List price £252.99 - ETA Q3/4 2023 https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-class-a1-4-6-2-4478-hermit-big-four-centenary-collection-era-3-r30270?_br_psugg_q=r30270 https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-a3-class-no2573-harvester-diecast-footplate-and-flickering-firebox-era-3-r30216 Is anybody aware of a specification difference between the models, aside that obviously the A1 has short travel valvegear and 180psi boiler vs. the A3 long travel valve gear and a 220psi boiler? EDIT: and cab cut outs! I am motivated to ask this as there is a price difference. They both seem to have the same features (dicast running plate, fire LED, 21 pin DCC, 5 pole motor, tender, proper green livery etc) and I assume that they use the same chassis and body tooling accept a couple of tweaks for the A3's valve gear and super heater covers. Many thanks!
  10. Thats the sort of stout that could really straighen all the curves, throw out all the fire and break a crank axle! Edit: Just be wary of anyone called Thompson claiming they can improve it / make it go more places...
  11. So it is poseable in an upright without being powered up? Apologies for dumb questions: very much looking forward to seeing it in the flesh!
  12. Presumably there is digital traffic from the decoder going to the micro on the PCB that is operating the motor to drive the pantograph
  13. Thats a good idea. Does it have any sensors / potentiometer to know what position it is in? Also, is it possible to manually move the pantograph without damaging the mechanism?
  14. Ah, that could be an attempt at inertial confinement! That must have been spectacular to see in person. I love that the buffers from 46009 are on display in the warehouse at the NRM https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co537901/two-locomotive-buffers-locomotive-buffers Also, found these pictures which I had previously not seen: http://www.nigeltout.com/html/crash-test-old-dalby.html Anyhoo, back, err, on track: loving the pics of the class 92s. Would love to see more from any new owners! Here are some lovely pictures from Colin J Marsden's Dawlish Trains http://www.dawlishtrains.com/class-92.html
  15. OK Mike, Thanks for the reply. Have a great Christmas!
  16. Heard a news report today about some success with nuclear fusion... @adb968008 have you put too many class 92s and class 55s in one location and accidentally intiated gravitaional confinement?!
  17. Hello @Revolution Mike @Revolution Ben, please could you advise when these are likely to go to the retailers? Many thanks!
  18. Beginning to regret not committing to give the mk5 coaches a matching 92010. At the time, the internal monologue went: Run them with 92032. This is fine. You don't need another class 92. You don't even do not steam engines. Who would do this? @McC: Any chance of a profile of 92038 please?
  19. That is a universally applicable maxim. Athough, it would definitely get me into trouble in a Benny Hill way!
  20. Wow! That is going to be a wonderful fleet! Good thinking on the order. *Edit: Just realised how early in the game you were here! Was looking at these pictures and thinking perhaps Santa's elves were getting some practice in before the big day
