  1. There used to be a wye junction at Denham with the branch from Uxbridge, there is another just outside Cannon street station.
  2. There is a tiny amount of plastic in the frog, but it isnt noticeable. But once laid it becomes invisible.
  3. To help anyone concerned about the wiring of these points, these are the instructions included with them. You can use them as an insulfrog point straight from the box, or you can add a accessory switch to use it like an electrofrog. NO modifications to the point are needed for either use. The only thing that needs to be clarified is that when used on a DC layout, these points do not isolate one track from the other. Both routes are live together, so to isolate a train in a siding for example, section switches will be needed for that section of track.
  4. You said: Which as I said doesn't apply to the unifrog points, the frog is already isolated from everything else. Posting that link for electrofrog wiring will just confuse people looking for info on these points, as no wires need to be cut.
  5. So have I. The frog is already isolated from everything else, and the point blades are not used as contacts, so why are you cutting the bonding strips?
  6. That's for wiring an electrofrog point, doesn't apply to a unifrog.
  7. Your correct on all points. The frog itself is isolated from the rest of the point, and has it's own feed wire to make it live. Because of this you dont need to use IRJ's like the old electrofrog points needed. Both routes are live at all times out of the box, so ideal for dcc. The point blades are not used for conductivity, but are bonded to the stock rails.
  8. If those 4 sidings are long enough you could add 3 more, or make the existing 4 longer.
  9. You can also build it this way which keeps the sidings longer, but means the locos must shunt onto the scenic section.
  10. Do you actually need to have a runaround in the sidings? You could run the train into the yard with a loco, uncouple it, then pull it back out with another.
  11. I cant get the actual board out till the weekend, but here are some old points laid out for you.
  12. It only works with the large radius Y points, which are the same length as a normal medium radius point. they have a shallower angle which lines up perfectly. Print a pair of those off and it will all come together. Those short y points have a much too sharp angle to be used in sidings, but are usefull for building a center loco release between terminus platforms.
  13. Thanks for the link, those are a little out of my budget but I'd love to have one.... or 4! I've been collecting some of the old lima Australian models over this year, having become hooked watching the old EMD's working their guts out on youtube. For a uk domestic version of the L class, I thought about mounting a cut-and-shut Dapol prototype deltic body onto a Hornby class 31 chassis. Would just need an appropriate roof section making up.
  14. That looks just what I need, hopefully it comes out early next year.
  15. The double slip replaces the two tracks, I have this setup on the imperial gate layout. Only one train can enter or exit the yard at a time, but all roads can be accessed by either track.
  16. Anyone have any news as to when this is going to be released? My old peco catalogue said 2018 but I haven't seen anything about it since?
  17. That's going to be good, is there any way of getting the kingsway models escalator kit in there anywhere?
  18. A little something I'd like to try to make someday, the English electric built L class overhead electric locos for Australia. But just assuming that BR ordered some, modified to fit our loading gauge using Deltic bodywork.....
  19. With only 20cm width you are limited to 4 tracks, but you can get an extra 20cm siding length by changing the entrance points around to a double slip and 2 large y points. This means that only one train can enter or exit at a time, but is a space saver. You might gain a little more length using y points at the top end as well, but it wont be a lot.
  20. The red box on your map is the Smithfield end of the station, the trains coming into the market would make a rather quick reversing move to enter the depot. Whitecross depot being the other end, trains could run directly in to that.
  21. There is this one floating about of the first floor. https://www.scienceandsociety.co.uk/results.asp?image=10700134&itemw=4&itemf=0001&itemstep=1&itemx=1
  22. Have a read of this: https://machorne.wordpress.com/2019/05/01/prisons-and-the-metropolitan-railway/
  23. Tonight I'll dig out a link to a goldmine of info regarding white cross street, has some pics and history of the site.
  24. The trains went through aldersgate station, then took a right turn into the depot. The loco's would have to be small tank loco's as they needed to cross wagon turntables inside the depot lower level.
  25. These vans never wore this livery, though since the correct tranfesea van is not available I wouldn't worry about it. I've got a rake of seven that get dragged about by a 73 and they bring a bit of color to the layout.
