  1. I jokingly told her it was my new alarm clock, I wont post her reply to that!
  2. Just finished catching up with this thread, you've really captured the look of this corner of London. The latest pics have a wonderful atmosphere to them. The air raid siren is a nice touch, if anyone wants detailed pics of these I have one in my workshop.
  3. I haven't had much to do with the tillig items if I'm honest, the slip is the only one I have encountered. The slip I have is switched via the wire in a tube method using a sprung switch, simple but effective.
  4. Hi Phil. The tiling slip joins up to normal code 75 without a problem, there is a slight difference in rail height but it isnt that noticeable. The sleeper spacing is what gives the game away. I have got the complete track layout down and wired on a 6x2ft board with a view to building something that loosely represented the milk dock area in the mid 80's. It is quite fun to operate but is on the back burner whilst I complete some other projects.
  5. Now this is going to be good, one of my fave place's to stop for a nose about when in London. Can I suggest that you build the layout with a possible extension in mind, the various bridges carrying the depot tracks and roads over the district line is a scene in itself.
  6. That looks great, I really should make progress with mine.
  7. Thanks Dave, at the moment the canopy itself is just a shell, once I've added some lattice support beams from plastistrut I'll take a few pics. It's made from a pack of wills SSMP229 felt and batten sheets, with the valancing from the ratio canopy kit. There is more to add to it yet, so watch this space.
  8. I will get more pics up but I've reached my limit for now.
  9. Had a bit of time today, so made some progress on this. The platform is now painted and weathered, and the subway is fitted in place. The buildings themselves have gained a base coat of white, and the canopy is in primer. I think it's taking shape nicely. I took these pics outside on the window ledge while the paint was drying off.
  10. Looks great, do you have any pics before the footbridge and canopy were removed? Also what's the size of this layout please? I'm guessing the scenic section to be around 6ft?
  11. So I've been doing a little cut and shut job on these, this is the result of three kits combined into one building and one built as per the kit. I will add more details once I have put some paint on. I've also started a flat roof style of canopy to cover these and a subway entrance up from street level.
  12. Many thanks for that, that is quite a useful website. Any pointers where I might find color details for the 80's period?
  13. Dose anyone know the colors these would have been painted in the late 60's - early 70's period? I'm guessing white wood rather than the grey plastic the kit is in.
  14. The Hobby shop have these kits on offer at the moment, so I've bought 3 more along with a peco subway and some wills parts. I think I'm going to keep the width as it is so it fits on the wills platforms I have, and just join a few wall sections into a longer structure. Will post up some pics of what I come up with. I did look at scratchbuilding but the cost of decent doors and windows rules this out, I did considor using the parkside/ratio lnwr sectional parts but they would look a little out of place for this model. I will try those on a later project though.
  15. I quite like the look of these being based on an LSWR timber structure but it is rather small and narrow, has anyone kit bashed a few of these into a larger structure? The bottom pic is platform 8 Clapham junction, and is the sort of size I was thinking of.
  16. Best place for those molded plugs is in the skip, the older style which has a proper brass screw to clamp the cable is safest.
  17. For anyone who has molded plugs that feel warm. https://youtu.be/GVy6LcqjZLU?list=PLVsHvs2Suqmoq4luzXWYr_zS4NiiRnUx5
  18. I'm looking for a few of these to chop about, condition and colour not important as long as the body sides are intact. Please get in touch if you can help, cash or paypal waiting. Cheers, Simon.
  19. Was that the reason eps had the two class 73's on the books, as I always thought they were an odd choice as a rescue loco?
  20. I do wonder if these trains ever saw diesel working? I've seen pics of class 15 and 24 on other workings but not these.
  21. Certainly is! It would make a great layout, the goods depot is straight from the peco overall roof...
  22. Aha, that would explain it then. I didn't realize that there were two sites, I always thought it was the same place referred to by a different name! Thanks for the pointers to the OS maps, I'll have a hunt around on those. Edit: looking at those maps I cant believe how much used to be there compared to what is there now.
