  1. I've borrowed this pic from the excelent metadyne website http://www.metadyne.co.uk/index.html it shows the difference in height that required that arrangement.
  2. Hi all. Following on from the freight on the underground thread, does anyone have pictures or info about the goods/coal yard at west brompton? We know the coal trains came in via the district line, but what about the other traffic? I presume there was connection to the west london line at some point? Many thanks.
  3. Looks good, but I think the colour lights add to the atmosphere a little better. Perhaps leave the platform starters as colour lights and use semaphores further out, gives a little variety that way. Fantastic layout, certainly a source of inspiration for me.
  4. Dont forget that modeling these trains gives you the reason to include one of the more obscure items of railway signaling, the distant disc signal. Certainly something I plan to include on my layout. Edit: For those that have never seen one before here is a pic.
  5. Thanks, that's the sort of thing I'm after. Google turns up lots of pics of trains, but few showing the buildings themselves.
  6. Does anyone have any pics of the island platform buildings at Willesden high level they can share? I can find pics of trains but not the station itself. What I have seen reminds me of the peco manyways office kit...
  7. That's a bit short sighted. It makes sense if the branch is to be operated how it is now, but surely as Chiltern were planing to integrate the branch into an existing service from High Wycombe it would be far easier?
  8. I have seen reference to the possibility of a platform built to serve the former up main, should the need arise.
  9. Was that you at the very back of the train? I thought I saw the guard going back and forth. The reason it run's non stop to Wycombe, is Chiltern use a Marylebone to High Wycombe ECS working to form the Paddington service. IIRC the eventual plan is that Chiltern take over the Greenford branch service, but extend it to run from West Ealing to the bay at High Wycombe. The bay at Greenford will no longer be needed as it can only handle a short train, Chiltern will serve South Greenford station and then interchange with the central line at Ruislip. This will give Chiltern a direct interchange with Crossrail at West Ealing, Chiltern using platform 5 and a new platform 6 built on the old milk dock.
  10. Took a spin on this today, good to see the old semaphores at Greenford still standing.
  11. How about 47702 in weathered Mainline freight blue? I cant take credit for the repaint on this, bought on ebay with damage to the cabs which I've repaired. I think it looks great, and can normally be found top and tailing a ballast train with my NSE 47711.
  12. PM sent, I'd like to see some some epb's scuttle about on that.
  13. Hi all, looking for a few of these to hack about so don't need to be perfect. Please get in touch if you have any you wish to sell. Cheers, Simon.
  14. Hi Pete, here's a link to the full range of components: https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/HOScaleModular I ordered my parts through rails of Sheffield, they dont keep stock so takes a few days to arrive. Easy to use and glues easily with Humbrol poly cement.
  15. 80's southern region right up my street. Following this with intrest.
  16. Thanks Charlie, some good info there. Those house's you've built in that thread do look the part. I thought I'd have a practice on an old Hornby/triang bridge, this one was a later version moulded in the brown plastic. First a few light coats in Halfords khaki beige colour, then dry-brushed in a few differing shades of humbrol brown. I decided to try picking a few bricks out in different colours, but I'm not happy with how they came out. The base coat of khaki worked well though.
  17. Not quite, diesel smoke testing depends on the year of the vehicle and if it should have a cat or not. Excessive smoke will fail the test, but you are allowed a fair bit. If you put your car in for mot before the old test has expired, and it fails, the car is classed as un-roadworthy and any remaining mot is void.
  18. So you found one particular loco that has a problem with these points, but yet was never designed to run on them?
  19. Hi all, I've not yet had the chance to go to Pecorama in person, but whist watching a video by another forum member it showed a small modern image layout called Bostin Parkway. It was only shown for a few seconds but looked quite interesting, does anyone have more details about this layout? Cheers.
  20. Hi Guys, Anyone have some pointers for a good paint colour to represent London yellow brick? Currently building a few walthers kits to use as a backscene, and I want to "get the London look" as she said.
  21. Code 75 and 100 FB track use's identical sized sleepers, Bullhead track sleepers are about 2.5mm wider. Also another happy user of the points here, no shorting with Hornby 31's and Heljan 23's.
  22. The lights in hotel curve tunnel seem to have still been in use till the end, they are on in the railtour vid from 76.
  23. Without seeing one I couldn't say, but it's probably possible to retrofit the bsi couplings to the older models. Or do a chassis swap with the non driving cars, so put the newer unpowered bsi chassis under an older vehicle and couple them that way.
  24. looking forward to this, I'll take a couple of 2 car units in nse please.
