  1. Many thanks for that, that is quite a useful website. Any pointers where I might find color details for the 80's period?
  2. Dose anyone know the colors these would have been painted in the late 60's - early 70's period? I'm guessing white wood rather than the grey plastic the kit is in.
  3. The Hobby shop have these kits on offer at the moment, so I've bought 3 more along with a peco subway and some wills parts. I think I'm going to keep the width as it is so it fits on the wills platforms I have, and just join a few wall sections into a longer structure. Will post up some pics of what I come up with. I did look at scratchbuilding but the cost of decent doors and windows rules this out, I did considor using the parkside/ratio lnwr sectional parts but they would look a little out of place for this model. I will try those on a later project though.
  4. I quite like the look of these being based on an LSWR timber structure but it is rather small and narrow, has anyone kit bashed a few of these into a larger structure? The bottom pic is platform 8 Clapham junction, and is the sort of size I was thinking of.
  5. Best place for those molded plugs is in the skip, the older style which has a proper brass screw to clamp the cable is safest.
  6. For anyone who has molded plugs that feel warm. https://youtu.be/GVy6LcqjZLU?list=PLVsHvs2Suqmoq4luzXWYr_zS4NiiRnUx5
  7. I'm looking for a few of these to chop about, condition and colour not important as long as the body sides are intact. Please get in touch if you can help, cash or paypal waiting. Cheers, Simon.
  8. Was that the reason eps had the two class 73's on the books, as I always thought they were an odd choice as a rescue loco?
  9. I do wonder if these trains ever saw diesel working? I've seen pics of class 15 and 24 on other workings but not these.
  10. Certainly is! It would make a great layout, the goods depot is straight from the peco overall roof...
  11. Aha, that would explain it then. I didn't realize that there were two sites, I always thought it was the same place referred to by a different name! Thanks for the pointers to the OS maps, I'll have a hunt around on those. Edit: looking at those maps I cant believe how much used to be there compared to what is there now.
  12. I've borrowed this pic from the excelent metadyne website http://www.metadyne.co.uk/index.html it shows the difference in height that required that arrangement.
  13. Hi all. Following on from the freight on the underground thread, does anyone have pictures or info about the goods/coal yard at west brompton? We know the coal trains came in via the district line, but what about the other traffic? I presume there was connection to the west london line at some point? Many thanks.
  14. Looks good, but I think the colour lights add to the atmosphere a little better. Perhaps leave the platform starters as colour lights and use semaphores further out, gives a little variety that way. Fantastic layout, certainly a source of inspiration for me.
  15. Dont forget that modeling these trains gives you the reason to include one of the more obscure items of railway signaling, the distant disc signal. Certainly something I plan to include on my layout. Edit: For those that have never seen one before here is a pic.
  16. Thanks, that's the sort of thing I'm after. Google turns up lots of pics of trains, but few showing the buildings themselves.
  17. Does anyone have any pics of the island platform buildings at Willesden high level they can share? I can find pics of trains but not the station itself. What I have seen reminds me of the peco manyways office kit...
  18. That's a bit short sighted. It makes sense if the branch is to be operated how it is now, but surely as Chiltern were planing to integrate the branch into an existing service from High Wycombe it would be far easier?
  19. I have seen reference to the possibility of a platform built to serve the former up main, should the need arise.
  20. Was that you at the very back of the train? I thought I saw the guard going back and forth. The reason it run's non stop to Wycombe, is Chiltern use a Marylebone to High Wycombe ECS working to form the Paddington service. IIRC the eventual plan is that Chiltern take over the Greenford branch service, but extend it to run from West Ealing to the bay at High Wycombe. The bay at Greenford will no longer be needed as it can only handle a short train, Chiltern will serve South Greenford station and then interchange with the central line at Ruislip. This will give Chiltern a direct interchange with Crossrail at West Ealing, Chiltern using platform 5 and a new platform 6 built on the old milk dock.
  21. Took a spin on this today, good to see the old semaphores at Greenford still standing.
  22. How about 47702 in weathered Mainline freight blue? I cant take credit for the repaint on this, bought on ebay with damage to the cabs which I've repaired. I think it looks great, and can normally be found top and tailing a ballast train with my NSE 47711.
  23. PM sent, I'd like to see some some epb's scuttle about on that.
  24. Hi all, looking for a few of these to hack about so don't need to be perfect. Please get in touch if you have any you wish to sell. Cheers, Simon.
