It spends a lot of its spare time at East Lancs.
I turned up there one cold winters day and got 34092 and 60009 running on one occasion. !
A quick look online suggests its mainline ticket runs out in April, but may be extended until July, though at 7 years I presume it may be able run a bit longer on preserved lines, assuming it holds out.
The East Lancs website does post a loco roster. It doesn't yet show what is running on Feb 2nd & 3rd onwards. http://www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk/

Good day to bury some bad news re delays to expected programme of new releases in 2019.

Hi
I'm fairly certain the two younger chaps in my household would like a trip behind an A4. I think only 60009 is in ticket at present. Does anyone know whether 60009 will be running on any of the preserved lines this spring/summer? Not sure I want to take a 3 and 7 year old on an all day mainline run!
David
60009 is at The North Yorks Railway in late March, and early April.

The race is under the bridge at Connel Ferry. I've watched a coaster shoot that on a falling tide like a kayak .
Thanks for the correction of my mistake. I appreciate the engineering of Connel Bridge even more having seen that aerial view.

I really enjoyed reading your blog postings on this line. I hadn't realised that the tidal race at Ballachuish was so violent. That aerial shot was an eye opener.
This is the third of three posts planned to cover the Ballachulish Branch. It includes the final length of the line approaching Ballachulish, some details about the quarries and a November 1950 article about the line which has been taken from The Railway Magazine of that date. -
noticed a BBC piece on Ulster Model Railway Club - highlights some of the skills of building a layout.

It does have good Stanier coches in LMS livery but don’t hold your breath for blue/red and gold.Be content with the plain variety for now. You can also use GWR Colletts btw.on North to West trains to and from Shrewsbury.
I wonder if they did a Crewe, Shrewsbury, Wellington, Stafford test runs?
-
The blog also linked to a video of Sir Francis Drake in SR Olive livery, will Hornby have coaches to match?
It would be a pity if Hornby didn't release accurate LMS coaches to run with the Caledonian Blue Pacific.

I saw one of those in Green at Kidderminster Station last night in Bachmann's display cabinet. It looked impressive. Unfortunately there was no battery power left in the camera when I saw it. Perhaps another SVR visitor might have taken a shot.

Was intrigued by this, and looked for some photos, and found this on warwarkshirerailways.com

The trade prices have been announced. All three are TBA. Same as the retail price. That leaves us staring down the barrel.....................
Our nearby retailer may have jumped the gun with their price.
I'll get me coat......
Not often that a model of this calibre appears. You might have to shell out to buy it, though you might want to wait for a magazine review.

Enjoyed the programme, plenty on engineering skills, problem solving, team work, motivation and management techniques. Had a brief look on Twitter and noticed a large number of very positive comments about tonight's episode.
That trestle bridge building was a highlight.

Dick Strawbridge made his TV debut on Scrapheap Challenge when he was an REME officer - I never forgot his team putting a gearbox in the wrong way round in a drag racer!
I have heard a recording about the Dreamy REME and a gearbox.

Continuation of The Airfix workbench blog appears to be a feature for 2018.

I had thought that The Engine Shed blog was worth continuing.

I read a book by an officer who had been on PoW during that sortie. He described how when it was dry docked on it's return they went under it and found a hole below the water line. They crawled through it, then through, I think, two other similar sized holes in two more bulkheads in the double bottom. In the last compartment they found an unexploded 15" shell from the Bismark, right under the aft turret magazine. He also commented on the good work done by the builders staff to keep the guns firing during the encounter.

Thanks for posting that, after reading itI had a look for details, this link from HMS Hood Association, has photographs and descriptions of the damage to PoW.

Don't ask French Navy about the problems with their carrier Charles De Gaulle. The link considers HMS Queen Elizabeth's propeller shaft problem with some other ships.

It also mentions HMS Prince of Wales going to sea to fight Bismarck without fully functional main guns.

In the summer, a Bristol Scout was exhibited outside The Royal West of England Academy. I watched it being assembled prior to its day in the sun.
This is about the rebuilding of the aircraft. It has been flying at The Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire, and there are clips on youtube.

One of the carriages was on display in the forecourt of the British Museum in 2001.
For those interested in old cars.

Saw 2 Austin A40 last week. I think someone has a new project.
