I am an admitted heathen - I drink a basic blend (Grouse, Bells etc) whatever is on offer in the supermarket with ice and ginger ale, but that is what I like, I have been bought many Malts in the past and they are nice (except Laphroiag) put don't get the tasting notes etc, I am pretty much surrounded by the stuff at work in Dumbarton, I pass the Auchentoshan Distillery, Ballantynes Bonded warehouses and work next door to the Chivas Regal bottling plant.
Jim
I always remember looking out for the geese at the Ballantynes' warehouses. Was surprised they retired the flock, great marketing for the place.

I've got several in the cupboard and No2 son usually brings one for Christmas. At the moment we still have some Glengoyne cask strength that we bought when we toured the distillery a couple of years ago. It does go down very nicely indeed.
Jamie
I've always liked Glengoyne, and like Jamie92208 I can recommend their distillery tour. It does make a change from the Islay malts.

A week ago, I saw a goldcrest in the front garden for the first time. Stood and watched it feeding on the shrubs. Haven't seen any fieldfares or redwings.

Absolutely fabulous modelling. Always enjoy reading about Ron Hegg's project.

Are they in a sponsorship deal with Carling?
Or Mr Jonathan Walker?

Yesterday Ian Riley posted some photographs of the engine being gauged by Balfour Beatty on The Works forum.

Indeed, the bag of goodies is just vac pipes and a NEM coupling for the front.
Video of mine on Facebook here, no idea who will be able to see it though!
It appears to have quite a large gap between the tender & first wagon. What sort of coupling does the 9F have. Liked your video, seems to run well.

Preparatory work in Bath at Sydney Gardens on drains, with some sound proofing on railings above the parapets. Trackbed work starts on Monday. A couple of shots of the test train and the site.

I looked at this thread a few minutes ago, which reminded me about reading about C o T to Bird Conversions in The Airfix Magazine.
A subsequent internet search took me back to another RM thread which mentioned a series of articles from 1967-8.

And now for something completely different...

It is absolutely wonderful piece of architectural modelling, always inspirational.

I remember seeing large numbers of withdrawn locomotives in or near Glasgow, but I've real idea where it was.

From Hornby's website: GWR 4-6-0 ‘Caerphilly Castle’ 4073 Class - NRM - R3237
The 360 view might help.

Just had an email saying Hornby are to release an unrebuilt MN.
OK, we feel we teased you enough yesterday. So without further ado, we are proud to announce, for 2016 the Unrebuilt Merchant Navy! More information here:

Produce and be damned...to misquote the Iron Duke.
Duplication is a business risk, but are they aiming at the same segment of the market? Let modellers decide which one is the one they want to buy. It is possible that Hornby can design a great model, but can they supply the customers with them at the right quantity, at the right time at the right price. Their recent record has been disappointing both in the reliability of assembly and the continuity of supply.

If reports are to be believed, it seems to have finally got him the sack (at last), although way too late to make any difference this season.
It's been "thrilling" to watch Leicester for the last eight home games - P8 W1 D1 L6 GF 3 GA 9.
Looks as if he is still in harness.

When might the posts start appearing in Bath & Bristol?

Downton Abbey ended its last series at Christmas 2015, most episodes screened after 9.00 pm. Hornby bring out a junior train set for Christmas 2016 with a Downton Abbey locomotive.
It reminds me of that fiasco The Great Gathering at the NRM, with Hornby sponsorship but no model A4s for sale. Might make a good case study for a university on the consequences of poor market research.
