  1. My 7800 just arrived from TMC.

Thankfully the combo of TMCs packing and the big loco box meant the loco got to me intact despite the best efforts of the DPD driver after dropping it twice.

Fitted a Dapol imperium decoder as its the only one i had to hand. Firebox glow works well and the loco runs nice with it installed.

I did find it a bit of a faff getting the tender body off tho as there seems to be pipework attached to both the body and the chassis so in the end i just lifted the body up enough to get to the DCC socket without removing it completley.

The manual only mentions the 4 screws so might be worth bearing in mind not to yank at the tender top to remove it

EDIT : Just took it off the track to put it on the program track and it ran by itself in my hand for a few seconds. Im guessing this is the stay alive discharging.

That brings us back to where we started... Hornby have sent out an email to those ordering the future models via the Hornby website , saying their orders have been cancelled.

And, yes, I do believe that signals that those models are going to be cancelled, and will never appear.

I cannot imagine the new regime at Margate signing off production of a J26 when they have J27s they can't shift stuck in the warehouse. Not when they have signalled that they intend to make what sells, not what doesn't. Reallocate those production slots to TT:120....

I can also imagine a conversation at Margate "So why do you want to make this 35T tanker? We're already doing the TTA in OO. We've got the Oxford 10T . Why do we need this???" "Oh, we used to do it in Airfix? Then re-run that as a Classic. Oh, we sold the moulds cos it was limited production/low sales...?"

That might be misplaced thinking, but I can certainly imagine that's how a new "sales-driven" regime looking at this project might think.

The Oxford Rail 10T tank wagon has been given the thumbs up - they've duplicated it in TT:120 . That might have a future in the main Hornby range, as might the open wagon

What we do not know is how the pre-orders are split between the Hornby and Oxford websites . If most of them are through the Hornby site - and that must have a far greater market reach - cancelling the Hornby site pre-orders might go a long way to terminating the project

I don't doubt that an awful lot of the Hornby inventory bulge is not Oxford Rail (Some of it is LMS suburbans, J15s and D16/3s... all Hornby models). But I reckon Oxford has been a noticeable part of the problem , so closing down the Rail side of Oxford makes sense

Ive been after a J15 and i dont see them on the Hornby site. Cant really find anywhere with them but i di remember them being very cheap a while back

  3. Thanks. What i was planning to do with the frog juicers and the distribution blocks for the track droppers  is install it to a piece of board then glue it to the underside of the baseboard. But it might be a good idea to get a larger piece to cover the entire bottom of the baseboard.

Ive never used point motors before so what ill do is get hold of one and the lever and see how much room ive got to play with under the board

    Odd lighting issue

I have a curious lighting issue with three recent 37s acquired as DCC Ready versions and retrofitted with Accurathrash decoders and speakers, in that everything works fine apart from the dashboard lights which come on at both ends as soon as power is supplied to the track (but before selecting any loco), and which permanently stay on at both ends irrespective of the direction of travel, or the operation of F19 which has no effect. Everything else works as it should.

Can anyone suggest the appropriate CV sequence to remedy this, presumably using Aux 3 and 4.

This has only happened so far with a 37026 and 37409 x 2. I have retrofitted several others which, apart from one with a different issue, have all worked fine.

The lighting switches incidentally are correctly set as per the Accurascale guide and match those in the DCC Sound versions. I did raise this with Accurascale support some time ago on receipt of the 026, but haven't had a suggested fix.

My loch Eil does this with the lokpilot none sound decoder and my loch lomand also does it which ive today fitted with the loksound decoder and speaker.

I can help with that. Having taken the same steps as the user you've attempted to search for, I took some photos of my Bachmann 08's innards. WhatsAppImage2023-07-08at17_53_17.jpg.561dc6ca96f3051c414bb3fe67852e0d.jpgWhatsAppImage2023-07-08at17_53_172.jpg.5c0b756c7cc687dc9f73caa4d7023cec.jpg

One thing to point out though, I attempted to fit a power bank, but couldn't, so removed it after I'd taken these photos, so ignore the PB wire on the decoder. Hope this helps!!

    Nathan...

Thats great, did you have to modify the 08 in any way to get it to fit? Im assuming that the smallest speaker enclosure supplied?

  8. So on my previous layouts ive used the Gaugemaster autofrogs. And whilst they worked well there was a load of wiring.

So, this time in an attempt to reduce the wiring somewhat ive got a Hex Frog Juicer. Im undecided yet weather to use Code 100 electrofrogs or the new bullhead unifrog track.

A couple of question if i may.

The instructions say the points dont need to be modified but ive always modified the point by cutting the wires at the back and bonding the rails. Do i still need to do this? Im assuming not on the unifrog

If i use a bullhead double slip do i wire just as 2 points - so each frog wire to a different frog output on the juicer?
