I guess that explains the sound cut out on mine that I mentioned on Thursday as I'm using a Prodigy Express, time for new DCC system methinks...

Hmm i also have the sound cut out issue with the 37 sometimes. I also use a PE2 system.

However, i highly doubt the controller is at fault. If it was id have issues with other locos fitted with a Loksound 5. These all run fine and include : Bachmann 47 factory fitted, Class 20 with a plux22 LS5 from roads and rails

    Hi,

I've now got 2 Deluxe Class 37s (37401 & 37175) and they both exhibit an annoying trait.

If I'm running them with sound on and bring them to a stand, they tend to not want to start off again, they don't respond to the throttle. Sometimes they will notch up, but they don't move and won't move until I lift them off the track and put them back on again. It seems as though the handbrake is being applied when they come to a stand, but I'm not the one applying it, I've also tried pressing the brake button to make sure the the brakes are off, but this doesn't seem to work.

Is there some clever logic I don't know about or does anyone else have this problem?

    Simon

Sometime my class 20s do this. Try dabbing F2, works for me.

  3. Ive used the AE decoders and found them to be pretty decent. Its a pity they dont do a plux22. They are manufaturered by DCC Concepts.

    I have 21 pins in Bachmann 40, Heljan 25 and a Bachmann 20.

Next 18 ive only tried in an EFE J94. which runs great. The same loco with a gaugemaster ran badly. Possibly the AE is better suited to coreless motors like in the J94

The only thing that would set the loco off is a DCC instruction to move or a power spike that the decoder misinterpreted as such. Might be best to power off the controller or remove the loco from the track rather  than pull the mains.

Its a prodigy dcc01 so it dosent really have an off switch so it has to be unplugged. I'll park it in a siding so its isolated.

Hopefully the proper decoder arrives next week so i can get that fitted. Then hopefully the retailler i had it from has a customer that wants the blue one he has in but dosent want the sound in it. As i originally wanted a sound version the retaillers asked if id like the sound chip and speaker out of the blue one so he can sell it as dcc ready to his other customer.

  5. Just got back. Massive free car park. Very nice show with nice layouts. Didnt feel crowded. Layouts and traders accross 3 halls.

Glenbogle was my favourite layout. Managed to get a few decent bargain wagons. Loads of bargains on the Dapol stand such as new sound fitted 08 for £200. They had a few returns as well. £65 for a 59 not to be sniffed at.

    Pete waterman was there too.

And to top it off i managed to get my green accurascale 37. :)

ok, well mine is going back to the shop as it has a very slight wobble! not bad, but not right for 220 pounds. I'll exchange it and see how a replacement one runs.

    positives

    - it looks lovely v nice livery application and handrails and steps so fine

    - v good slow speed control

    - doesn't stall v much at all as wheel base is longer than an 08

    - sound is good, I think the 08 and 40 are better though.

    negatives

    - no lights (you'd think they could have put a light behind the headcode box and a cab light). a bit lazy by Bachmann.

    - no stay alive. again lazy by Bachmann. mine didn't stall hardly at all, however sometimes the sound cut out for half a second.  I have electrofrog points, those with insulfrog will likely have more issues.

    - very slight wobble, but i may have been unlucky. could be quartering or wheel slop. not sure.

so anyway I'll see what the replacement is like and then decide if i keep it.

they are lovely locos and i quite enjoy the paxman engine sounds so hoping I get a good one.

    cheers

    tim

    Cheers for that.

Ill be getting mine from the shop in person so can check for wobbles.

  7. I noticed my local shop had these in today.

They look very interesting but i hesitated to buy it with it being an 0-6-0, albeit with a bigger wheelbase than the 08 that i had issues with cutting out on pointwork.

So if anyones had a sound fitted one id appriciate your thoughts :)

My 37026 still has no lights working on DC. When I bought it on ebay the lights were working.

I know that I can’t return it for repair.  Therefore, I need to understand how to fix the problem.  Has anyone had a similar problem and, if so, how have you fixed it?

If youve had it less than 180 days get the seller to assist in sending to accurascale. If they refuse put in a dispute as the goods are clearly faulty.

I agree to a large degree with "Ruston" and feel it is all part of the huge multi faceted monster that is Hornby. I am on hols at the moment and found a couple of old James May 2019 programmes on youtube.  I never really understood the "Terrier thing" at the time but James May laid it all bare.  Lyndon explained that Hornby had lost 30 million pounds that year, Simon Kohler had been brought back and there were clear plans to reverse the deficit. In that show there were unpainted 44DS models on display, but more evident was they turned the new terrier out in eleven months. Proof that a model could be chosen, researched, CAD drawn, tools cut, manufactured, packaged and shipped in less than 12 months.

    Need i say more

Hadnt Oxford Rail already done the majority of the work tho? As i bilieve it was originally to be in an oxford rail box?

Hi Cravensdmufan, from what I have read elsewhere there is zero carry across from TTS to the new TXS but I think one of the team involved in developing will confirm.

Listen to the original Hornby mag review of the original large logo blue 47 ( and the shenker 08 for that matter ) and youll see they are very similar - especially the horns

A comment from a viewer of my Class 47 video reckons that, apart from enhanced selection of horns, the basic sounds are the same as those on TTS.  In which case are the 31, 37 and 60 etc also the same?

I have to say that my untrained ear thinks they are different, but wondering if anyone could clarify?

IMO the new TXS are a significant improvement over TTS.  I have found that motor control is way up there with the premium products, and the ease of adjusting CVs with the app is great!  I'm enjoying fine tuning the spot sounds.

Some of the horns were the same, as was the moving off sound. The startup sound was similar to the newer TTS version. Not the same as the original TTS chip.

The 37 sounded ok, but the warning sounds on startup must mean its intended for later liveried 37s.

The 08 is pretty much the same as the TTS file, but it does sound richer. Having said that i too k it out of my 08 in the end as the loco got very hot where the speaker was at the front.

I'm no whizz on all the Functions on the 37 but is it possible that the Zen 21 you have is the Zen 218.6? This will only support 6 functions which may be beyond the number of functions on the 37. The AS recommended chip is the Lokpilot which supports 10 functions.

The newest Bachmann 21 pin decoder is an esu lokpilot that has 10 function so that may be ok as well
