    Fitted a Zimo Next18 to 878 'BASRAS'

I like the way the side panels come off and and screws hidden beneath. [Important to line up shell and chassis properly when refitting].

Shell did take a little wiggling to free, though not too bad. Gentle fingernail persuasion of the cab end ensured no resultant damage.

Make sure you fit the decoder the correct away around (brief common sense failure)!

Remapped the cab lights from F2 to F1 on my ECoS which was a doddle.

Also had to use the 'reverse' feature to get the shunter to go nose first when showing forward direction on the ECoS.

    All working very well, yay!

Nice, do you reckon theres room for the HM7000 decoder?

That's DCC sound....... I pre ordered a DCC fitted. Not sound . I'll wait

yep the dcc fitted ones sold out before the sound ones. All 3 varients were in stock last week, but by time i was paid they had all gone

  4. Hopefully a flood of MK1s in 00 similar to what they did recently in N

Having trouble finding anything ( new ) thats not a buffet coach in pretty much any livery.

Another green 47 would be nice as would another green 20 with discs.

Seems faulty.Runs okay but the headcode lights do not change direction on DC. Presume they should and as such there is no point trying to program a decoder. Have tried one and had F0 working directionally the cab lights F1 a headcode light white F2 the other headcode light red

They dont. Theres no red tail lights and the white front blind on each end is controlled by the F keys.

Or at least thats how mine is

are the bogies pushed on properly?

    maybe remove and reattach them

also inspect all the gears to see any debris or splits, maybe use a magnifying lens...

    good luck

Yeah i pulled them off to and put them back on to check. Ran it for many hours today so ive sadly had to ask for a return.

Always found the class 24/25 chassis pretty smooth running, so, supicious.

Gears over-greased and/or something caught up in them? Unless its the dreaded split gear...

I thought of split gear, but would it still grind at low speed?

  8. Hi

Got a new class 24 today ( DPD actually delivered on a sunday! )

Ive ran it for a couple of hours and at higher speeds its a bit grindy in both directions. At lower speeds its pretty quiet.

Its not overly smooth at lower speeds and sometimes it stalls for no apparent reason.

Is anyone elses 24 the same? I'll give it another good run tomorrow and if no improvement i might ask rails for an exchange.

  9. Talking of DPD,

I ordered some wagons from ROS on friday and they were delivered yesterday ( saturday ), then on saturday morning I ordered a coach and a loco and they delivered today - on a sunday. Couldnt bilieve it!!

    Pleasure!

It really Is impressive. This is at full volume setting on the lock but only captured on an iPhone from varying distances from the speaker.

It’s not cheap but I’ve had friends see this who aren’t model enthusiasts, and they’re blown away that it can do what it can.

Couldnt wait till payday so put my order in this evening. Cant wait!

For @meatloaf and others that are interested, here’s a video of the new Graham class 47 with sound.

This is an unlisted video as I’ve put this on my aviation channel (I haven’t done a video for a while!) so feel free to share but only those who have the link will see it, but it’s not up to my usual production standards so won’t released on a public link.

Wow, i think thats the best sound weve had so far on an N scale diesel. I thought the 31 was good but this beast it in my eyes ( ears ).

Sounds like the same soundfile used in the new 00 scale 47s.

Thank you, one will be ordered come payday :)

Picked up a RES 47 with sound and I’m very pleased with it (pic attached of it on my test track) with a regional 158 on pre order - whenever they might get here! I’m modelling the 1990’s so would love an intercity swallow 47, perhaps next year then reading some of these comments.

No doubt it will happen in time. Hornby did say that they had to go with three to ensure there was enough stored charge to maintain power to the decoder - these stayalives are not of the minimalist style to give a momentary nudge over a speck of dirt. They also share some components on the decoder to complete the charging circuit.

Indeed the one in my class 73 takes almost 30 seconds to discharge after power off the layout

  14. Could lance not ask hattons to take it back and send it to accurascale for attention?

Then assuming he gets a fresh loco back he could then either keep it or sell it on?

EDIT : Noticed in the video comments that accurascale are replacing the decoder - top job to the accuradcale guys.

Also a lot of people blaming hattons. In this case tho i can see where they are coming from. The model wasnt as recieved so they couldnt refund.
