  1. See people just wanting to make more of it than it is. It's just an email and straight away people are wanting to complain about the way Dave does business? I don't get it. And no I'm not wound up at all, just confused by the responses to a simple request Btw this is just a random forum, just like every other railway forum
  2. There is nothing sinister, no major announcement, nothing personal against anyone it's a simple request not to divulge the info onto forums etc... Until all the people who have put deposits down get a chance to read it first and direct from Dave instead of hearing it first on a random forum. It's not enforceable, it's a simple courteous request so the backers can get a little but of information first. I honestly don't see why this winds some people up?
  3. I think he's trying to say that he'd already said the same thing but using less words
  4. Thanks, but like you say that stock list was mentioned earlier and the one on the 2nd (not 3rd) I've found was the 9701 set
  5. Looking at six bells jn for the 2nd of August 1981 trip and it just says push pull set 9701 so that at least gives me the two DBSOs so thank you for the website info
  6. Excellent Thanks for that. It must have been two different sets on each trip because the only photo i've been able to roughly work out a number is on here - http://www.napier-chronicles.co.uk/21_2-8-81.htm and it looks like either 12006 or 12008
  7. Does anyone know the number of any of the DBSOs that made it to Oban with 55021 on the two merrymaker trips? I've been trying to find this out for years. I've seen many photos and even bought slides but never found out the number/s (Full rake info would be perfect but I'd settle for just the DBSO
  8. I bet if they were to do a new poll with regards to just the Scotrail mk3's and I'm confident that the result would be completely different... Oh well that's two full rakes that I will no longer be buying!
  9. I decided to make my first order through the new site instead of using the old one. I'd already created an account on the new site so I thought why not Just one thing... When filling in details it says "Phone (Optional)" but it won't let you proceed until you put in a phone number in!! So not so optional!
  10. Even though it's TOPS numbered Scottish heacode box 24's that I want, even if they were added to the voting list tomorrow I wouldn't cancel my votes for the two pre-TOPS ones, I would want them in both styles, sealed and not sealed. I emailed them to let them know I'd definitely be up for at least two TOPS versions I hope they move forward with the pre-TOPS ones soon though
  11. The important thing for me about an online store is the search function and I find the new sites search engine to be far superior! As a test I typed in "Hornby class 50" into the current site and it gave me 6 pages with 446 results, the whole of the first page (72 results) were steam locos, then on page 2 another 47 steam locos before finally getting to the diesel class 50's, nothing on page 3, one on page 4, a few on page 5 (finally including the two newest just released models) and nothing on page 6... Compare that to the new sites search for the same "Hornby class 50" and it's narrowed down to just 22 results on 1 page, and the first 12 results were Hornby class 50's! No more scrolling through pages of stuff I don't want to look at! So there are some positives. The search is much tighter. Due to numerous problems with orders from Hattons I stopped using them this year and cancelled all my pre-orders for everything and transferred them to other retailers except for stuff I can't get elsewhere like Hattons exclusives, but I will say that the search functions on the new site impresses me.
  12. That's my 2 deposits finally re-paid now I feel I can relax a bit now. Really looking forward to this. Now... do i really need an N gauge one?... No... Do I wan't one?... Err yeah... Now just got to try and resist
  13. That will be able to go up to 170 on Friday when I can finally repay the deposit for my two
  14. Just been shown this video and it shows that a change of speaker can help
  15. I'm guessing that a better quality speaker would probably help but I don't know by how much.
  16. I picked up a pair from Rails yesterday and tested the sound this morning... They look great and it's nice having sound come from both power cars but as Pheaton says... Prepare to be disappointed! It has a distant feel of a valenta but it's missing so much! If you put it on "thrash" you start to get there but it just doesn't sound like the Valentas I heard powering out of platform 5 at Sheffield, not enough low end grunt and when running and I can imagine the high end driving people mad after a while, no real "zing" just high pitched whistle. I don't even like the horns. I know not to expect perfect sound from the TTS system but the other locos I've heard weren't bad so I was expecting a little more from this. Luckily I bought them for the locos and livery to renumber, and not for the sound. If I'd bought especially for the sound I'd be very disappointed

  18. I hated 37116 at the time, it was the first time I thought that Stratford had got it wrong.... but i've still got one on pre-order because of it's oddness I've also given in and preordered 37025 even though I have the weathered and pristine Rails wonky arrows versions, the new one will go well with the Colas 37's (I would have still preferred an Eastfield split box one or Inverness centre box 37/0 thats not been done by Bachmann before but I will settle for this for now )
  19. I enjoyed the scanning day (even if it was a little damp) so if the day worked out to be on my day off again id like an excuse to visit again (hopefully the sun will be kinder to us too)
  20. It all depends on circumstances! I got my refund for my 2 sets and if the means to pay again was set up and ready straight away I would have repaid without delay, unfortunately the delay was too long and personal circumstances meant that the money had to be used for an unexpected emergency, so now I have to wait another 2 weeks for payday before I can repay again. So no, not everyone has the funds to repay the first deposit!
  21. I know a lot of people are happy about 37025 but since they've already done it in it's 1980's large logo guise i'd have prefered them to do an Eastfield large logo split box 37 instead of a repeat. Or a least a white stripe one. But as they say, you can't please all the people all the time Maybe next year?
