N Gauge Class 44 - with 45 & 46 to follow...
37081LochLong replied to rapidoandy's topic in Rapido Trains
Going on the renders I thought that wire looked good but after reading steadfast's explanation of the 66 and studying photos I'd go for moulded! I've decided to stick with OO now, so I'll no longer be getting one or two of these so I suppose my opinion doesn't count anymore but I'm still watching the project with interest 🙂 -
When you see people who admit to not paying extra for postage but getting theirs the day after ordering then you start to question if it's more random than that
-
Which just proves that they have no order to how they send them out, mine were 2022 and sent out today? Never had a single problem with preorders from them before but this time it's so random
-
I preordered 008 and 093 from them in 2022 and heard nothing from them, while others were ordering and getting them the next day so I emailed them yesterday to ask if orders were just sent out in random order... I've not had a reply to the email but a few hours later they took my money and today they were picked up by DPD. I was waiting to see them in the "flesh" to see how good they were before ordering any others but they were taking so long and selling out everywhere that i ordered 120 and 023 from two different places instead.

I was going to order 074 when it was announced but when I saw it was without the beacon I lost interest perhaps in a future batch tooling we could get a beacon fitted 073 or 074 in BR Blue?

Ergh! To to prove that not every livery suits! -
The wheelin one of the boxes I worked was a sod when it got really tight. The ratchet was so hard to release and if you weren't looking at what you were doing it would try to rip your fingers off when it spun to unravel, definitely a two handed job, one to hold onto the wheel, the other to lift the rathet then slowly let it unwind
-
I know in my 35 years of signalling, wheels is boxes served two purposes. First was level crossing gates so we can rule that out lol. Second were connected to semaphore signal cables which expanded and contracted in the heat and cold in extreme weather and went from too stiff to pull to too slack, the wheel was to adjust the tension. I'm guessing this was the case here

I too would would like to know the answer to that as that is the version I wanted

Model Rail have never made a secret that the website is maintained by Kernow, in fact the first line on their About Us page it even states "You are viewing our Model Rail Offers website which is operated by Kernow Model Rail Centre on behalf of H Bauer Publishing, part of Bauer Media UK" And when you order anything from Kernow, on your email receipt it says "items marked "MR" are supplied on behalf of Bauer Media"

I love how you get so much realistic atmosphere in your photos -
In a recent sale they had the Heljan 45106 but it was showing as temporary out of stock, I ordered it anyway and a week later it turned up on the doorstep with the sale price honoured, so I'm hoping they do the same with the large logo 73 I have on order :)

I remember hearing about the "washable" paint 😁 I did hear it was quickly repainted ASAP but knowing British Rail, ASAP could mean anything lol -

Yeah I remember the advert on tv when I was a kid (before the days of youtube) that's why I mentioned it. And since it was only done for the advert is why I said it would be a novelty piece more than anything (doesn't stop me wanting it though :)) -

The police 37 would really only be a novelty piece for the collectors but add a police siren and blue flashing light, make it an Accurascale exclusive (imagine the Jam sandwich box it would come in) and I'd buy one to replace my Lima one :) -

Great stuff, 47704 was the first 47/7 I ever saw when it was BR Blue with grey roof and that's how I want to model it eventually. It's still my favourite 47/7 so great to see it modelled like this
