  1. Indeed, but I was after the 8 pin ones they had for £9.
  2. They did have a few hundred 8 pin decoders, but by the time I could get to a PC to place an order they had all sold out.
  3. I'm sure many more people visited the cathedral who wouldn't have done normally. My point is, given the event had free entry, it will have many more visitors than one where a family of 4 would cost over £50 to visit.
  4. Making Tracks had no entry fee, and Chester Cathedral is in the centre of the city. I'd expect it to have attracted more visitors!
  5. In the (publicly available) accounts turnover for the year to June 2018 was £14.4million, so i guess it was £15million.
  6. I think its all to easy to fall into the trap that if a few people have a problem, then all those models get tarnished with the same problem. Elsewhere, Accurascale said they had sold 18,000 class 37s. In this day and age, thats a lot. Even a low fault rate with them can mean many unhappy customers, all too eager to vent their (understandable) frustration where they can. The reality might be that they are much more reliable than a manufacturer who might only have sold 1,000 or 2,000 models, but has fewer complaints.
  7. Worth noting this in the NEW Accurascale lifetime warranty conditions;
  8. A digital subscription to Railway Modeller doesnt remove ads on this site. RMWeb is part of the Warner stable.
  9. According to @dibber25 on another thread, the circulation of the constructor was c 40k in the 60s, and 20k when it closed in 1987
  10. Surprised the digital subs for RM are so low - you get the 75 year back catalogue!
  11. Bear in mind a chunk of Peco's sales are through Pecorama, a tourist attraction where the margins are very high (and yet they still provide really good value for money)
  12. There arnt any ready-to-run, but Cambrian do make a kit. I've not built that particular one, but based on others from Cambrian, it should be fairly straightforward.
  13. I've seen a picture of a van at Lyme described as a weekly van for Boots the Chemist.
  14. I seem to recall a CJF plan that had both Axminster (shortened obviously) and Lyme Regis. Or at least recognisable versions of them. It was designed for a loft, and I think the main line was 7 coach trains (with half of them hidden beyond the bridge at Axminster.
  15. Interesting definition of West End. EasyJet would be proud!
  16. Its worth pointing out that there was originally a link from the branch into the goods yard on the south of the station, that would have allowed for more direct through traffic, but it seems it was actually little used in the early days and was removed about 1915.
  17. I wonder if they would consider leveraging their IT system by offering it for other retailers to use, perhaps under licence. You could have a front end thats customisable, but utilising the database and customer management aspects.
  18. You've answered your own question - it was taken over by the Midland. The 1921 Act put the Midland into the LMS, it therefore also put all the railways it owned or part owned into the LMS.
  19. You will only get charged when they dispatch. No payment is taken now.
  20. Given their turnover had dropped over the last few years, that seemed a reasonable assumption.
  21. As has been mentioned, Bekra models in Newton Abbott is still there, although not a pure model railway shop. Colletts in Exmouth is also still there (I've never visited so cant comment). But it seems a shame that neither Exeter nor Torbay can support a model railway shop. It can't be a lack of modellers - Exeter has two model railway clubs!
  22. Thanks, I must pay them a visit next time I'm visiting my mum in Teignmouth.
  23. Pity there isnt a list of all the Scenecraft buildings they've produced.
  24. From their Facebook page, Paignton Model Shop is to close. The shop will remain open until the 2nd week in March, as the owners are finally retiring. I understand the shop has been for sale for some time, so I assume that no buyers have been found.
