  1. There arnt any ready-to-run, but Cambrian do make a kit. I've not built that particular one, but based on others from Cambrian, it should be fairly straightforward.
  2. I've seen a picture of a van at Lyme described as a weekly van for Boots the Chemist.
  3. I seem to recall a CJF plan that had both Axminster (shortened obviously) and Lyme Regis. Or at least recognisable versions of them. It was designed for a loft, and I think the main line was 7 coach trains (with half of them hidden beyond the bridge at Axminster.
  4. Interesting definition of West End. EasyJet would be proud!
  5. Its worth pointing out that there was originally a link from the branch into the goods yard on the south of the station, that would have allowed for more direct through traffic, but it seems it was actually little used in the early days and was removed about 1915.
  6. I wonder if they would consider leveraging their IT system by offering it for other retailers to use, perhaps under licence. You could have a front end thats customisable, but utilising the database and customer management aspects.
  7. You've answered your own question - it was taken over by the Midland. The 1921 Act put the Midland into the LMS, it therefore also put all the railways it owned or part owned into the LMS.
  8. You will only get charged when they dispatch. No payment is taken now.
  9. Given their turnover had dropped over the last few years, that seemed a reasonable assumption.
  10. As has been mentioned, Bekra models in Newton Abbott is still there, although not a pure model railway shop. Colletts in Exmouth is also still there (I've never visited so cant comment). But it seems a shame that neither Exeter nor Torbay can support a model railway shop. It can't be a lack of modellers - Exeter has two model railway clubs!
  11. Thanks, I must pay them a visit next time I'm visiting my mum in Teignmouth.
  12. Pity there isnt a list of all the Scenecraft buildings they've produced.
  13. From their Facebook page, Paignton Model Shop is to close. The shop will remain open until the 2nd week in March, as the owners are finally retiring. I understand the shop has been for sale for some time, so I assume that no buyers have been found.
  14. Given the number of children who attend model railway exhibitions, if this was a real issue, I'm surprised they've not been banned.
  15. Items in your trunk are paid for. What is NOT paid for is the shipping. So if you pre-order something to your trunk, when it arrives, your card is charged and it is placed in your Trunk until you decide to ship it (along with anything else that may be there)
  16. Except no one is sitting on your money for a week. You are only charged once they dispatch it. If they dispatch it the same day, you get charged the same day. If they dispatch it a week next Tuesday, thats when they charge you.
  17. Depends what you mean by large. It was a 2 page spread - much smaller than in previous years. And solely devoted to buying and selling the 2nd hand. Not offering anything new.
  18. My only pre-orders prior to the closure notice were for some Genesis coaches and the accompanying lighting strips. They're still there. They've now been joined by pre-orders for a pair of Hattons Originals Andrew Barclay 0-4-0STs.
  19. I've just placed pre-orders for a couple. If they end up not producing them, I've lost nothing.
  20. Indeed. And at that time, you were unable to place a new pre-order on their website. They then announced they were reviewing it, and now you CAN place a pre-order.
  21. Although there hasnt been an official announcement, you can now pre-order the proposed Andrew Barclay locos, they are showing an estimated arrival date of April 2024-June 2024.
  22. They are now showing as "due in between April 2024 and June 2024", so I assume they've decided to go ahead with production.
  23. A unifrog point is merely a point that can act as either an electrofrog point (where the frog is live depending on the direction the point is set) or as an insulfrog point (where the frog is electrically dead, which can result in a loss of current, perhaps more noticeable with DCC and DCC sound locomotives with short wheelbases). You can change the polarity of the frog via a switch on your point motor, either via an add-on to the PECO solenoid type or built in with one the Gaugemaster SEEP point motors (I forget which model). If you are controlling the point motors by DCC decoder, instead of by wiring back to a control panel, then the connection can be made to the accessory decoder.
  24. Likewise I've just had the same email. My only pre-orders are some Batch 2 Genesis coaches and the accompanying lighting kits.
