  1. All the manufacturers are at Warley, so it's natural they will all be making announcements this weekend.
  2. I understand the Bluetooth is the connection between the handset and base station, so not similar to the Hornby system where Bluetooth is used to connect the handset to the decoder.
  3. I wondered, because the blurb says the tooling takes account of the difference between "as built" and "modified from HAA", so I wondered which pack was which.
  4. What exactly is the difference between the various packs? Other than the obvious difference in livery between pack A - E and F-H ?
  5. The tier system never applied to Airfix stockists anyway. It was purely a Hornby strategy.
  6. I can't see Bachmann moving into TT120, even if it was something they already had all the drawings for. Something like the LSWR T3, while fitting in with the coaches from EFE, is more likely to be done by someone like Rails - after all they have a history of these commissions.
  7. Its the stall current that you need to measure to decide what capacity of decoder to use in a given loco.
  8. Well, let me be clear. Heljan locos draw close to 1A. Stick a Hornby TTS decoder in one and it will blow.
  9. I said nothing about what a decoder would draw, although its obvious that a loco with sound and lights will draw more than one without. Heljan locos are well known for drawing 1A - theres a reason some Hornby decoders wont work with them.
  10. How so? Sound locos are more popular, and some modern locos (eg Heljan) can draw up to 1A each. The standard power supply that comes with the PowerCab is just 1.5A, and NCE's own upgrade is a 5A booster.
  11. Is it a coincidence that as soon as certain personnel have left Hornby, this situation changes?
  12. Eurostar hasnt jettisoned those because it wants to - it has explicitly said that the additional border checks required have meant it doesnt have the capacity.
  13. What scale? The Model Rail versions are still available.
  14. I would imagine Corgi falls into that category, otherwise they wouldnt have taken the decision to write off £3m of goodwill against the brand.
  15. One that I would add is 'Compact and Convenient' - Freezer - December 1968.
  16. No connection other than as a satisfied customer https://www.magazineexchange.co.uk/cw/model-railways-magazine-february-1983-issue.html
  17. Quite literally a tail chaser! However, I think we ought to look at something that will at least look reasonable. The straight side of the oval will need to be 2700mm long, at least. Combine that with a R2 curve at each end, the size would be say 3600mm x 900mm.
  18. He's now become non-executive Chairman, which means he has no control over the running of the company, unlike previously.
  19. Yes, I think if they went down that route - minor tweaks to the body, but a new chassis and motor to allow easy fitting of DCC and sound, that would be great.
  20. Not any more he isnt. 74.9% is owned by Phoenix Asset management, and another chunk by another asset management company. Having quickly skimmed through the Hornby accounts, it seems he only ever had a small shareholding, usually 4%-5%, beginning in 2001, ending in 2014.
  21. No they dont own the Margate site. It was sold to a part of Jeremy Hosking's empire (he of LSL), and they moved out to rented accomodation nearby. They then got a better deal to move back, where they now rent a part of their former site. The big empty spaces you see on the TV are not the bits rented by Hornby. Thats the "factory floor" space next door to the office that is owned by Hosking.
  22. While I suppose it was theoretically possible, its unlikely, as standard practice was to withdraw an entire set should there be a problem with an individual vehicle within a set.
  23. I wonder why they've brought back the MK1 suburbans given the Accuracale ones are going to be much better and are also surely imminent.
  24. You might think that anyone can do the same as you. The evidence shows that they cant.
