  1. That is disappointing - my lad really loved the Playtrains (and still gets it out occasionally, even though he's now graduated to older toys).
  2. I think the Barclay has been successful enough, and with plenty more variations to be done, that someone will take it over. Or is that wishful thinking?
  3. Hattons have said the second batch will be produced - I assume because the factory has already been paid. The lighting units were part of that, so I assume they are coming as well.
  4. Absolutely stunned. This is the biggest shock to the hobby that I have known. They will leave a massive hole, as for many they were the "local model shop" that you could ring up or increasingly order online from for all those bits, especially with the innovative Trunk service. The loss of the Genesis carriages (not withstanding the production of the 2nd batch) and the Barclay 040s is massive - these were widely praised across the hobby. I would hope that someone would buy the tooling off them to allow future production.
  5. A poor attempt at a joke. Parkside is the range of tools etc available from Lidl.
  6. After the Staplehurst crash, Dickens became an activist for greater safety, and studied many previous accident reports to inform his criticism. He would surely have been familiar with the Clayton tunnel crash.
  7. They worked with well known SteamPunk enthusiast Laurie Calvert, and he did help in the initial promotion too.
  8. I keep seeing people say this, but I really dont think thats the case. If you were to ask 100 modellers what they associate Bassett-Lowke with, I dont think you'll get that many talking about the SteamPunk range. And thats more because the range didn't take off.
  9. Who will be unable to do anything about it, so will suggest returning for a refund, and the OP then has no kit.
  10. A quick call to Peco and I'm sure they'll pop the sprues you need in the post.
  11. That would explain why I couldnt find it in the 1970s editions of the Modeller!
  12. Did this ever appear in the modelling press? I'm sure I recall reading about it (or something similar), but cant find it in the RM archive.
  13. Many lines people think of as "joint" are actually not joint at all, but one company simply had running powers. The route to Weymouth being one in point. There were actually very few lines that were joint between the GWR and the LSWR (later SR).
  14. Isnt it about time that say Peco did a special book with all of Ian's layouts in? After all, he seems to have been published most by them, they probably still have all the info.
  15. I suppose theres no chance of them laying some extra track while they're at it?
  16. Thats not how WiFi works. Its how most of us use it in our homes, but thats not how it has to work everywhere.
  17. All the manufacturers are at Warley, so it's natural they will all be making announcements this weekend.
  18. I understand the Bluetooth is the connection between the handset and base station, so not similar to the Hornby system where Bluetooth is used to connect the handset to the decoder.
  19. I wondered, because the blurb says the tooling takes account of the difference between "as built" and "modified from HAA", so I wondered which pack was which.
  20. What exactly is the difference between the various packs? Other than the obvious difference in livery between pack A - E and F-H ?
  21. The tier system never applied to Airfix stockists anyway. It was purely a Hornby strategy.
  22. I can't see Bachmann moving into TT120, even if it was something they already had all the drawings for. Something like the LSWR T3, while fitting in with the coaches from EFE, is more likely to be done by someone like Rails - after all they have a history of these commissions.
