  1. I guess you have probably had a look through this thread, http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/40242-cornish-clay/ it may give some inspiration too.
  2. A shot showing the roads around clay country - this is Treviscoe on the Parkandillack branch Here is Marsh Mills at Plymouth - and they second but last train up there. Summer at Rocks when the 08s were still shunting More soon....
  3. That's a lovely scratchbuild. I would place it near the road junction. I dont think it would be near the works, but it's your layout mate - put it where you like. The plateau of land his lots of possibilities, if you bear with me I'll take some general pictures around Rocks at Goonbarrow. The buidings are very interesting, plus all the pipes, flues and generator rooms. Not to mention Knightwing portacabins which would look fab weathered with claydust.
  4. Heard from Model Rail -my layout in next issue! Cant wait

cool, must keep an eye out for it

  6. I've had word from Model Rail HQ that this layout will be in the next issue. Exciting stuff.
  7. Hello there I lovely little tribute to clay country. It's alway nice when proper contours are added to a railway. The river being a great focal point. As a Signalman who covers Goonbarrow, I hope you wont mind me commenting on one feature of the layout. There isn't enough clay around! Believe me - it gets everywhere, on cars, on the wagons, on nearby properties etc... The roads in the complex should be bright white, and the ground white blended with grass (which looks great by the way). I can supply some photos to aid you. Please dont be disheartened - It's a matter you can attend to with little effort or change.
  8. With the evenings drawing in now, I decided to give some of the coaching fleet a little treat. The recent Bachmann mk2s make the older Hornby & Lima ones look rather odd with their deep set windows. I brought some pack od South Eastern Flushglaze sets for some Lima BGs and Hornby mk2 TSO & 1/2 brakes. Some windows popped in a treat, some needed some coaxing. All in all, a fiddly but worthwhile job. The first class coach has had new window sets, the 2nd class open has original glazing. A lima weathered BG with new glazing. The kits allow a little license to leave some droplights slightly open. Better shut them before they go through the carriage wash though! Another completed 1/2 brake
  9. I knew I am unlikely to ever own a diesel loco, so I obtained some controls from various locos over the last 15 years, all legitimately too! I have the power controllers and brake handles from a class 37, 47 & 56.
  10. 47340 passes the Panel box and drops into the loco stabling spur for its next working. The Panel boys are out on the roof having a crafty fag.
  11. It did run mate. 57604 went up through Par around 13.00 with JB at the controls.
  12. Sun 29th Sept 2013 As mentioned above Braunton expected to work the last steam special to Par. 1Z37 08.28 Bristol TM - Par as usual, arr Par 14.01, deprt 17.45 in the evening. There is a schedule for a 12.20 0Z57 Long Rock to Laira on Sat 28th - Also a 5Z57 16.38 Laira to Long Rock. This may be a Sleeper coach move. Dont shoot if it doesnt run....
  13. 37403 certainly made it into Cornwall in this livery as seen in the railtour section of the Corwall Railway Society. It worked to Looe, and almost positive I've seen it on the Penzance fuel once - though that may have been celebrity 37408 in large logo.

  17. Hi - no updates for a while, have a new computer with Windows 8 and having trouble adjusting. Using Picassa 3 for my photos and seem to have lost Microsoft picture editor - which I loved using. Simple to shrink photos for RM Web & other web use. Here are some recent pictures with a B&W tint to age them for the Hydraulic period. A very diesel electric 33108 heads the Milk westbound D6328 brings in some empty stock to Mount Charles - still displaying 0F79 in the headcode. D812 is ready for the off with a down service. Double stamps on the Paddington Tail lamp still lit from its journey in from the TMD. D812 is tied onto a Paignton service. D6328 trundles a short freight back to Sandy Hill yard, including scrap from the yard.
  18. The first proper working of the topic: There's steam down this & week Sunday 1st & 8th September. Timings the same for each week. 19. Mr Foot I presume? There are pictures of him being carried on a brakevan like a local hero when he announced he was moving on from Cornwall. He interviewed me for St Germans relief signalman in 1989!
  20. Damian That shot on the previous page of the point work is probably prototypical. The trackwork at BZ isnt a work of art, but a mis match of previous designs ripped up and started again (sounds familiar?). The wagon trails as vehicles set back into the various roads when viewed from the box demonstate this. To say the trackwork is rustic is the kindest way to describe the yard.
  21. Hello there Here is a new topic to detail photos and timings of railtours and specials running on the mainlines and branches of Cornwall. It was introduced to allow better access to forthcoming workings - rather than cluttering up the excellent Cornwall today topic. Would people rather we keep it for up to date pictures & information, or tours from years gone by? Please add your comments.
  22. Aye Rick The sleepers still have blearly figures peering from their double windows, and have produced some "interesting" glimpses from the boxes as it passes by! Mostly old boys in vests or old woman slurping their morning tea - but sometimes more pleasing on the eye!
  23. Great to see you & layout today Bill. Loved the Barnstaple sleeper service - nice bit of imaginative running there!
