  1. Ditto, had the same call thursday lunch time, sticking with mine but really thinking about changing to DCC ready or going full pelt and getting sound fitted ones from DCKits. think a trip to my local model shop tomorrow!
  2. I've just had a very nice lady from Rails on, another issue, this time with the DCC fitted versions. Turns out there is a shortage/long lead time on the 6 function decoders to be supplied - 6 weeks was mentioned also that Dapol could not confirm they would be able to fulfil all of the Rails orders for these. She was asking if I'm happy to stick with the DCC fitted version or or wish to change to the the ready option as they are flying off the shelves. Have advised still with fitted but I am running the risk of not getting my orders. The DRS livery is aparently flying off the shelves and the other 2 liveries are doing well but not at the rate of these.
  3. Really impressed at the nice and quiet running (Hattons video), got 68002 & 68005 pre-ordered at rails DCC fitted, really cannot wait now. 68001 - eek £200 + £4.95 P&P + £40 (approx.) 6 function decoder = £244.95!! Will sleep on that one! Wonder if they will still available in the morning! Maybe a Scotrail one with sound instead for a similar price?
  4. Hi Matt, Sorry if I've caused confusion, just re-read it all plus the scanned pages Dapol put up, am I correct in reading it that it all can be controlled with some adjustment of the switches and possibly changing some CV's? Regards Ali
  5. Hello, Based on reading the DCC post on Dapol Digest it comes with a 4 function recorder, I'm thinking of buying a 6 function decoder, which would anyone suggest? Digest recommends "Loksound, TCS X suffix, Zimo D suffix" Half tempted to stick with the 4 function supplied but really fancy that full control of the lights that you get with 6. Cheers Ali
  6. Looking good! Definitely think its better to make these wagons from the kits rather than modifying Bachmanns RTR! look forward to seeing how they progress, mine are on hold at present. Regards Ali
  7. Speaking to Andy on the Dapol stand at Warley he thought the models might be in the country by Christmas but stored in their warehouse over Christmas due to Christmas shut downs etc/delivery lead time.
  8. Hello, Has anyone else had email(s) from where they have pre-ordered the these locos asking to agree paying an increase price recently? Even if their website says price promise? Cheers Ali
  9. 88003 on its way to innotrans https://www.flickr.com/photos/railmedia/28925726864/in/photolist-L54UQG-L54ULJ-L4JbQs-LXYj7o-M1SQrz-M1SQsB-M1SQsr-LMnbHv-LMnaBn-KXdRLQ-LUpGGM-LMnapP-LUpGqp-LMnacK-LUpGcP-LuKUYR-KDaWCg-Lf7cFt-KbGu96-JJcBNy-JdDG7q-JdDkfL-K75Kqf-Jqbx8z-JmKjPp-Ka6emX-Ka6cr4-Gx1v4Q-H3hv2L-GwXe7f-G1ea5m-G1jJpX-GPL2Ep-G1jES6-GPL1hz-G1jDu6-GPKZ2P-G1jC2X-G1jBsa-G1e5BJ-G1jAT4-GSJRnu-G1e4xQ-GMUbLw-GtCicT-GtChXz-Gah2No-Gah2nJ-GtChgp-Gah23q https://www.flickr.com/photos/andyengelen/29545973175/in/photolist-L54UQG-L54ULJ-L4JbQs-LXYj7o-M1SQrz-M1SQsB-M1SQsr-LMnbHv-LMnaBn-KXdRLQ-LUpGGM-LMnapP-LUpGqp-LMnacK-LUpGcP-LuKUYR-KDaWCg-Lf7cFt-KbGu96-JJcBNy-JdDG7q-JdDkfL-K75Kqf-Jqbx8z-JmKjPp-Ka6emX-Ka6cr4-Gx1v4Q-H3hv2L-GwXe7f-G1ea5m-G1jJpX-GPL2Ep-G1jES6-GPL1hz-G1jDu6-GPKZ2P-G1jC2X-G1jBsa-G1e5BJ-G1jAT4-GSJRnu-G1e4xQ-GMUbLw-GtCicT-GtChXz-Gah2No-Gah2nJ-GtChgp-Gah23q Cheers Ali
  10. This looks absolutely fantastic Mick, brilliant work!!!
  11. If true, would imagine its going to be transferred north by road then (like the first 68 was) due to the type of ship that is. Cheers Ali
  12. Lovely work as usual Jack. Particularly like the MXA, got one on the go myself. Got any tips on how the modify the Bachmann BDA? Ended up using a dremel & sanding drum to take the top surface down around the sole bars. black plastic dust everywhere! Cheers Ali
  13. Hello, Anyone want to have a guess at what this is? Correct, MXA being made from plasti-card and Bachmann's BDA wagon Did some more 1:1 scale drawings again, did a classic mis-measure as well so ended up trimming the sides down, messy doesn't best describe the aftermath! On the PFA front, haven't don't much due to time constraints again, but have managed to paint the white parts on the first wagon, just got to trim up some bits then ready for gloss varnish. Cheers Ali
  14. Nice work there! What size wire did you use on the 33? Looking to do similar on a few 66's in due course. Which sound decoders & files do you recommend? Cheers Ali
  15. After seeing the prototypes and the first version of the livery I must say I'm happy to wait, yes annoyed that its going to be another 4+ months min but at least lets me save up for them etc. I think once they've got the livery cracked its going to be one hell of a model! Well done to Dapol for showing the prototypes and the design review & progress system for them.
  16. Totally agree, still sticking to the DRS livery ones but slowly succumbing to a Scotrail 68 but only 1! The DRS livery as it stands looks ok so can't wait to see the second go!!!
  17. Hello, Long time no post. Modelling time has been a bit limited/disrupted since the new year began with work getting a shake up (felt more like a grenade being dropped into the water) and everything else. Anyways, PFA: Been making good albeit slow progress on these, not done anything more to the first one yet but second and third are primed and started spraying the warning yellow parts. Couldn't resist when I was fitting decoders to 57309 & 37405 putting them behind each one. Oh, cheated slightly with the superstructure frame work and created a 1:1 scale plan drawings of the frame work then cut, laid and glued together on top of the template. I spotted a box section mid way along the wagon on the prototypes so will add these later, looking to use 4x4mm square brass box section - still to source this. KWA: Not made too much progress of this lately. I've primed the bogies, ramp parts & the tool box. started painting the yellow parts. Painting yellow seems to be far better and consistent using the airbrush, just building the coats up, think in the future I'll use a white primer than grey. Before I prime the body/chassis I'll source coupling hooks. Wagon weathering: I've had a go at dry brushing the inside of an MFA wagon once it has been painted dark rust - its the maroon MFA I dusted up previously. I used sleeper grime first with a light brushing of frame dirt - its not easily visible. It looks better than the weathering powders. I might still add a dusting of light grey to illustrate new ballet but only a very light coat. The texture inside the wagon is left over PVA glue from the previous ballast load, think its helped with the affect. Other: I got the DCC concepts rolling road which is great, saves loads of time getting the temporary track out to run a loco in or test on DCC (the layout is buried under a load of stuff). Upgraded the airbrush to the Neo for Iwata, far nicer to use over the ones that came with the compressor. Also ordered a cleaning station pot. Anyway, until next time. Cheers Ali
  18. Hi Darryl, if your fairly good at electronics, check out this web page: http://www.dcc-updates.uk Cheers Ali
  19. Cool, thank you for the feed back, presume there not taking pre-orders yet! Lol
  20. Don't know how I ended up on the DRS shop website but they are advertising a 68001 model. No details if its Dapol it just says: "Coming Soon New Class 68001 Model! Might be new loco number 4 this year on top of 66434, 68002 & 68005! link Cheers Ali
  21. Just pre-ordered 68002 & 68005 from another well known northern distributor on price promise & free P&P before it goes up as well. Wanted to hold fire pre-ordering until I'd seen the DRS livery but don't want to get caught with a price hike like I did with 66434! I have a Kernow account as well but couldn't see anywhere about price promise.
  22. looks good, big box? Any ideas as to when we'll see the DRS liveried version?
  23. Nice work Jack. What wire size did you use for the coupling bar? Any recommended with for it? Cheers Ali
