  1. "Darth Vader" at Nagasaki, April 2012 (at least Darth Vader-ish!) Next a blue class 26 in service south of Carlisle
  2. As a former employee of Castle Cement (now part of the Hanson/Heidelberg Cement Group) of which Ketton is one of the major plants I am horrified to see those tankers with the Bl** C*rcl* logo!!!! Otherwise, love it.
  3. Another? Where? I haven't seen any others than the one I posted. Glad you like it though.
  4. 25 190 approaches Dumfries with a Carlisle-Glasgow Central train. Date unknown but perhaps Aug 3rd 1984. 37 027 approaches County March Summit soon after leaving Tyndrum Upper, Sep 7th 1984 Celebrity Class 40 D200 at Inverness Works open day Jun 28th 1986. (Notice the Deltic lurking in the background.) Three 26s at Perth all in different grey liveries. 26 037 in Railfreight grey, 26 006 in triple grey and 26 003 (just) in Dutch. I can't remember when but I think it was early 90s, taken from an excursion from the Leeds area to Inverness ("Highland Explorer")
  5. At Fort William 20 049 assembles the evening sleeper service for Euston, including Ethel2, whilst 37 081 waits to take the train out later, Sep 7th 1984. 37 035 potters around Achnasheen during a period of track renewal, Sep 11th 1984. 37 188 rolls into Glasgow Queen Street. (Possibly Aug 1983)
  6. For me the layout I always go back to is Steve Flint's Kyle of Tongue. As for modelling there was an article in RM in the early 80s by a guy from Swindon (sorry, can't recall your name if you're reading this) about converting a Lima 33 to a 26. Both bring back memories of when I occasionally worked in Glasgow and spent some time in the evenings in Queen Street station listening to the sound of all those Sulzers idling away and dreaming of far off places!
  7. Thanks for this guys! I remember stumbling on this one day whilst channel hopping and never could find it again.
  8. Apologies for the poor quality of these pictures. 56075 West Yorkshire Enterprise on a Leeds-Carlisle turn just north of Skipton. Note the old Skipton-Colne line in the background. I've no idea when it was since I didn't make a note of it at the time. Anybody know? This was the days when BR occasionally did interesting things for enthusiasts. Can't imagine Northern ever doing anything like this! Subsequently found this: http://www.sharehistory.org/big-nige-6115/uploads/8920-56075-west-yorkshire-enterprise-plus-47453-leeds-1703920 So it seems it was 17th March 1990
  9. A quick google search threw up this:Refer to http://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4333 , specifically post #7.
  10. You might just have solved a query for me. I have a photo of an NSE liveried 47 hauling blue and gray coaches over Arten Gill viaduct from sometime around the date you quote. Thanks!
  11. Just checked in my Parkin - looks to me like a diagram 30 Griddle car with the bar end to the front. (Numbers 1100-1102.)
  12. 27050 approaches Achnasheen Sep 11th 1984 with the late morning service from Kyle of Localsh to Inverness.
  13. Have a look at this website if you're not familiar with it: http://www.disused-stations.org.ukLots of interesting entries including Nottingham London Road.
  14. 26030 (I think) obviously not long out of works, possibly September 1981, running along the shores of Loch Carron near Plockton heading towards Kyle of Localsh.
  15. 60091 rolls into Hebden Bridge today (29th Oct 2014) at 11:30 with the Preston to Lindsey oil tanks.
  16. I'm sure many of you will have discovered this link: http://maps.nls.uk/os/6inch-england-and-wales/index.html Among other things it allows an overlay of old OS maps onto Google maps satellite imagery. Great for "then and now" comparisons
  17. 57012 and 57007 trundle southbound through Ribblehead, April 16th 2014. Hope you like it guys!
  18. 27 050 at Kyle: http://railwayherald.../view/198255/PL http://railwayherald.../view/198256/PL
  19. Sounds the right timescale except mine was heading north.
  20. I have a photo of an unidentified 47 in NSE livery hauling a rake of MK1s in blue and grey crossing Arten Gill viaduct on the S&C. Can't remember when either!
  21. 60020 was in Skipton today (and earlier in the week?) with the Swinden quarry empties. Only 10 hoppers on today, hope the others hadn't come adrift somewhere along the line!
