  1. I always thought that the red and blue markings signified brake compatibilty. Maybe I'm wrong.
  2. No 9 I think is Helmsdale on the Far North line. As evidence I present: https://www.scottish-places.info/features/featurefirst93515.html and https://www.alamy.com/helmsdale-railway-station-scotland-march-2014-image67408605.html and from the opposite direction: https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4421212
  3. Number 8 I suggest is here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.2922857,-5.7232721,3a,75y,334.59h,80.13t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWI2bQE6FyFicp8k7kLC1jg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Badicaul a couple of miles or so north of Kyle of Localsh before the road was improved and the houses built/extended. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.2932359,-5.7238556,3a,30.7y,314.99h,85.15t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1saMZyroWd_idVU5FEq3VGMg!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DaMZyroWd_idVU5FEq3VGMg%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D352.81052%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656 The more I look at the rocky shore line on the photo and compare the google maps image above the more convinced I am.
  4. Not very good quality I'm afraid but here's another.
  5. In the abscence of any top flight football today here's a "footballer" making it's way up the branch from Skipton to Swinden quarry, 14th March 2020
  6. According to a report in the local Skipton rag there is a planning application in to demolish the old engine shed and replace it with light industrial units. (https://www.cravenherald.co.uk/news/18295474.homes-industrial-units-planned-skipton/ towards the bottom of the report). So if you want to see it, hurry up!
  7. There's a photo of 27001 in that state in "Looking back at class 26 & 27 locomotives" (Kevin Derrick, Strathwood Press) on page 62.
  8. Hi! I've just been sorting through some old negatives and come across this which I thought was worth showing. I'm not sure where it is but possibly Northallerton - I'm sure someone will know! Apologies for the poor quality - it was taken on my old Box Brownie in 1963 or 1964.
  9. Absolutely no help in answering the questions raised in this topic but there's a fine aerial photo of Woodside station (which puts its position right in context right next to the river) in the book "England's railway heritage from the air" by Peter Waller.
  10. My credit card visited Ironhorse Hobbies of Christchurch NZ and I had some goods delivered to my sister-in-law in Wellington. I then flew out to visit and collect it. That's 11,500+ miles as the crow flies. Does that count?
  11. Attached is a copy of the relevant section from Keith Parkin's book. Hope it helps but seems to me that the word "uniquely" answers your question!
  12. OK, so I've found my notebook. I took the photos in September 1981 and noted the coach as Sc9000, formerly 9276 though goodness knows how I knew that - probably a Platform 5 booklet. Hope that helps solve the puzzle.
  13. I have 2 photos showing both sides of a BSOT at Kyle of Localsh. Unfortunately not the one you are interested in as it doesn't have the Scotrail sticker. However the red lining covers 3 window bays on both sides. I can't find my notebook from the time at the moment but from memory it was either Sc9000 or Sc9004. Not much use I'm afraid but might be of interest. When I've got time I'll scan the photos and post them if you wish.
  14. Do what I did when my tablet get stuck in an endless loop of attempt update, failure to update, roll back, (repeat ad nauseam). I created a media creation tool (downloaded from MS website) on a usb stick, binned everything including reformating hard drive and did a complete reinstallation from scratch. (See my post dated April 24th.) Haven't had an issue since. Admittedly you might have driver issues (curable) and have to reinstall any apps you installed yourself but doing that solved my issues with updates (which were nowhere near as bad as the ones you are suffering).
  15. Another went through the following day (21 May) dragging 4 unloaded kFAs. So probably was route learning. https://www.railcam.uk/stills/galleries/g.php?sfpg=SG9ydG9uLyoqZGQxNjY2ODk0ODlmMDIxN2M2ZTIxNjkyNTIzNzJmY2Y http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O07584/2019/05/21/advanced
  16. Hi! Just seen a Colas 56 heading along the Aire Valley towards Skipton at about 16:30. Personally, I've never seen one in this neck of the woods before. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this working is/was about please? http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O07256/2019/05/20/advanced Thanks Regards David
  17. I have a copy of David Larkin's book "BR General Parcels Rolling Stock, a pictorial survey"and it has a photo of an LMS BG in blue & grey which appears to have its corridor connector still in place. It is vehicle number M31262M (lot 1357) and is at Plymouth in 1969. Hope that helps.
  18. Hi! I had that problem too. One solution (not tried it myself) might be this: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-mount-hard-drive-folder-windows-10 It might fool Windows into thinking you've got oodles of free disk space. Another, which I have tried and worked fine on my 1gb ram, 32gb drive tablet: https://cd-rw.org/t/linx-and-lamina-7-8-10-tablet-owners-thread-drivers-included/43/10 but make sure you back up your drivers first. See https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/68426-backup-restore-device-drivers-windows-10-a.html Plus your data, and you'll have to reinstall any additional software and your data. Got me out of the persistent "You must update" rat-trap. Have fun! Regards David
  19. I had one years ago (early 60s) which I ran on my Hornby Dublo 3 rail set. (Still got it! And a Standard 5.) I later configured it to run on 2 rail. So unless something significant changed on the chassis then yes it can.
  20. Wondering why "view unread content"  will only show the last 32 minutes worth with no option to load more whilst on Firefox but can see lots of entries and the "load more" button whilst using IE11. Also, cannot enter any status info on Firefox but can on IE11. Weird!

I now have unread content up to 2 hours ago and then a gap to 5 years?

Is this because I'm now using Chrome instead of Firefox?

      Mike.

@Enterprisingwestern - No, shouldn't be anything to do with that - it was due to the bug when a blog entry has been edited where a gap is created in between the initial blog post and the edit date/time. This was the entry which caused the issue -

  21. Just in case anyone has missed these (posted in the "Scottish Region photos 1980's" topic): https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/429-scottish-region-photos-1980s/page-22&do=findComment&comment=2878515
  22. Thanks, yes I was aware of that - I was making an oblique reference to posts numbered 19, 45 and 58. Too subtle for my own good!!
  23. 25007 (& probably 25006 beyond) on the scrap line at Swindon Works open day 6th June 1981. Details of loco history at https://www.derbysulzers.com/5157.html Notice the colour of the roof panel.
