  1. I can confirm the spotters are now packing there cheese and pickle sandwich’s, pork pies and of course lashings and lashings of lemonade. Ready for departure from Malvern Road Cheltenham. There’s not many seats left for late comers and arrival will be before midday tomorrow Dan
  2. Nice one Fantastic vid. Do like the 33. sounds and looks great and my wife even brought me a cup of tea whilst I was watching it. What a result Thanks for sharing Dan
  3. Very nice looking layout. Enjoyed reading and watching the progress. Also nice to see a good selection of stock running too. Tried the same LED lighting too. Improvement was made. I’ve since opted for ceiling mounted LED 6ft strip lighting and I could believe The difference this made to the what similar looking 6 foot tubes. Thanks for sharing Dan
  4. Just had a quick look at your you tube link. A very enjoyable way to spend my lunch break. As well as the nice view of of the layout I really enjoyed the bird song in the back ground. ( how have you done that) It so reminded me of a hot summers day I was totally lost for a while until I looked out into the wet miserable office of car park. Thanks Dan
  5. Looking on that street view map Link. I turned it round and spotted a beer keg water fountain. My missus wants the garden done this year. What a great idea. Thanks for that
  6. Hi Phatbob Sounds very interesting. Got any pics for us Dan
  7. Hi there you may not be aware But you will probably get a better audience and response by listing this in layout topics. Good luck with this new project Dan
  8. Hi Andy that's just not fair how can you do something so good and so quick. Really nice detail there and what a difference it has made to the whole scene. Ten out of ten as usual Dan
  9. Today has seen the instillation of an Six foot LED stripight tube above the viaduct. It's very impressive the amount of light and spread it gives out. I can highly recommend this type of lighting. I'm sure the pics won't show the unbelievable difference. But here goes. I put up before and after shots. I hope it shows the difference. The new lighting is with out the warships if it doesn't Dan
  10. Hi Andy Had a big catch up on this today. Amazing amount has been successful achieved by you. Very inspirational. Thank you. I notice in one of your pics the lighting above the layout appears to be strip lightings. They seem to give off an adequate amount of light for your layout. I'm going to do something similar for my layout. I'm thinking LED strips on the ceiling above. Positioning them above the edge of the layout and not directly above the centre of the layout boards. Is this something you would do or something different Thanks Dan
  11. Yeap here's another viewer today Absolutely fantastic the detail as mentioned above in the structures is superb. My favourite view point was looking up from the end board in to the station and at platform level below the canopies. At that height it really did feel I was one of the passengers waiting to board the next train as it slowly pulled in to the station. Brilliant thank you Dan
  12. Perfect in regards to floor fitment .my floor was built on top of the beems. Making it that much closer to the ceiling. I'm imagining your beams would be very near the size used on mine. Ha.... door lock that was the first thing I bought before any building got underway and was supposed to be fitted after final buildings inspection but wasn't Should of waited for you to do yours first then maybe i would of thought of doing the double garage for my children first also Good luck Dan
  13. Sorry not shorter in length but in the height of the two beems you are having installed Dan
  14. Hi Teaky Did the same in attic for a railway room approx 30 foot by 15 foot. Also using four very large steels bolted together to make two long beems. Though when they arrived and were fitted whilst away on holiday they were some what tall than expected. They had been calculated correctly by the engineer. But the extra height ment the new floor was at least afoot and a half higher (meaning the room had shrank in height and width) sadly all fitted a near completion on my return If there is an option that you can get three slightly shorter steels fitted go with it. The space gain on a lower floor could be approx three feet in width to that room. Give it some thought Ps my new railway room was taken over by the kids and I was evicted to the garage any way If you are new to attic exstentions I may be able to help with the things that I got wrong/right Dan
  15. Thanks Geoff for posting.... without this update the likes of me who have started in the hobby a very short time would have never known Nought about its existence. Very pleased to see it and will read through tonight with great interest Thanks Dan
  16. Just had a very good look at the pics and it is very pleasing to the eye. Pleases can you tell me do you have anything special in regards to lighting whilst set up in your garage. I have noticed Pleanty of natural light from the windows but was more wondering if you were using strip lights and if so what bulbs. Many thanks Dan
  17. Nice to see the latest.i also find it very inspirational and very helpfully with all feed back given on this sight. I really gives me the motivation to do more and better. Go on get that layout started Dan

  19. Hi Andy Just got back from a ten day holiday and thought goodness my lawn grown a lot Then had a catch up on your progress. It must be the weather as I see plenty has grown on your layout too. Like every ones says it really does look the part. Well done sir Looking forward to seeing the motive power running through Dan

  21. Great vid Phil Just watched this pool side next to the FREE BAR whilst on hols in Spain. The folks around me have been looking across at the strange sounds coming from my IPad ( turned up full sound of course) Nice one thanks for posting. Anyway free bar !!! Dan
  22. That's a cracking start Chris You've done a grand job with your weathering experiment on the brick work The panniers look mighty fine too Dan
  23. Had a few hours yesterday so spent the morning weathering up three Oxford warwells. At first I was very unsure to buy these or the Hatton version. But taking them out the box I was more than satisfied with The build quality. Though I am not able to comment on true accuracy of the model. I was really impressed with how the chains where attached and painting them was very easy as I simply Slid a sheet of card between them and the wagon It was quick fifteen minute weathering job with paint and powders just to get them on the layout. A redo Will be done later. Military models are airfix and fit the wells nicely. Now I awaite the war flats for other military vehicles Dan
  24. I am really impressed not just with the quality of the layout but the lighting too. Is that just the rope leds you showed in an earlier post or something else Thanks Dan
