  1. Yet they still include a prominent picture of a 9f next to Phase 3! I'm getting into the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp at the moment. They've changed their minds so many times that who knows what will come next! Gives some people plenty to discuss, though... ;)
  2. Further changes, I've made it into a double track oval, though the sidings at the front have stayed the same. Track laid and ModelTech ProTrack Rail Aligners fitted, I'm quite impressed with them. I've also bought a load of buildings from Modelux and InTheGreenwoodLaser.
  3. Yes, that isn't well written, I read it as saying they are part of phases 3 and 4. It can be read either your way or mine, it isn't at all clear!
  4. I feel we are all speculating when we don't actually know what was going on, the 0-6-0Ts were always in phase 3, so not due to be launched any earlier and I suspect that most of the phase 1-4 locos were quite well along the design phase. How far along we would have to guess. Trouble with those videos is that people say what they think people want to hear rather than what is actually the case so i don't take them as gospel. As to the "cohesive(ness)" of the range that depends on who you speak to and what they want rather than what will sell best, for that i suspect Hornby's take will be different to yours and mine and probably more realistic as it has a lot less bias. From what has come so far the biggest mistake they've made was not to launch the 08 in green and as J-Lewis has said the 21t mineral wagon instead of the much more common 16t. For the train set market (which, remember, seems to have been their main market initially) they seem to have hit the nail on the head, the rest of us just need to be patient.
  5. Bring back the clapometer! ;)
  6. But they weren't, they've always been in phase 3, the only delay has been in the rollout, which probably explains things better.
  7. I'm not sure what the connection is here, especially to the comment about them having an 0-4-0 shunter. Arnold doesn't have any 0-6-0s in TT so any such loco would be new to the Hornby Group TT stable, Tillig and Roco both do 0-6-0s but they have no connection to Hornby except as competitors! As an aside how many TT locos have Arnold produced as new models in the past few years, not many I suspect.
  8. In addition it's predecessors which look very similar have been around since pre WW2 and the class itself since the early 50s and it's been just about everywhere in the country as a shunter, something that can't be said for any steam 0-6-0 shunter! Perhaps there's more logic to it than some people give credit... But it's not a steam loco, and there's the issue in many steam enthusiast's eyes.
  9. No, but I'll be interested to see any comments as I'll need three at the end of some sidings! I was thinking of making my own as it's only a ramp!
  10. Hence they are going for tidal energy systems, which from what i remember were the original idea and tend to be in less exposed locations, now it's more important to get it going perhaps we'll see more of it.
  11. I was watching Carry On Constable not so long ago and wondered if anyone knew the location of the bit where Constable Constable was trying to chat up Policewoman Passworthy and she walked up some steps to a footbridge and he carried on along the pavement and still talking to her? I am assuming there was a railway behind but couldn't see any clues, probably would be somewhere near the studios as well. I have to put in a long footbridge down to a road on my new TT120 layout and thought it would be nice to recreate this scene!

Wonder if it's a pre-requisite for ginger station cats... George at Stourbridge! (The station doesn't have barriers so the closest he can get!)
  15. Perhaps for pulling or pushing stuff round R1 curves you'll need some movement with that type of coupling which is different to the hook and bar coupling seen on 00 stock? I can't check to see as all my curves are minimum R2!

    Or retired owners.. ;)
  17. Consistency I expect, if they hadn't then another team would have picked it up and said "Well you didn't penalise him!"
  18. Out of interest, what's the difference?
  19. It's an interesting point, they go back further than many people realise. I still have my 1965 Combine where I'd added a sheet of paper with D400 to D449 listed (and underlined!) on it. I can remember them going up and down the WCML along with the last of steam which I would think would surprise many people who don't know their history! I used to spot where Croston Road crossed over the WCML in Lostock Hall, back then there were sidings on both sides but it's all gone now!

I see they described him as gentle and loving but those ears tell a different story!!
  21. It'd still go in the boot, just taking up what little space there is in there I expect. I looked at it at one point but I recon that using a diesel rather than a petrol I had a 25% fuel saving over the petrol and I kept the boot space, so just lived with the slight extra i would have to pay on fuel compared with LPG. When I looked at it I calculated that the cost of installing it (I would have to get it done, I couldn't do it myself) would take several years to repay it and I changed cars every 2 or 3 years which meant another install cost which also affected the running costs.
  22. I think they have acknowledged that it will sell by including it on the list in the early stages. But are you really saying that it will sell better than the locos they're already got into or going into production?! I think you've let you love of all things GWR get the better of logic! ;) :)
  23. Where have you been hiding! A 57xx Pannier was announced in the catalogue/brochure a year ago, page 9, supposedly in phases 3 or 4, so you'll have a year or two (or three!) to wait but it's coming. As far as I know they haven't announced a Jinty at all, it's just Social Media froth based on the fact that both the Triang 00 and TT ranges back in the 50s had one so it was thought they'd copy that and they said another 0-6-0 steam loco was coming in addition to ones already announced. People making 2+2 = whatever they want, I'm afraid, though I hope they are right as I'd get one. TBH a 2-6-4T like the old HD one would be nice, I do like those locos (and their LMS siblings!) and they were quite widespread. As far as I am concerned a Pannier/Autocoach/Toad would be the last things on my list of wants, though I'm a London Midland (NW) man myself so that's not surprising! But it does show the issues they have. You can't please everyone...
  24. Not to mention, like Football, they'll go anywhere that will pay them enough, regardless of any dubious goings-on in the country such as human rights issues. It took an invasion of another country as a land grab to get one knocked off...
