  1. It'd still go in the boot, just taking up what little space there is in there I expect. I looked at it at one point but I recon that using a diesel rather than a petrol I had a 25% fuel saving over the petrol and I kept the boot space, so just lived with the slight extra i would have to pay on fuel compared with LPG. When I looked at it I calculated that the cost of installing it (I would have to get it done, I couldn't do it myself) would take several years to repay it and I changed cars every 2 or 3 years which meant another install cost which also affected the running costs.
  2. I think they have acknowledged that it will sell by including it on the list in the early stages. But are you really saying that it will sell better than the locos they're already got into or going into production?! I think you've let you love of all things GWR get the better of logic! ;) :)
  3. Where have you been hiding! A 57xx Pannier was announced in the catalogue/brochure a year ago, page 9, supposedly in phases 3 or 4, so you'll have a year or two (or three!) to wait but it's coming. As far as I know they haven't announced a Jinty at all, it's just Social Media froth based on the fact that both the Triang 00 and TT ranges back in the 50s had one so it was thought they'd copy that and they said another 0-6-0 steam loco was coming in addition to ones already announced. People making 2+2 = whatever they want, I'm afraid, though I hope they are right as I'd get one. TBH a 2-6-4T like the old HD one would be nice, I do like those locos (and their LMS siblings!) and they were quite widespread. As far as I am concerned a Pannier/Autocoach/Toad would be the last things on my list of wants, though I'm a London Midland (NW) man myself so that's not surprising! But it does show the issues they have. You can't please everyone...
  4. Not to mention, like Football, they'll go anywhere that will pay them enough, regardless of any dubious goings-on in the country such as human rights issues. It took an invasion of another country as a land grab to get one knocked off...
  5. You're right, I mixed the two up, they both post on the same FB pages!
  6. I understand he uses Lincoln bodies and those Corgi statics for most of his conversions. They rescale the 3mm stuff to TT120. He posts a lot on FB.
  7. It's not showing as repeating on live TV but it is available via their website if you want to watch it on your computer.
  8. That's the key sentence... If they don't ask, just let them have fun in ignorance...
  9. I like this (from the BBC report above): "World champion Max Verstappen made reference to the fine he was given for touching the rear wing of Hamilton's car at the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix. "If touching a rear wing is $50k, I would like to know what a million is," he said." I think he could probably answer his own question if he looks back at his antics over the years.
  10. I suppose it depends on what you call reasonable. I was watching a video of Railways around Preston in the 50s and 60s and there were plenty of 4 and 5 coach trains, my layout is 9ft and they'd fit on the straights with no issues. People get too fixated with 10 and 12 coaches when much shorter ones were common.
  11. "Real" cars surely didn't have heaters! (As I'm sure Alastair will tell you!) ;) Our Octavia has a three cylinder 1.0l turbo engine, power 110PS, top speed 120mph (nearly got there on the Autobahn this year!) and is economical as well, near 50mpg measuring using Fuelly (not inaccurate brim to brim methods) over the two years we've had it. More than happy with it.
  12. Most steering wheels are that shape now, who knew that BL were ahead of their time back in '73! ;)
  13. I know diesel can burn, but it's not known for exploding, and it's extremely unlikely it was diesel that caused the fire to start, diesel can only ignite with an outside source, so in this case it's that which has caused it, probably an electrical fault, we shall see what in due course. I can understand you defending reports that are trying to blame EV's, but personally I'd have just waited and then said "I told you so!". Me? I'll just wait for the report.
  14. Must be better photos than on the photos I've seen, then, I can't make out the reg plate at all. What doesn't make sense is that it was an "explosion" from the passenger side and if you care to look up diesel car fires you'd find that that simply doesn't happen, unless, as one site said, there's a bomb under it which i suspect is unlikely! So, as I said, we'll have to wait and see because at the moment what we see doesn't add up to a simply pure diesel car fire, a cloned or modified car that hasn't been declared as such perhaps?

    Never say never...
  16. I've seen the two videos, one in front, one behind, but can't find any information that's been released to positively identify the make and specific model or cause of the explosion. All online research I've done would indicate that a diesel would not have given the explosion seen in the video, though a lithium-ion battery, even a "mild" version, could do, and looking at the video it would seem to be the same place in the car as the one in my Octavia, under the front passenger seat. But there again, you've now dragged me into speculating!!
  17. The only V8s i saw as a kid were in F1 stock cars and a very small number of road cars, mainly American but with the odd small British V8 and the 3.5 Rover lump. Even then, other than the American things, the cars weren't very big!
  18. Hence I put the ""! Though perhaps I should have put the word "style" after it - large cars with V8s, not a Northern hemisphere "thing" except in the good ol' USofA, not round here, ours have a bit more style and nowhere near as big, though some have a V8, or even a V12!! 🤣
  19. Bet the Guard was pleased when it was sidelined, the driver and fireman were Ok, having a nice smooth ride, but pity the poor Guard in his little rattle box.
  20. I must admit that I find those large "American" cars just as boring to look at as the small Euro cars you criticise! Once you've seen one large V8 you've seen 'em all! ;)
  21. So you've just done the same thing as those you criticise... Why can't people just wait and see.
  22. Current reporting, elsewhere on the forum (Level Crossings thread I think!), is that it was a diesel hybrid, the talk is that diesel fuel would not have caused the conflagration that was seen. But until there's something official announced who knows...
  23. That's interesting. On our way back from Germany we stopped over in Brugges and the car park we used was underground and had half a dozen or so EV charging points!
