No physical difference, PFB was the original TOPS code, KWB is the revised code introduced following the 1990 recast of private owner TOPS codes. The number panels weren't initially filled in when fitted, the wagons relying on the yellow number plates for identification. The look is correct for the late 70s/early 80s.

The widths of the stripes had already been raised with Oxford a couple of weeks ago so, over the weekend, the Mk.3 sleeper that resides out the back of Loughborough shed was measured up for them. This confirms there is a slight discrepancy (scaling out at less than +/-0.5mm) in the stripe widths on the livery sample. This info has now been passed to Oxford. It's a common misconception that the red and white are the same widths, they're not.

Oxford received the Intercity livery samples last week, the blue/grey and Stobart samples are due around the end of the month with Virgin further away. Although they need corrections, Oxford will be loaning one of the Intercity samples for display on the Rail Express stand at the Great Central event this weekend.

Hattons has kindly loaned three of their limited edition Dapol bubble cars for display over the weekend, which you're find on the Rail Express Modeller stand (no.23 in the main hall - just look for a whole load of Railfreight triple grey). Also on show among others will be the DJM Mermaid, Kernow Clay Tiger wagon and the Bachmann Class 66 in Aggregate Industries colours.

37114 has the welded roof, as introduced from 37096. Everything before was riveted, the most obvious sign of this being the three reinforcing strips across the boiler compartment.

The translators used by NSE were ADB975864/867/875, ADB975971-978 (although IIRC two of this series weren't) and ADB977087. Pictures of most of these can be found at http://www.departmentals.com Pic 1 is either ADB975974 or ADB975978 in current day Arlington guise. Pics 2 and 3 don't have translators, not needed for coupling to EPBs and other slam door stock. Pic 4 is two of the ADB975971-978 batch by the looks of it. These four were taken on by Porterbrook upon privatisation and repainted in purple/white. The renumbering into the 6376-79 series came in 2003 and they were repainted in blue in 2010-11.

Although they were all produced together, the three 66s were split for shipping. As I understand it, a part batch of the LTM 66s has arrived in the UK but by no means all, the rest are still on the way. Those that are here are being held at Barwell until the rest arrive, then they all get shipped to the LTM together. Simon

Hattons is selling 500 of each, so 1,000 for public release. The other 1,000 are for Drax's corporate purposes. Simon
