  1. They would be better off making their railroad range more reasonable in price. There is room to appeal to both ends of the market with European quality models and more sturdy, less detailed models much like Oxford Rail are doing right now.
  2. Doing this doesn't tend to reduce prices though does it? We ended up with sub-par models like the 42xx/5205 locos at normal prices.
  3. I've got back on my laptop and I've had a bit more of a look online to see if I could find any more. 5764 on the Severn Valley has the rear of the cab painted black and I believe 5526 and 5786 (when in GWR green) on the SDR does too. I also found this on Ian Rathbone's website http://www.ianrathbonemodelpainting.co.uk/gwr-locomotive-liveries-1923-39.php The gwr.org page that showed it must have been edited as it doesn't talk about the back of the cab anymore. So, I'm a little unsure over what the correct colour for th back of the cab should be now.
  4. Is the cab rear not black on GWR locos? I seem to remember reading that on gwr.org. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone and it's a real pain for that
  5. err, it's not on their website hence why I asked...
  6. Whenever I check on the SE Finecast website it's not on there. Where can I get one? http://www.sefinecast.co.uk/Contents.htm
  7. I've been having a think recently about this class as I'd really like one for my layout and also because it's quite difficult to find a kit in 00. Whenever this prototype was suggested it was always shot down because of the variations in the class over their lifespan and the fact that none made it into BR. However, with Bachmann now tooling for locomotives with a great deal of differences between models, is this now becoming more realistic? We have the 1P and now the J72 coming soon which both contained many detail differences over their lifetime as well as being similarly small locomotives. The Bulldog and 74xx certainly look more likely given this years announcements of revised tooling for the pre-existing range. Could Bachmann possibly do one in the future? Unlikely, but definitely not as crazy as it first appeared I hope!
  8. I doubt it's been a slow seller, the early condition has sold out at all retailers I can find. I don't know about the others but they are only including two versions in a flash sale so presumably they are doing quite well.
  9. A nice model, it looks enough to me like a Dean Goods to pass as one. I particularly like that some of the finer details are quite secure and not easily broken. It certain't makes me less anxious when it's upside down in it's locomotive cradle! I do wish that they had painted the underside of the boiler green like the rest of the loco but other than that it's a pretty nice locomotive and I'm glad I've bought it. It runs faultlessly so absolutely no qualms on that front and the box it comes is pretty special, I can see why they're pleased with it! I look forward to the plain green one soon.
  10. What was the MRJ issue with the Buxton plan? Looking forward to seeing this develop
  11. I certainly hope so! Although I was very happy that Dapol announced the large prairie and 43xx, it was disappointing that the two big manufacturers announced almost no pre war GWR items. It'll help me save for the Dapol release, but I hope it's not the sign of a general trend from Bachmann or Hornby.
  12. Been looking forward to that 2251 for a while. Should fit in well with my NRM Dean goods
  13. Fantastic, I need to build up the confidence to do that to mine too. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
  14. Let's not stop at toplights. Non corridors, an extension of the Bow Ender range, B sets, pre war auto coaches and some more brown vehicles. While this won't be possible overnight, it Is not unreasonable to hope for many of these items over the next few years given what is available to modellers of other regions, especially the Southern. It's disappointing that Hornby didn't extend their grouping non-corridor range and that Bachmann haven't released any GWR carriages (unless you count the superb Hawksworth auto coach) since the Collett sunshine stock which is an old mainline tooling. If the demand is there to release many of these items in 0 gauge as Dapol have discovered, then surely there is demand in 00 for an up to date range?
  15. Were these primarily used for milk or parcels in the early thirties? What were the differences between the Siphon G's used on parcel trains and the others used on milk trains or were they interchangeable?
  16. Can't see any sign of this on their website
  17. Just seen in the latest BRM that this revised tooling means that they won't be producing any of the previous versions again? Does anyone know why this update affects the original Bachmann Blue Pullman?
  18. Looking forward to the announcement at the Glasgow exhibition next month
  19. Really enjoyed the BRM DVD, the best I've seen to date! I found the digital exclusives really interesting, especially the Buckingham video which I've always wanted to see on film. I find vintage model railways really interesting, especially because they tend to balance interesting operation with scenery. Nice one guys!
  20. I have a print subscription but for this issue I would like to see all the additional digitalfeatures, would downloading this single issue allow me access to all the additional features or is it necessary to have a full digital subscription?
  21. The Engine shed is such a great feature, really enjoyed reading that.
  22. Thanks for that, I must have just been confused with the numbers. Probably the model I am most excited for at the moment!
  23. Sounds like an awesome opportunity, but something I have absolutely no experience or qualifications in. Best of luck to all who apply!
  24. I know this is stated as the 1532 class but isn't the BR version a member of the later 2228 class? I'm just going off Wikipedia so it's probably not particularly accurate
