  1. Oooh, that'll be interesting. I wonder if they will keep going (maybe with another variant of 43xx) or stop development on it, like they have done with one of their other announcements. They've been quite unlucky with other manufacturers announcing the same models at the same time. I guess this is what happens when there is a decreasing pool of viable locomotives and an increasing number of manufacturers.
  2. Why are some people so convinced that Hornby will be announcing one of these? Just wondering if this is based on being ITK, clues given or just a calculated guess? It might explain why was announced just now, seemingly out the blue.
  3. I'm excited about the firebox glow. Prices are rising to meet continental standards but with that we are seeing a move towards higher quality locomotives that they also have in Europe with additional features such as firebox glow, working lights and space for sound. Do you reckon Dapol have tooled it do the earlier 43xx version? I hope that one is done as well sometime
  4. Fantastic news, a great surprise! The DCC arrangement is interesting, unusual not to be putting the chip in the tender, I hope it will still have plenty of weight.
  5. That's a real shame, especially as the corridor stock was successful.
  6. I really can't see Hornby announcing a 94xx because the caption under the photo on their blog basically said that they'd done some research but not taken it any further. I think it's wishful thinking because of the waiting times for the Bachmann release.
  7. The Compound and all their ex Midland locomotives are stunning. The 3F is superb, and despite it being slightly let down by the drawbar, it looks fantastic and runs so well. I'm very excited for the Midland 1P if it is upto the standard of these models. The L&Y class 5 is another fantastic model along with the recently released Webb Coal tank. Edit: How could I forget the Dukedog and the City Class? They are stunning
  8. Perhaps Pendennis Castle too? Isn't it close to returning to service?
  9. That's a good shout. Didn't they also say around the time of H class announcement that they had measured some other pieces of rolling stock at the Bluebell?
  10. Looking forward to either an announcement on something I'm wanting or if not, then a chance for me to save money as I really have too much stuff anyway. I'm guessing that there'll be an announcement of something pre-grouping that is now preserved (Probably Caledonian 812). Something modern image (My knowledge of this era is limited so I won't bother guessing) There always seems to be at least one large steam loco, probably a King Arthur. A new set of coaches as I don't think any were announced last year. Maybe some LBSCR coaches, but that's a wild guess.
  11. Where does it say that there? I couldn't find it on ANTB when I looked
  12. I was told most likely January at Warley.
  13. My mistake, was it the J36's tender that was featured in the Collector's Club recently?
  14. I'm going for a Caley 812 after the Paul Isles picture and I would be very surprised if it wasn't this one. I reckon a few other scottish models will follow too over the next few years, as Hornby tend to produce a few area related models in quick succession. For example, the B12, D16 and J15
  15. I subscribed last week as the soldering iron looked like a good deal. Less of a discount on the magazine though as others have said
  16. I had wondered that too as the Sunshine livery has a black rear axle on the loco. I'm sure some aficianado on Southern Railway liveries wil be able to shed some light on it though.
  17. It's pretty active on there, people have been saying for years that Twitter and Facebook are dying but there's very little sign of them losing ground. They are both as popular as ever and if increasing the character count proves to be a bad move then they will no doubt decrease the limit back to 140.
  18. I take it you haven't seen twitter in a long time then. It's very popular with young people like myself, and the political views of people on twitter are very diverse.
  19. Thanks, but it's not that I've not seen most of the announcements because they've all been mentioned on this forum. What I'm getting at is that these clues generally aren't there for all to see on the blog which is being reduced to a monthly feature. Lets have a look at the sources for those clues. Lord Nelson - Engine Shed Blog (although I'm not totally convinced by that. Didn't they use a different 'working' cover before last year or am I mixing it up with another announcement?) Something GWR - Collectors Club Something Industrial - Collectors Club NBR - Collectors Club LBSC - Collectors Club LSWR T9 - Twitter Brighton Belle - Engine Shed before being removed While it is good that they are still doing this in the Collectors Club, they would be better off placing this in the Engine Shed in order to reach a wider audience. I can appreciate the thinking behind this move, they want to give something back to customers who pay the Collector's Club fee but dropping little bits of information and teasers is about garnering as much excitement as possible before a new release and so limiting this information to just members kind of defeats the point in my view. Letting us know when they are going to make these announcements would also help increase excitement, because right now we don't know exactly. There is just speculation about Christmas/New Year. They're still doing a better job than Bachmann though at promoting new releases but it's frustrating because they nailed it last year and it's a shame that they've changed what looked to be a winning formula.
  20. They're definitely doing very well at getting their products out on time, it's just a shame that there marketing has taken a backwards step after last year. The clues that kept us guessing haven't been as prominent this year in the Engine Shed. Moving to a monthly engine shed is also a shame.
  21. Such a shame, it seemed like they were on the right track last year and now they've taken a backward step in regards to the way they communicate with customers. Warley is a great place to connect with your customers and would be an ideal place to announce new models. Maybe they have a better plan up their sleeve, I hope so anyway
  22. Mine is far too light. It's noticeably worse than Hornby's old shade.
  23. Looks good, alhough I hope the GWR green is closer in shade than that of the 13xx models.
  24. When they modelled the previous Peckett didn't they avoid preserved examples due to how many modifications they have received since the were in service? Post 325 is a very good match though. Maybe the two photos are unconnected and cover two locomotives entering their range next year. It would be a rather bizarre choice and I don't think it really possesses the 'wow' factor that the Peckett does.
