  1. Although it's not what my model, I won't be able to resist this. The best announcement for me today, very excited!
  2. That's far more differences than I realised The recent video on the Midland 1P outlines the very thorough research but when we get some CADS, if they've got some things wrong then send them an email because they are intent to get it as correct as possible. I might have to move my GWR layout's location from Cornwall to Wales in order to justify them
  3. From past experience, if it's pointed out to Bachmann that they have got something wrong they will gladly change it. If you email them with the information that you have then they'll be very grateful I'm sure
  4. While it is a tad disappointing that there's nothing new to really grab some of us, this is what happens when they are trying to announce models at a later stage of development. If we wanted to wait 4/5 years again for a model then they might have told us about XYZ that they are working on behind the scenes.
  5. Looking forward to those 009 Hunslets.
  6. I'm glad that they are improving existing toolings. This is something that Hornby have done very well recently with some of their models this past year. It's also a great way of keeping the range updated without breaking the bank. Don't forget it says full range will be announced over the next few weeks. So after 12 there will be more anouncements, notably in train sets
  7. Happy to be corrected but I thought we already knew about the J72 being released with a new tooling? Also, I thought V2s were already in the range? The H1 Atlantic looks fantastic, I will definitely be pre-ordering one of them. I'm disappointed that none of my guesses were right though, at least so far anyway.
  8. Some people just want to run trains and aren't interested in building models and they would rather use the time operating their railway or developing the layout itself. Many people who buy RTR like to detail their locomotives too but others get more satisfaction from building the locomotives and rolling stock. Despite a 'reliance' on RTR nowadays most people still model scenery and buildings so the modelling part of this hobby is still alive and well. If you build everything from scratch then that's very impressive, but if you buy RTR and have it running around your loft then that's great too. Just to say, this post is not aimed at anyone in particular or the OP but I find sneering at people who like to buy RTR quite tedious.
  9. I'd love a 2F but I'd be surprised if they announced one tomorrow as they only told us about 1P last year. I hope I am wrong though
  10. I want to just say that Model Rail emailed me and told me that their stock has been replenished and that they've sent out the missing gift. Top marks guys! Thank you!
  11. Yeah I might be getting ahead of myself by a year. I was thinking that with the wagons being released and the loco being imminent (I may have to double check that part) that the next one must surely be in the planning stages. As you say though, seeing the sales figures must be their first consideration and also with them planning to announce locomotives at a later stage in development that probably fits with no new additions this weekend. I think that Talyllyn locomotives would sell like hot cakes. They exist in preservation at a popular railway and with lots of livery variations. Also, one of the ubiquitous Hunslet 'Alice' class seen across quarries and heritage NG railways. Lots of different livery variations and opportunities there.
  12. This was a really interesting feature and I'm looking forward to that steam crane, I wish I took a longer at it at Warley now.
  13. As we aren't getting those locomotives will there be a replacement bus available? I'll get my coat... Edit: the 1P sounds very interesting
  14. Thanks for the update, interesting stuff in regards to moving from China. It was nice to speak to you at Warley where I picked up a bargain ex-LSWR 02. I look forward to my pre-order of a 1361 in the coming months! Have a Happy New Year and a great 2018!
  15. Fantastic news, probably my favourite layout that I've come across. I look forward to next month too! I forgot to say, I particularly enjoyed this month's featured layout and the weathering booklet is a nice feature too.
  16. I'd been really looking forward to the DVD for this month and I wasn't disappointed. I saw at the back of the magazine a picture of Buckingham, is this to be featured on the DVD or in the magazine?
  17. Anyone reckon they'll add another loco to their 009 range?
  18. Been offered a 3 month extension at no extra cost which is nice of them, but given that the gift is advertised as being worth £45.84 the 3 month extension only covers a 3rd of that.
  19. These sold out quickly, can't find any retailers still offering the early condition model except the usual ebay offerings.
  20. Excellent set of videos there
  21. I really like that Bachmann are incorporating features that are in European models now. I love watching Marklin videos on YouTube as they make such high quality models. With rising prices inevitable, it seems like Bachmann have understood that we will ultimately want more for our money and are raising their standards to meet those on the continent.
  22. I think I may do, proper disappointed as I was looking forward to that.
  23. There was a good deal on recently involving screwdrivers, soldering iron and a mat. Mine never arrived and now they are telling me a month later that they are out of stock. So I'm pretty annoyed with them and I wouldn't have bothered subscibing if I knew this would be the case. Thumbs down from me
  24. I'm predicting a small set of announcements from Bachmann in order to allow them to clear the backlog of new releases. I'm guessing that there'll be 1 new steam locomotive, probably a tank locomotive based on the last 2 years. I doubt the steam loco will be anything GWR with the 94xx still so far from release. Maybe something Great Central as others have alluded to? The last 2 years have also had themes, the 30th anniversaries of NSE and railfreight and I expect them to follow this pattern again. I doubt it'll be related to WW1 given that the Ambulance train pack will still be on the shelves. I predict that they will announce some new coaches which other than EMUs/DMUs they generally haven't done over the past few years. Perhaps a Midland Push-Pull set to match the forthcoming 1P? I'll admit that is partially wishful thinking on my part but Bachmann like to sell locomotives to go with their rolling stock. Did Midland 1Ps run with anything else that's available on the market? Possibly the Hornby LMS suburbans but those aren't push pull. Also, with them being a shorter set this must surely save on tooling costs? There will most likely be a few wagons announced too Maybe a new Midland 3F in 'British Railways' livery and a new Compound as stocks of that seem to have cleared? I assume they haven't done a 57xx/8750 in a few years because of the 64xx, maybe this year will be different. I hope that they are really doing this in order to announce a new tooling in a few years time but that's a long shot and wishful thinking again. My main hopes with Bachmann this year aren't so much what they will announce but attempting to clear the backlog of previous years which they did very well at last year in 2017. As nice as it is to see a range of new products being announced, the excitement wears off as the years pass by with little to no visible progress even if the end result is usually a fantastic model! Edit: I also hope nobody else announces a Midland 2F so that Bachmann can release another high quality Midland locomotive in a few years time!
  25. Although I'm as sure as can be that it won't happen this year, I would love it if they were to add to their Midland range in the next few years with a Midland 2F. I'm really looking forward to the 1P and I love their 1F, 3F, 4F and Compound models. They are quality models and I believe the 2F will be a success, I mean just look at it. It's such a good looking victorian engine.
