  1. Reading comments from t-b-g about Roy's lack of leadership got me thinking about his role as a storekeeper at the local power station which was where Ken Hill ( half of Narrow Road) met Roy many years ago. Getting served at the stores was a bit hit and miss as on occassions work on a coach or loco could not be interrupted to serve some dammed Instrument Engineer who darted around like some demented rabbit in car headlights. There was always tomorrow and behaving like that will only lead to a heart attack. Eventually Ken was one of a few who were welcomed at the stores as he was discovered to be a member of the EMGS. From then on a long friendship existed which got me involved with Ken on rewiring a couple of control panels and lunching at Roy's local which was another experience.Ken had the Ford Puma which was really a two seater with space in the back for a parcel. I was the parcel and Ken never drove slowly and the road was very bumpy, not so bad going, but returning on top of a large lunch and a couple of Jars it felt like the Dakar Rally and left me almost being violently - you know what - seeing my lunch again. However it led to me being made very welcome at "Retford" at any time and led to me introducing John (Gamston Bank) Houlden to Roy which turned out to be a blessing as John helped Roy with many tasks not associated with the railway over his latter years. John seldom visits RmWeb so won't be too embarresed by me saying that he was a great friend and help to our beloved Roy.
  2. 30863 Lord Rodney of course to go with "Del Boy".
  3. It has gotter be Arrow as I lived there although wasn't heducated there. What do you mean it shows !!

  5. To be accurate it should have the 1F type Tender.
  6. Manna , Don;t think your getting two votes by posting twice Just like their bloody cricketers tampering with the balls.
  7. Tony, I have copies of magazines with photographs of both layouts in them, however they are stored away in the loft of the garage and I can't access them at present ( Torn Shoulder Tendon). I thought when I saw them in real life that they were very good layouts for there time and were a credit to the Wolverhampton Club. Keep safe,Regards,Derek.
  8. Tony. any chance that you have some photographs of Fordley Park & Leighford that you could post for your younger modellers to see and for us old uns to reminise about. Derek.
  9. Gilbert may be aware of a project in the mid 90's to have judge's attend prisons and such instituations for trials of prisoners rather than taking several defendents to a court. Due to the 1995 Disability Act there was a requirement to make these places compliant. Amongst other places I visited (to carry out surveys was the infamous Berkshire hospital (Broadmoor) I also visited Full Sutton Prison near York ( Category A) and asked why I had to remove my shoes. The officer pointed out that I may have stuff hidden in my shoes. Surely, said I " I would have it inside my socks". Please remove your socks,Sir came the reply. I had learnt to keep my trap shut. I felt safe in all the establishments with the exception of "Broadmoor", especially when the nurse left me locked in a hallway with a "Trustee" who was washing the floor.
  10. No woodenhead. They say it takes someone who's mad to recognise someone else who's mad. My credentials for knowing that I am right are indesputable. How many of you can honestly say that they have also spent time in "Broadmoor" See Clive you now know it makes sense.
  11. I would have reccomended Gilbert but he is not going to want to defend you. Then there was "Horsetan" but he got removed. So it looks like you have two choices, Cutler2579 or Defend yourself. My advice with such limited resources is to Defend yourself as My defence is that your "Mad" and so not fit to stand trial.
  12. I would bet on it not being exibited again, but then I am aquainted to a Lady who is the real Iron Lady and makes Mrs T look like a mere PUSSYCAT.
  13. Belvoir Castle. pronounced Beever Castle.
  14. D9018 Ballymoss. Just edges out St Paddy & Pinza.
  15. 70054 "Dornoch Firth" As for David Bell hope he knows what a lucky sod he is.
  16. Do WE as modellers need a new "Evening star", probably not,but to justify 92167 & 92194 which will sell to modellers Hornby need something Joe Public will buy "Evening star". This makes thw whole 9F project economically viable in the eyes of Hornby.
  17. 61028 Umseke 14D, saw it so many times on Neasden Shed whilst walking round waiting for Father to finish work on a Sunday afternoon. Unlike some people who would bunk sheds. One Sunday afternoon I was walking up the path from the canal feeder to see Police,Ambulance and Fire Brigade attending to a young West Indian fireman (Railway) who had slipped and lost half of his foot under the pony truck wheels of a 2-6-4 Tank. Told by policeman in no uncertain terms to make myself scarce.
  18. Was that areference to the ones with a normal Chimney and those with a Double Blastpipe. Just a thought. Typed whilst Gilbert had posted.
