Hello there! Just a little news about the Iowa Central: the workshops have began to paint the big Baldwin VO-1000 with a first coat of primer. The workshop manager is glad to see the result 🤣

My scratchbuilding project has started... I'm making something similar to this caboose. More... soon

American O Scale: "Portway Terminal Short Line, MN".

For your track, you have to modify the 0-6-0 with a Mike Sharman suspension system. -
I'm still thinking to my gas pumps. I've just found a few minutes ago an old photo diffused on a Facebook group about old service stations. I'm surprised by the size of the pumps. So I'm happy because I think I can keep mine. They have the "good" size. Look at that:

A similar Mogul in 0 scale should be great on my 60's layout 👍 -

The green is 1/43 (Chevrolet 3100) from Altaya/IXO Models and the red is 1/48 (Chevrolet 6400). The red is supposed to be bigger than the green but they aren't at the same size
-
The green: comes from a Altaya collection in 1/43. The red: I have to lowered the chassis: the original connections between the springs and the axle aren't well done. It's an old casting. I'll send you more photos when I have modified. And then, I think my red will be really in 1/48. I've found photos of the prototype and someone who had built the kit. The space between the wheels and the chassis isn't good in 1/48: I have the same problem to correct. A photo is maybe easier to explain than sentences: A nice video I've found on the web. Exactly what I want to model 👍 Stay tuned 😉

Some photos to compare. The red body is too high: the wheels aren't at the good position. The red is smaller than the green one. The green is 1/43 (Chevrolet 3100) and the red is 1/48 (Chevrolet 6400)

So, I've started to build this old kit. The quality of the plastic remembers me some old toys kits from the 70's 😆 I have opened a door. It was possible because of the thin thickness of the parts.

They are very nice models. I like the fine details like the small chains underneath the chassis. But, yes, the price is too high (for me). And it don't includes the custom fees. I keep my "old" Intermountain and Atlas models.

I'm pleased to see your MK1 version layout 👍 -
Anyway, I've bought an old kit which is available from a french model shop to make my grain truck: a difficult kit but a good base!
-
Yes, I'll shoot photos! 4 N scale layouts and 1 HO scale.
-
It's time to wish you a Merry Christmas! At this time, I'm working (rehab) on my "old" N scale layout because it goes to an exhibition by the 7th and 8th of January. 5 US layouts will be exhibited.
-
That's interesting: O scale, street running, I stay tuned here 😉

A new locomotive has arrived in the Iowa Central company: a VO-1000 from Baldwin.

Great! Maybe nostalgia but very interesting to discover and to read! Thank you to share! -
More work on the Waynesville Terminal! This layout has to be ready for a January exhibition in the Nord county. Well... I hope to have enough time to finish it. My son hasn't too many spare time because of school. I've made the black box with the lighting.

I like the styrene profile you have installed to hide the "big hole" on the "toy world" locomotive. 😋 -

Digital is fragile and need a lot of attention. I remember to see a layout in a shed for an exhibition during autumn days. On the morning there was too humidity to run the trains: the digital was out of order. My layout which was in analogic system with my KFS controller ran very well. So I can say digital needs more attention than analog ;) (no dilemma, just an experience). -
I've found a video about the Tokheim 850 gas pump. They were tall. There was too models of 850. The largest one is the brown, at left on the photo. The man says: the body is 4ft high so 1219 mm. In 1:48 > 25 mm. My models have 30 mm bodies! 5 mm too high. And certainly a too big diameter. I have to saw them 🥴 ... or to install more modern models at the good scale.

I suspect the pick-up too big too
-
Thank you for your interesting answers and the nice video!!! Yes, that's right: the figure is too small. > It's a 1:50 from Preiser. And the pick-up is 1:43. But looking to the photos, I'm not sure the pick-up is 1:43. Maybe bigger than the good size. This man is 38 mm high. So in 1:48 > 1m82 (tall man) in 1:43 > 1m63 (small man) A comparation with different sizes: at left, the man with a hat is 1:43. At right the shopkeeper (Phoenix figure) is 1:43.
