  1. Now that's one different bridge!! It will make a different cameo that's for sure. Where is the original?
  2. Grahame congrats on your S.E.C.R. building looks brilliant cant wait to see it in situ. I think I will have to try and raise my standards to keep with the excellent work on this thread!!
  3. Scoobrya the bridge is fine. My goods shed looks ok to me but on close inspection there are a lot of mistakes (glazing bars for one)but the more we do the better we get. So keep on trying
  4. Progress on the goods shed,I have done the doors for one side and managed to do the support trusses for the canopy. As the trusses are different lengths it took me a while to work how the roof pitch remained constant, till I realized the roof was a compound curve (i think). The roof fits and looks ok so i guess i did something right! Now i have to do the doors for the other side then give the inside a colour wash. I am not sure what to use to cover the platform in, maybe paving slabs( not modern type)any other ideas out there? I WON'T be using bricks!!!!
  5. Progress on goods shed one part now has a roof which is detachable to allow access to the interior. I have started on the doors some will be closed some open. There is a curved canopy over the unloading dock, I hope to complete them by the end of the week.
  6. Great photos Allan AGAIN lol but I do have a question or two. Do you ever put curtains in house windows or have I just missed seeing them? Number two question.... what thickness of card/paper do you use for slates and tiles? Steve
  7. Been busy today and have managed to build the basic shell of goods shed part two. I had to do this first to be able to work out the roof symmetry for the first building it will be quite big when its finished. It will hopefully make a center piece on the layout I have a pic of the plan view but it might be hard to see but I will post it any way. It may give some idea of the finished size. Steve
  8. A bit of progress on the goods shed. Brickwork now finished and the office has a door and windows. Just started cutting out the shell for the second half. A railway to put it on is the next task. I have been looking in Mr Rice's book on layout construction and think I may adopt Clun as a starting point but when is anybody's guess will post again later.
  9. Good to see you back. I hope all is well with you and brilliant modelling as always Steve
  10. Progress on the second side of the goods shed. I don't know whether to go for the other half of it!
  11. This gets better and better! When can we expect to see Mr Downes O.B.E. for services to modelling? Steve
  12. Sorry swampy got the names mixed...probably due to advancing years lol
  13. Hi Ruston am I right in thinking that there was a kit of a DH10 in 1:48 or 1:32 scale possibly by Aroura? I think they did a Platz and a few other WW1 aircraft. Great modelling skills shown here, a craftsman at work Steve
  14. So right Judge I have an unfinished 42xx I was scratch building for a friend then a ready to run one appeared....oh sorry I don't want that one I've just bought one!!! So its in the back of a cupboard now as I don't model G.W.R. and I would class any thing built by hand from raw materials as scratch built
  15. Allan have just caught up with this thread, saw the fireclay, pollifiller models. HOW DO YOU DO IT? Such superb work time after time and as for the castle ........ brilliant love it. I do have a question tho.... can you make a complete bog of something just to make us mortals feel better.......lol
  16. YES FIRST SIDE FINISHED!!!! Now to begin the next long side. The platform has been redone cos I did the first one back to front.the chimney is only temporary on the office. P.S. I'm still sane hahahaha........i think
  17. Thanks Allan I will get me a catalogue for the future
  18. Truly magnificent! Craftsmanship at its best. The standard of work here is an inspiration to improve my own humble efforts. Congratulations on a job well done. Steve
  19. Hi Allan, I will agree with you about using quality card and materials available I don't know about etched window frames though would you alter window sizes to suit the closest etch available or have them etched to suit? I have always tried to use plastic card with varying degrees of success. I do however avoid cornflake packets. I will have to see where I can get stuff on mail order that's not too expensive for a bloke with pre-stretched finances. Steve
  20. Thanks Allan, that looks like that is the way to go. Mind you looking at your superb workmanship I wonder if I should throw in the towel lol. To quote my grandfather "I will never be that good as long as I have a hole in me ****". Your standard and skills are an inspiration to us all. Steve
  21. Alant and Allan thanks for the info. I have tried to use heavy weight paper but the ridge tiles look to thin. I will give plastic angle a try. Thanks to you both for the nice comments Steve
  22. Very nice alant. Ho did you do the ridge tiles/copings? They look great
  23. More bricks laid on my goods shed. I have worked out it will take 7000ish for this half
