  1. Is there any possibility that yout iPad’s WiFi is not connected to the z21’s routers WiFi but has connected to a different WiFi network and so can’t talk to the Z21? I can produce a similar issue if I do that
  2. I have a Z21 rather than a Z21 and haven’t seen a problem like that. I’ve used both versions of the app on an ipad2, an iPad mini 4 and an iPhone 4s and have never had a problem with the throttle. I just created s loco, gave it the right number and that was it. I use 4 digit addresses.
  3. What address are you using for the loco?
  4. Mine has no issue with 90 degree R3 and R4 curves where there is a significant straight before and after the curve, i.e. a normal 'loop'. However what does cause it to derail the central coach is stretched curves such as R4 curve, ~200mm straight, R4 curve!
  5. Loosening the screws is not a total solution, it didn’t work for me. Besides the screws are not too tight. They have shanks and have been tightened up correctly. Now whether the shanks are too short is another question.
  6. After it had crashed a couple of times did you try re-booting the iPad (turn the iPad off and on). That can sometimes help (apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs) I’ve also been running on an IPad 2 as well as a 64bitiPad Mini and neither have crashed so far. I have had a few other problems that I have reported though.
  7. Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the old app. They added a fix for export very recently
  8. You can export from the old app to the new app by using the export by email option and just emailing it to yourself. You then open the email attachment and chose thee option to import into the new app.
  9. B&D Universal Capacitive Stylus Pen 2-in-1 Styli Touch Screen Pen with 20Pcs Replacement Rubber Tips for Apple iPad,iPhone,iPod,Tablet,Galaxy, LG&HTC (Black, 5.5-inch) Seems to work fine.
  10. After spending more time over the weekend I have finally got to grips with the layout editor :-) After originally hating it, I'm now happy with it. I bought myself a stylus (£7.99 from Amazon) and using it and a full-size iPad makes all the difference. The trick of holding a point with the stylus and rotating it using a finger from my other hand also makes a huge difference in rotating points Multiple tabs for the layout is a really useful feature, though there is a bug (that I have reported) which can cause tabs to duplicate. Hopefully the bug will be fixed in the next release.
  11. In the new Z21 app in App Settings there are options 'Emergency stop on incoming calls' and 'Emergency stop when the home button is pressed is pressed' I have both these set to 'Off' and the Z21 does not stop when the iPad screen turns off, this may be the solution to your first issue
  12. Can anybody suggest any CV 'Motor tweak' setting needed for best performance when using a Zimo MX622N decoder?
  13. My tightest curves are R4 and I'm happy to say mine copes with them at any speed without derailing. Flat out around a R4 curve does look a bit scary, but no derailment occurs. The problem I have is with inclines causing derailments. I have a 2 degree incline and as the coaches transit onto it on the decent they derail. This appears to be because one coach bogie is lifted off the track because the coupling to the next coach has almost no flexibility and is thus holding the coach up. [edit] I have now discovered that although it will cope with R4 curves, it won't cope with R4+ reverse curves, the middle coach always derails. It also won't cope with a 3 track crossover consisting of 4 Peco Streamline medium radius points.
  14. I am very impressed. I have been having all sorts of problems trying to produce any sort of decent looking layout using the editor. I can't even get decent looking cross-overs. Any chance you could re-publish your picture from the layout editor itself showing the grid lines to give an idea of how you managed it. Also any tips on using the layout editor would be much appreciated
  15. Received an email to say mine’s in the post, so should arrive Thursday tomorrow or Friday
  16. John, the new App exists in parallel with the old app so you can keep the old app and load the new app to look at it. You can also export everything from the old app into the new app (on IOS you can do this using e-mail). At the moment (in my opinion) the new colour used for the throttle is horrible and the track control is really difficult to use to build a layout for points control. Hopefully things will improve as they receive user feedback. Currently for operation I think I'll stick with the old app!
  17. Those “Free Roads” are more than paid for by car owners out of the Fuel duty and Vehicle Execise duty they pay. And that’s not counting the VAT they pay on fuel and the VAT on purchasing the car in the first place.
  18. I have been playing with the new app on IOS (iPad). Creating an sensible layout plan in the 'Control Station' seems extremely difficult! For example how do you easily rotate a point? It appears possible using a 2-finger twist but there is no accuracy using a 2-finger twist! (or at least not for someone like me who has large fingers). It is also very difficult to keep control of the point being moved without the screen suddenly scrolling. To me it seems like the 'Control Station' needs a lot more development work. I have been playing with the app to see if I should buy a Z21, the app certainly hasn't sold itself to me so far...
  19. If you have a Hornby Elite controller, you don't need to buy an eLink, just buy the RailMaster software because it is compatible with the Elite as well as the eLink. Hattons are currently selling the RailMaster software for £5 !! You download the software from Hornby's Website forum, you only need the purchased CD for the activation code. If you buy 2 copies of RailMaster you can run it on two PCs and slave one PC to the other assuming they are both on the same network. There is also an IOS and android app. The IOS app works reasonably well but I believe the android version doesn't work very well and is due an upgrade in the next few months.
  20. Does the class 08 have lights, if not then you don’t need any functions, only the motor drive. The stay alive capacitor supplied with the DCC concepts decoders is so small (in power) it won’t get you over any dead spots. In fact I’ve found the small stay alives supplied with the DCC Concepts decoders pretty much a waste of time
  21. I thought one or more 802 were already running in test and had been for a few months?
  22. Are you sure this arrangement will work long-term without burning out the signal’s circuit board? The Dapol instructions state a momentarily-on switch whereas wouldn’t this proposed arrangement be permanently-on, momentarily-off?
  23. Mine arrived today. Tension lock couplings removed and snowploughs installed, DCC chip installed and running-in has commenced. Seems both smooth and quite.
  24. So are any class 43s actually being decommissioned and scrapped or are they all being refurbished to power short-form HSTs with 4 x MK3 coaches which have been refurbished with power doors?
