  1. The instruction leaflet in my DCC ready Westminster shows the decoder in front of the motor and the socket by the side of the motor and not what I actually found. This side socket arrangement is identical to the 0-4-0 Pecketts (except that they have a 4 pin socket)
  2. Has anybody tried to fit a DCC decoder yet? And if so did they find the 6 pin socket and blanking plate heatshrinked together in the decoder slot instead of where the instruction diagram shows it should be? Pictures are of DCC ready Westminster as opened. Wiring is too short to move the 6 pin docket to its correct location
  3. You are absolutely sure the loco does have a DCC decoder fitted in it?
  4. App version 1.2.0 now available in the Apple App Store. Not sure which bugs it fixes but it has added a useful padlock symbol on the mimic panel which, when activated, locks the mimic panel in place and stops it from scrolling around and re-sizing.
  5. Z21 app V1.2.0 now available in the App Store
  6. Presumably other supplier’s small 6pin decoders will fit though... after all how many of us buy Hornby decoders anyway (except for TTS which I can’t imagine will be made for the Ruston)
  7. I am just in the final stage of my 2 month iTrain trial with my Z21, it's been quite a learning curve. I'm impressed and so will be placing an order for a licence early next week. I'm not a uTube user so the lack of videos is not an issue for me. The documentation is pretty comprehensive and the help one gets from the iTrain forum is second to none, both from the Developers and experienced users alike (thanks Iain)
  8. I'm still here too. The weather down in West Devon has been pretty good recently so I've not spent much modeling time, I've been out and about instead. What time I've had I've been trialing iTrain so most of my recent forum time has been on the iTrain support forum.
  9. I believe it was said that the Terrier took 9 months from drawings to completion (because the CADs have been previously completed but then put on the shelf).
  10. Drawing a mimic of your layout in the new app on a 7” or even a 10” screen is very fiddly until you buy a stylus and then it becomes much, much easier. You can buy a cheap one from Amazon, they only cost a few pounds.
  11. Though this is undoubtedly true, I suspect Hornby would like this loco to work on their own insulfrog points and it should be noted that the dead frogs on their express points and curved points are actually longer than the wheelbase of the Ruston so without the truck it would stall every time (the dead frogs are also longer than the Peckett’s wheelbase, but that’s a different story!)
  12. It fixes a bug with the ‘driving direction inverted’ option that I reported in the previous version. It also adds a vehicle feature called categories. Thats all I’ve found so far...
  13. Thanks Iain, I don’t suppose they gave any indication of when they will be releasing an updated version of the app with all the reported bugs fixed? Nick
  14. Has anybody loaded the new Z21 firmware from the Grerman language side of the website yet? And if so do you see any improvements? Given the state of the English language side of the new website I wonder if they are no longer interested in selling to / Supporting English speakers and are just going to concentrate on the German speaking market?
  15. In my opinion Zimo decoders implement ABC better than the Lenz decoders and work with both BM1 units and home made units.
  16. No sign of an update to the app either :-( Last update was in May and it still contains many reported bugs.
  17. Assuming you can find the space to fit one, then yes
  18. Could it be a decoder issue? Do all the affected models have the same DCC decoder?
  19. I run the new Z21 app on an iPad mini4 and have never had any performance issues. I also run the app on an old iPad 2 and occasionally it is a bit slow, but has never been too bad. I did do a full reset on the iPad 2 before starting to use it and the Z21 app is the only app installed on it.
  20. I have some DCC80s on my layout, work great, no problems with them and easy to wire up
  21. In my experience the small ‘stay-alive’ provided with the Zen decoders make no appreciable difference to stalling on insulated frogs.
  22. That’s what I felt when I first used it, but after persevering I now prefer it. Wish they’d fix the various annoying bugs though...
  23. Do you mean DCCConcepts Zen Nano? Zimo is an Austrian manufacturer of top notch DCC decoders
  24. Zimo’s documentation can look a bit daunting at first as there are so many things you can change if you want, but unless you want to play you only need to work with the normal CVs - Accelerator, Deceleration, CV29 etc and leave all the others at their default values. Since I started using Zimo decoders, I wouldn’t now use anything else.
