  1. I agree. The bogie brick wagon has always intrigued me for some reason. Also, I have always wanted the gas wagon (3 cylinders?) that was parked next to station platforms when carriage lights were gas. They appeared in the 0-gauge tinplate ranges back in the day (I have several).
  2. Now that Rapido has entered the Met space, I would love to see Rapido produce the iconic A and B classes built by Beyer Peacock. The 'A's were built from 1870 to John Fowler's specification, based on a machine supplied to a Spanish railway. The As and Bs were for underground use and hence had a condensing apparatus and no cab, just a spectacle plate. The 'B's were built to a similar design from 1879. Cabs were fitted after 1895. Originally, the locomotives were bright olive green lined in black and yellow. Chimneys were copper-capped. The locos were later painted red. What makes these locomotives suitable for production as an RTR model in 00 is that many were sold to or built for other railways, including the London and South Western, The London and North Western, The Great Western, the Midland, the Nidd Valley Railway, The South Eastern Railway and the Pelaw Main Colliery, plus several European Railways. A tender version was built in Australia and a model has been commissioned by a retailer in H0, which is the dominant scale for Australian-based models. Kits have been manufactured by Ks and by CDC models in various scales. I would like a L&SWR one please, plus a Brill Tramway or Nidd Valley one, all with cabs.
  3. So it's likely to drop out then. Mine do.
  4. I have just ordered some Bachmann NEM 362 pockets that fit into the NEM 363 receivers. I figure that Kadee short couplers might work here, so watch this space! But there is a French company that makes Kadee adapters for this. I just need to remember the name 🤪.
  5. One of my crew is short of a leg. He shall be known as 'Ahab', but where do I stow his whale?
  6. My NER version arrived (in Australia) this afternoon. It's lovely. I suspect that I will have enough to run brakevan specials (in a variety of liveries) once I get all those that I ordered 🙃🤓🤪
  7. Hello fellow, railway modellers. I have been rather out of it when it comes to modelling lately. It seems that I had more time when I was working than I have now in retirement. I'm not sure how that works, but I now don't have a wife, and live in a different state of Australia, one that didn't have a history as a place for the disposal of British convicts. My other obsession has for a long time been blues, folk and similar roots music. One of the best exponents of that genre (in the U.S. at least) was the late John Prine (Also Honorable Poet Laureaute of the State of Illinois), who introduced one of his performances saying "I got a divorce for Christmas". I bought myself an electric train, because I never had one. I nailed it to the dining room table... because I could". That is me these days. I have become a collector of toy electric trains, rather than a railway modeller. My interest in the London and South Western Railway (and the South Australian Railways) hasn't changed, but I need to do some more work other than spending too much pension money. I have supplemented this with references to the other old movie inspired by Arnold Ridley's Ghost Train, hence the references to Bugglekelly. This is Will Hayes' Oh, Mr Porter. With any luck and time/energy I shall post some of my 'collection' (rolling stock roster) and even further development of Fal Vale, should that happen when I awake from my somnolent state.
  8. I appreciate this discussion - I realised early on that 'NEM' might mean several different things. I have received two vans to date, and will have to find a way to fit Kadees. We are now back to cutting off and starting again. The old 'faithful ' #5 keeps on appearing. Technology is going backwards, just faster.
  9. I was getting a bit frustrated too, but Accurascale Support have now told me that their rather overwhelmed warehouse people hope to clear orders by Tuesday (presumably 30 May). I'll stop being a worrywort.
  10. My sets of each type are here (From Rails). Beautiful wagons full of character. But not only are they unsuitable for children under 14 years, they are unsuitable for fumble fingered old men (me). I use Kadee couplers, and the KR tension locks need a lot of force to remove. I spent a lot of time crawling around the floor to find a missing buffer dislodged in the process, and the triangular bulkhead braces fell out of several of the open sided wagons. I finished up cutting off the ends of the tension lock NEM 362 fishtails to get them out without breaking something in the removal - there are a lot of fragile bits.
  11. Fal Vale has been in remission for a very long time. I have become a 'collector of toy trains rather than a railway modeller of late. I am now facing a barrage of pre-orders emerging from the shadows - these go back in one case nearly a decade 🤪. We have in this parish a competition as to he who has the most toys when he dies wins. I do have some nice ones - a small fleet of narrow gauge items that actually have a track to run on. I still need to build a station or yard to justify the junction. I also have a modest fleet of Buggleskelly-themed wagons. The plan is that after Easter I will make the time to do some modelling. Not before time I hear you cry. Been diverted into the garden, but I still need to oil the woodwork.
  12. Lovely words 'landing shortly'. My bank balance may not agree, given that it is not the only pre-order on my books 🤪.
  13. I just bought one - too good to miss. My railway is supposed to be in the South West, but who cares?
  14. I have tried to be sympathetic, but I gave in yesterday and asked the question of Light Railway Stores. Recent orders from the UK have taken up to seven weeks to get to Australia, so it is hard to tell where a delay is from.
  15. I'm rather hoping that a high-end manufacturer might try their hand at the Beyer Peacock Metropolitan A/B class. This design was eventually very widespread, with examples used by the Metropolitan Railway, the District Railway, the London and South Western Railway , the London and North Western Railway, the Midland Railway, the Mersey Railway, Pelaw Main Colliery, West Somerset Mineral Railway, the Nidd Valley Railway and in Europe. There was a tender version used in Australia, but al model of this is coming in H0, which is the preferred scale here.
  16. Mine went back to Rapido repairs because of a DCC problem. It came back non-operational, It just sits in a display case now. I'm not sure if I have the full set of detail parts.
  17. My bad. 🙄 This was from the original order confirmation, so was an early estimate of the timing. I did drop them a line but realised my mistake in the meantime. They will be delivered as soon as they are in stock 😀.
  18. I checked the Accurascale Web site and mine are not due for dispatch until September. Can this be right?
  19. I would like to adda few more vehicles to my L&MR fleet; however, Hornby's insistence on train packs makes that difficult. I would like a mail coach, perhaps a second class coach and certainly the Queen Adelaide coach. I do not want any more Rocket locomotives, nor First and Third class coaches. Furthermore, the rubbish plastic couplers have to go. How about some magnetic chain couplers and NEM pockets Hornby?
  20. I would very much like the Conflat P wagons to be made in 00 (please)
  21. Hi folks, You may have noticed, or perhaps you haven't, that these pages have been very quiet lately. This is a reflection of a serious lack of action on Fal Vale/ Buggleskelly. I have been suffering from a series of technological issues and failures, not only with the layout. These, some bureaucratic impositions and several underlying conditions have impacted my motivation. Fortunately, I have the support of friends and professional help that should allow me to get back to it. Despite the wonderful help from St Enodoc to find the source of my electrical problems (I am very grateful mate), I just added more issues in my wiring of another section. My cleaning lady (who decided that I am so hopeless that she started to move to more of a housekeeper) is now a friend, and has this habit of asking 'have you fixed the wiring yet?' OK, this has become more of a 'Dear Abbie' column. Sorry. However, I am gradually getting back to it, even if it is only through some retail therapy. A few old orders have started to appear. The order for the 00 Works Adams Jubilee was on the way, but despite the wonderful help from 00 works (Rebecca Bruce) has only got as far as the Robertsbridge Post Office, where it was posted. Likewise some 009 rolling stock and sundry items from Kernow got to being scanned at Royal Mail Langley and after a full month has only just got on a flight. Again, Greg from Kernow has been very helpful, as usual. I managed to lose my focus on the LSWR with one rush of blood purchase. This eventually arrived from Locomotion. It is the model of the North Eastern Railway ES1 electric locomotive. Just two were built to move freight through a tunnel down to the Newcastle wharves. They had third rail pickups and small pantograph to pick up power in the yards. Steam power would fill the tunnel with smoke and set the straw packing used in open wagons alight, so trains would emerge on fire. Newcastle was an important city in my professional development in connection with the metro. Here are a few miscellaneous pics, without explanation, just to show I am still here: They may be repeats! Please do not expect much in the blog just yet. Once something happens with the railway I shall resume, Cheers, Kym.
  22. Another Rule # 1 addition: another Buggleskelly fleet wagon from the Will Hay Appreciation Society. A couple of signals have arrived as well: This is the platform home starter for the Buggleskelly yard. An SR Home and Distant have also arrived for the main line. These are all by Dapol.
