I’d love you guys to take on the class 153 doing a super detailed version with all those rivets :D

Then with a chance of Local Lines livery as they seem to be doing/choosing to do harder liveries such as the DRS Fade livery on the Class 37s it would make for a very nice model.

Anyway back on topic to the JSAs they do look very nice indeed especially the VTG open coil carriers and the VTG hooded wagons but i have to limit what items i get as i only got limited amount of room and haven't got a layout yet.

your not buying a model, your making a donation to the NHS and getting a locomotive for your gratitude.

I doubt Hornby is making anything on this... remember there’s 20% VAT off the £75, and £40 is to the NHS, plus p&p to you..

Maybe another manufacturer might offer a detailed model on commercial terms, but I think it not appropriate to undercut or compete on this model until after the charity benefits have been realised.

This  isn’t about model railway competition or superdetailed models, its about having an oppourtunity to say you’ve contributed to seeing an end result on something much bigger than our hobby, and on this basis Hornby is the channel we can use to take part.

if Tom Jones made a cover of You’ll never walk alone, you wouldn’t refund Captain Toms cover version.. same applies here.

We donated £100 to Captain Toms appeal, Ive also bought this model, it’ll be my only Hornby 66, Ive no other interest in Hornby 66’s.  and if another model was made next year by someone else I’d maybe consider it too. But this model gives me chance to say I’ve contributed, in a way that relates to my hobby,  it’ll join other “significant memory” locomotives in my collection, which my daughter gets to hear a story about, and may be her children someday, and of course, its a token to show your contribution... value/quality/price are irrelevant.

You have hit the nail on the head with this post.  It is really well written and i agree with what you have put within it @adb968008

They already have done with the 66 so it wouldn't surprise me!

It wouldn't surprise me neither if Hornby did produce 800025 but i think it would be a slower seller than the Class 66 has been.

  4. A livery for Dapol to potentially produce/consider in the future now that there is a real life Class 59 carrying it.

I see that there are images starting to appear on the web of the newly painted G&W Freightliner 59206

These are NOT my photos but i found on Flickr and they have been made Public

59206 fresh from the paint shop Toton T.M.D. - Acton approaches Wellingborough 30.04.2020

And another one of 59206 in between 59204 & 59205:

    Freightliner 59204 + 59206 + 59205

    More from Simon!

STOP PRESS Your readers have blown the 1000 so as to avoid disappointment and to support the NHS we have increased them to 1500. This means that the railway modellers and your readers will be donating £60k. I have never known such kindness and support.

I wonder if Hornby will increase the total amount of models being make upto to 2020 which would be rather apt for the model seeing that the real version came out this year and what it is representing.

    Ok, thank you!!

That was more than one of you but what you have done is just take the prize draw part of the fundraiser to a total just over £7,000! I'll do all the proper thank yous tomorrow but suffice to say I've been staggered by the generosity.

This is your collective finest moment on RMweb.

The funny thing is i was in a stage of donating when your previous post appeared i am glad it has helped you go over the £7000 mark for the prize draw fundraiser.

Very cheeky I know considering everyone's generosity over the last few days but I'd like to see if I could squeeze a tenner or so out of someone who hasn't already taken part please? You'll realise why tomorrow once I've double checked all the figures. ;)

That should help i donated a few minutes ago meant to do it earlier.

    Edit:

When selecting the coaches for my XC set i have just noticed the TGS is not shown for the Cross Country set. It is showing for the GWR set though.

@43055 Looking at the list of products that are incoming from Hornby on the Rails of Sheffield list it appears that:

    1. Only 7 of the 8 GWRs ones are incoming in the next two weeks. The one that's missing is a TGS.
    2. And only 12 of the 18 CrossCountry ones are incoming in the next two weeks. The ones that are missing include a TSD, 2xTS, a TCC & 2xTGS.

The differences are between what is on the Rails of Sheffield List and the list of coaches from the MK3 SD Announcement.

I think the non sliders have been about for a week or two now? I'm sure I saw an email saying they were in stock from somebody? Might be wrong though

Rails stated on the 7th March that 6 of the Non Sliders had arrived and Kernow's Newsletter on the 6th March said they were arriving that day so the slam door versions have been out for nearly a month.

Rarher confusingly, the latest Hornby newsletter received now advertises the arrival of the earlier, non sliding door version Mk3 in the R47XX range in GWR green. No mention yet of the late 48xX/49XX which the Rails newsletter announced yesterday. These are the ones I imagine most of us will be in the market for and not the ones in the current newsletter.

    So caution here I think.

It does quote on Hornby's page from the This Month at Hornby newsletter that the slam doors GWR Coaches became available during March.

The information shared from Rails's of Sheffield about the Sliding door Mk3s was given in April.

They have said they are doing 003, there is a thing on their news page from when they went and recorded it.

I'd be happy with an AI /0 too!

I did see that they are doing 003 when they annouced the sound fitted versions in a future batch hopefully be able to get one when they do.

I must admit I am tempted by one of these for Sheep Dip............but I have three already...Can you have too many Pecketts ?

    Rob.

Nope you can never have too many Pecketts. I wasn't going to get any Pecketts when announced as i have several small locomotives but since then I now own two pecketts which may yet increase depending on what's released.

Damn it! I didn't even know it was the 1st! The days have rolled into one continuous kept away from the pub hell.

I would have loved for this to have been real, with Accurascale providing a cracking 92 in DB and GBRf, Revolution/Kernow with Cargowagons, Bachmann with Multifrets and Dapol's Silver Bullets you really could have made a cracking Dollands Moor layout! Well that's made the day worse knowing it was an April Fools.

@159220 You not the only one to be fooled today as i took too long to work out that the Irish Deltic from Accurascale wasn't real.

I reckon part of the fault is that we - generally - UK modellers are loco-centric

Look at those buying 4-6 of the 66s. I bet they wouldn't buy 4-6 DMUs - even if they were £160

Also i think that you can get away more with locomotives as they tend to travel further and go to different areas in real life than DMUs do. Also the DMUs usually stick to certain routes operated by the franchise that they have been leased to and don't tend to go to other regions unless they are hired in by another franchise or going to a place to be refurbished or for maintenance.

At the moment none of the release are running in the colours of release.

This is my predictions in that Dapol will make up for it in the next release with possible a 59/0 in Aggregates Industries, 59003 in GBRF and possibly 59206 or another in Freightliner G&W.

We will have to wait and see what Dapol will do after Batch 1 but they have still got a few other liveries to cover.

  16. Well done @Accurascale Fran for the Aprils fool joke. This is one that did get me, it wasn't until i seen the headcode, price and limited edition number at the end although when reading I did think that it was using a wrong number as other Deltics were in the D9 range. It took a lot longer than it should have to realise what day it was today.

Just hope they finally manage to crack the FGW ‘local lines’ livery - just as Realtrack models have on their 143’s....!

I don't work for Bachmann but i overheard once in a model shop that it doesn't sound like the Local Lines element of the livery is the problem it is the graduation of the blue background livery. This would probably affect both the local lines versions of the Class 150 & 158.

The Realtrack Class 143 is also wrong in the background livery as it appears to be in just a single blue livery but because of the nature of the units it doesn't appear that obvious compared to other Local Lines DMU's where you would notice the livery error more.

I’ve only looked at diesel and electric locos but immediately noticed two loco are missing, 32-027C D8035 in BR Green no yellow panel and 32-046 Class 20 20201 in BR Blue with dominoes and ED westie. Have they been dropped or just omitted?

Perhaps the Class 20's have been omitted because they have already got enough orders from retailers that cover the production run of them a similar thing happened with the Colas 70 that disappeared from the catalogue but wasn't released/produced when the catalogue came out.

In 1996 the local St Blazey management arranged to deliver a years supply of coal to a local Cornish Coal Merchant when he stocked up during the Summer.

So in July a number of trains were booked from Swansea to Falmouth Docks for transshipment to lorry for the final 8 miles to Carnkie.

Each portion left St Blazey or Burngullow to arrive onto the branch after the last train (which in those days was around 2100.

So night after night I trekked out to Coombe St Stephen Viaduct hoping that the Single line was snarled up with late running trains and that the train would appear before the sun went down.

Managed on the last night it ran.(Wont mention the other time when it ran early and still strolling across the fields).

Hi @mevaman1 or someone that could help with the following questions.

    • Does anybody know what wagon numbers did celtic energy used for this service?  I see that in one of the photos on the second mevaman1 post one wagon number was 704 and another with something 38.

    Also

    • Did they used the same wagons or changed every time this service was runned?

    Thanks for your help,

    Samuel.

Now as people love HSTs & Class 800 & Bachmann are bring out the 150/158/166 in Great Western then is seemed obvious to us that the GWR Green should be popular.  so we will have:

    143-603  GWR Green

    143-617  GWR Green

    143-620  GWR Green

143-612  First Great Western 'Local Lines'

143-621  First Great Western 'Local Lines'

    Hope your Happy.

    Hi Charlie,

Thanks for saying what versions you are doing hopefully i will get one of each livery dependant on other things when these are released but i will definitely get 143612 Local Lines version as it visited Penzance in this livery. Just need to work out which one to get in GWR Green livery as i have seen 3 different units mostly 143621in real life but haven't seen the ones your doing in real life.

    Thanks,

    Samuel.
