Anybody hoping for more steam announcements is just being greedy. There is plenty of that in the 2018 catalogue. It would be nice if us diesel/electric modellers got something special for a change.

Could somebody who has the May magazine let me know what will be in next months on the next issue page? I am taking out a subscription but would like an idea if possible of what will be in the June issue so I know whether to start with that one. Thanks.

I would argue not in this instance. All DPD shipments include full tracking and therefore it is very unlikely a parcel goes missing as it can almost always be located. Therefore Hattons just need to recall the parcel and send out a new one.

Royal Mail class an item as lost after 10 days after the expected delivery date (or 5 days for special delivery) so Hattons requiring 20 days for an item with full tracking seems a bit ridiculous.

I placed an order with Hattons recently and they shipped it with DPD. DPD then stated they couldn't find my address day after day despite me taking time off work to make sure I could be in all day. Rang up Hattons and explained the situation and they agreed to recall the parcel and ship a replacement out using an alternative courier which found my address no problem. I felt this was a satisfactory solution. I may also add that contacting DPD is an absolute nightmare as they don't have a telephone number for their depots/drivers so it is up to Hattons to get in contact with them.

I know right. I was looking at an old copy of BRM from 2013 this afternoon and the estimated price of the 158 when it was announced was £129.99. Now it's set at double that price at £259.99 and will probably go up even further before it's released. The cynic in me thinks they do it on purpose.

Massive disappointment. The Class 158 is now due July 19 at the earliest. Unbelievable. 7 years!!!

How did you manage to get a big discount when ordering direct from Hornby?

Wish they had acquired some EMT/Grand Central/Cross Country/GNER HST sets as all of these are impossible to find in new condition now. Seem to have almost every other obsolete general release except these.

That's not what they told me when I rang them up last year. They said everything is tested the moment they receive it from the supplier.

Unlikely to be from Olivia's as they display and test all their stock and Hattons clearly states: 'None of the items being re-listed have been used in any way and are as-new from the factory'.

When fitting one of my HST power cars with a DCC chip one of the wires to the headlights came loose. I do not have a soldering iron so can anyone suggest an alternative solution to reattach it please? I have currently blu-tacked it in place as shown in the picture below but am looking for a more permanent solution.

My Hornby one kept on cutting out too. Try the Gaugemaster combi controller. Far superior and you can pick one up for about £30-35.

I have fitted my class 66 with a TTS sound chip but now seem to be unable to switch on the cab lights as they are function 1 which clashes with the engine startup sound. Any ideas on how to rectify this? Sorry if it's a basic question. I am very new to DCC/DCC sound.

Agreed. At first I thought my loco had a faulty headlight which was why only one was on. Turns out all the Bachmann 66s are like that. Both rear lights (red) are on though.
