  1. Further 802 info : 802003 and 005 due to start from LA 006 and 007 from North Pole 17 aug should see one at Long Rock for clearence and training before running to EX for low key launch event before finishing day at LA As all 6 5car sets will be used 802101 to act as spare with 802001 and 002 as last resort up to 29 aug when next 2 sets accepted into traffic.
  2. The first refurbished buffet/lounge goes into the Night Riviera set for Monday night's up service and the first IET in normal service in Cornwall should be on 20 august.
  3. Anybody using the 45mm wheel set have a verdict on these locos ?
  4. I would also say, the poor weather earlier in the year coincided with the first brood of caterpillars thus affecting number of adults now.
  5. Most Buddies appear to be over down here already do have missed the emergence of the hibernating adults who normally stock up on them for the winter. I normally give mine a February Prime so a later flowering to coincide for them. 1st week of flowering has 4 regular Torts so far.
  6. Not quite on topic but I do like a good brake can ride ! It's the open air and views that you get but as lines get larger, they seem to run less often. Yes I know capacity is an issue but it makes a welcome change. The GWR compartment stock on the South Devon is extremely comfortable !
  7. With all this prolonged hot sunshine, what's the verdict so far on Clouded Yellow, Red Admiral, and Painted Lady numbers ? Everyone's comparing things to 76 and then i saw swarms of each but my sightings have been average numbers so far.
  8. Going back a couple of pages, the first Nissan Bluebirds to come out of Sunderland were D plate. They also had a beige dash rather than that standard blue or black and the standard entertaiment system was Blaupunt rather than Clarion. I worked for a main dealer at the time. Would have one as a 3rd car now.... !
  9. Green - Veined White and Large White. valarian still being swamped with Silver Y moths every night but no Hummingbird Hawkmoths yet.
  10. Kernow 35 years ago today. Night Riviera name reintroduced for the sleeper and the Mk3 SLEP was introduced onto the route. 47558 was one of the locos.
  11. No Marbled Whites this far sw. Not sutable for other species either due to wind/moisture effects. Coastal living doesn't suit all ! Orange Tips in single numbers, no larger Fritillaries and have not seen a Brimstone for over five years ! Brought up next to the MR Bristol - Bath line. When that closed, it was a goldmine.
  12. Omg. So jealous. My childhood shots but now living where I do, an impossibility !
  13. Tonight's down sleep is 57 + 10 if anybody wants to sound record it up Dainton ! First easy access sleeper and first refurbished lounge In consist for exam work at PZ. 10601/10217.
  14. Used to carry heavy gear between OC/RDG and PZ !
  15. Tonights up Night Riviera will include BG 6348 due to lack of brake coaches+ linen/bike space. TNT 602/3.
  16. Perhaps an omen of things to come, lots of Silver Y on the Valarian in the garden tonight.... ! First Red Admirals today too at Trelissack.
  17. Had anybody seen the "expected influx" of Rosey Coloured Starlings yet as per various sources ?
  18. Back when I was driving, our contract vehicles had to have different signage, ie school bus along with first aid kit and contract sheet. Different to stage carriage duties. Also, some councils set an age limit to vehicles used for their duties. For instance, South Glous is 10 years but Cornwall still allow Mounts Bay to run late 90s Van Hools..... .
  19. First Painted Lady of the year seen in work today. Duly added to the migrant watch map on the British Butterfly Conservation website !
  20. Saw my first Silver Y Wednesday in the garden. When younger, would only see them in august but now pretty regular from late may both night and day.
  21. He should have a national spot !
  22. Nice to see interior shots, so often forgotten about but rekindles so many memories.
  23. The forecast here in Cornwall is so localised that the forecast for the next hour here means looking upwards......!
