Very nicely painted. I especially like the buttons on the moustacheless porter's waistcoat and the bus driver's beard.
It's interesting that the modelu ones don't need priming with acrylics.

Very nice build and a great paint job. The compartment detail is good on these coaches.

That should make a very impressive model. Looking forward to seeing more updates.

Very impressive modelling, Mikkel ( as usual). I would never have thought of using magnets, really good idea.

I was building the society corsair kit, but struggled with soldering up the splashers (and put it to one side). Some type of former would have been useful.
The big advantage of a 3d printed splasher is you don't have to worry about the wheels shorting the body, but I agree that brass looks better.

I've been catching up on your blog the past week or so. I really like the attention to detail and use of different materials. Some excellent modelling here, I'm enjoying reading this.

Fantastic modelling, Mikkel. Really like the line up at the end.

Excellent piece of scratchbuilding, the firebox must have been so fiddly to do.

It looks excellent in the final photo. Have you found out why the varnish went like that?

Found your blog a few days ago and am reading through. I like the weathering and ballasting, it looks very effective.

You've done fantastic work on the sides, they look great.

Another fantastic Finkerbury tale with some wonderful photography. Really like the wikipedia page images.

Looks like a good start, Mikkel, and I like the way the layouts could line up for a modular temporary layout. The traverser idea reminds me a bit of a cliff lift, though the wrong way round.

I nearly missed this, I obviously haven't set up the activity thing as well as I thought I had. Great story, Mikkel, with a fantastic cliff hanger at the end. Seeing Finkerbury lurking in the background in the photos gave me a smile and a laugh. Can't wait to see the next part.

One thing that keeps putting me off buying a 3d printer ( and a silhouette for that matter ) is the amount of time it needs to learn something new, set it up, learn slicing etc. But with shapeways latest price increase I'm seriously tempted to go for it.
I realise it's extra gluing and not sure what glue would be needed, but just wondering how a silhouette overlay on top of a bodyshell would work.

Excellent stuff, Mikkel. Good to see all the horse drawn carts together, they're very impressive, as is all the painting.
I have to admit I saw Northroader's post on reusing takeaway containers and I've hoarded a few since. Our local bargain shop sells them as well, 3 or 5 for £1, but you have to cook your own tea if you go down that route!

Fantastic photography as well as the painting, modelling and story telling.
I don't suppose Mr Finkerbury has an 1880 working timetable amongst his files does he?

Good to see the layouts again and good that so much of them remains. The modular sounds interesting, look forward to seeing that.

Hello Mike
I keep saying I'll sell some of my unused engines and carriages to fund a 3d printer but have yet to get round to it, I keep waiting for them to get cheaper and improved quality. I'm interested in how the quality compares to shapeways wsf material (can't remember what they call it now), after the set up and slicing have been sorted out.
I use blender for 3d cad and learnt it using JCL's excellent tutorial thread in this site, I haven't used Fusion360, but I imagine the principles are the same with every package just a different interface, keys etc.
best of luck

Fantastic modelling. The little differences really do add up to a great effect in the final photo.

An excellent post, Mikkel. I have to admit I knew very little about the strikes and the army's involvement, it's a very interesting part of history.
