  1. An unhinged Hippo with a Blunderbus. Run.
  2. You could be onto something there......His & Hers Apartments, with an interconnecting door. iD @iL Dottore could then have the Kitchen of his dreams........ ION..... Fancy ballasting this? Or cleaning the track? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1wx31x1yljo
  3. Would a Bear need a Licence for one of those? Just askin' for a friend......
  4. Sounds to this Bear that a different Apartment is required.
  5. Bear here..... Got some more Beary Will stuff done - it looks like three of the five documents I've been preparing are complete, so that's a Tick. It's one of those jobs where you could keep "fine tuning" until Doomsday - at some point you just have to say "right, that'll do". Post din dins meant Harry the Honda time; the zorsts are now refitted along with the shiny new silencers - and without the use of any naughty words either, so that's a Big Tick. I'm sure that just running it with open downpipes and no silencers would be more fun though. BG
  6. I've not seen any arguing whatsoever, only sensible discussion; sure, there are different opinions but isn't that what makes it interesting? I suspect a Taser would've increased the risk to the Officer considerably - as well as to the general public if she'd been shot in the process. I suspect fellow ER'ers won't be surprised that Bear is quite happy that, giving what the shooter did (killed six people - with another two in ITU) I'm quite happy that he was stopped in such a way. That was lucky. edit: Oh, hang on.....maybe not..... When Bear was in Kuwait the local Police came into the Hotel Restaurant as they'd heard some big noise Footie Team were staying there and they were hoping to get their Autographs and some selfies. However, the member of Hotel Staff at the entrance desk to the Restaurant said no, you can't come in carrying those guns. So what did they do? Yep, left the Guns on the desk and went selfie hunting...... That's a common one on vacuum cleaners as well.
  7. Google suggests the range of a Taser x2 is 25ft with a two shot capability (others are 21ft & single shot). Not sure I'd want to be that close to someone holding a gun, or multiple scrotes. A nutcase Student with a gun perhaps?
  8. Bear has visited numerous countries - most, if not all outside the UK featured Plod carrying guns. Did it phase me? Not one bit - it meant I respected them more (something that's sadly long-gone in the UK). Did it worry me? Nope - I wasn't doing anything wrong. It's very difficult to engage with the Plod in the UK in any way now - they're always in Cars; you might get to see PCSO's on the beat in town though. As for the criminal element tooling up - many already are, along with schoolkids (knives) in some areas. About the only Country I would feel uneasy around armed Plod would be the USA - far too trigger happy; in fairness in many areas they probably have to be in order to stay alive. I would send it in too - but after a fair few weeks (especially if it was on a regular route of mine) just in case they also have a Cam; they could look up my details/registration etc. and might just get 'umpy enough to try and get back at me. By waiting a few weeks it's much more likely the data will be deleted/over-written.
  9. A few brum brums at the Coal Drops Yard yesterday:
  10. Did you notice that your favourite ones always seem to be the more expensive? Ask Bear how he knows.... Along with: "I've forgotten something? Do I look Bovvered?" I must be strong..... Bear has scoffed things "somewhat past" their BB dates numerous times - including well over a year (never noticed any drop in quality either); it's the UB Dates that you need to be really careful of.
  11. Or rescue a Bear from a Charity Shop instead; I was most dismayed to see that a rather nice Vintage Bear came away from the coal Drops yesterday without being adopted - and only a tenner as well (reduced to a fiver as the event progressed and sales were slow). He must be really sad....😢
  12. Plus Police/Law Enforcement - it's unfair to expect them to go up against the baddies with guns. Bear checked his a few weeks back and yes, the CC had expired and had to be updated. I'd guess that thefts of farm machinery is a biggie. Is that major? Well yes, if it's an expensive Tractor etc. But they're nasty scary bitey stingy things.....😱
  13. Bear here..... A long snooze. Good. No piddlin' in the Pool for Bear today - I decided after yesterday's antics that an 0430 start wasn't a favourable idea so it's been postponed until another day. I'm keen to crack on with work on Harry but it's been piddlin' down over Bear Towers overnight so the back garden isn't very inviting as yet - some sun is predicted during the day so I'm hoping it'll dry off soon enough. Until then - more work on the documentation to go with the Beary Will - it's dangerously close to being finished now, just a bit of fine-tuning and checking really. BG
  14. That's it - flog guns so people can blast harmless cuddly bunnies yet protect the killer animals with laws. Weird. This is interesting: https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/business/how-switzerland-combines-a-passion-for-guns-with-safety/49115108 - which suggests to me that much of it isn't due to the availability of Guns but all about what's between a person's lug 'oles. Much of the problem in the US seems to be this "Right to bear Arms" in the Constitution(?), which the pro-Gun Lobby are somewhat keen to bring up at a moment's notice. OK, so make it law that the only guns that can be made and sold in the US (apart from those for law enforcement etc.) have a very limited power and a very small magazine (1 or 2?) - and don't go announcing that'll be the Law from 2027 or whatever, cos' that'll simply mean everyone will go rushing out to buy one before then; it really does need to be an "overnight" introduction. It'll at least be a start; how you deal with those already out there is a much bigger problem though - but at least you'll stop that problem from growing.
  15. Bear here..... Off to Kings X this afternoon to collect the unsold Vintage Charity Stuff from the event at Coal Drops Yard; we had to wait 90 minutes before we were allowed in (it seems elf n' sayftee) have a "thing" about Vans & The Public not mixing....) before we could start loading. We also discovered we couldn't load from the same place we unloaded from yesterday (E & S again 😒) but had to 'ump everything a couple of hundred yards - after taking the 6ft roller cages up in a public lift first.... Oh yes, and the two rails full of clothing would've been too long to go in the lift - so they had to be 'umped up two flights of stairs. Double Poo. Has it all been worth it? Well gronkits have been made, but nothing like previous years it seems - the weather has been pretty carp all weekend (at least it was sunny this afternoon) so that didn't do any favours. Oh well. The good news is the weather will apparently be reasonable over Bear Towers tomorrow, so with any luck I should get the exhaust system refitted to Harry the Honda; after that all I'll need to do is fit the new battery & fuel tank, bung some motion lotion in then see if Harry wants to start after being in hibernation for over 20 years..... Bear gone.
  16. More recently than that. Allegedly.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-68831061
  17. Bear here..... Up at Disgustinglylateo'clock this morning (0725) - bearing in mind I climbed The Little Wooden Hill at half nine last night that's quite a snooze, despite being disturbed by that little b1tch the Wee Wee Fairy twice 😒. Now fully wallowed and Beary Pit made, so Bear's on a roll; I *may* not be dressed and de-fuzzed yet though, so that'll be the next mission methinks. ION....... 69** YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........................😁 (**That's Kg, of course - though post brekkies so more like a true 68.5-ish). Happy Bear. BG
  18. Careful - that's getting dangerously close to be able to do the washing up again.
  19. Oh yes - Pole Position with @The Q I'd say. Would Bear be bovvered?
  20. Not sure if it still is but this was a common problem in Hospitals - apparently the fussy ones mix it with orange juice to improve the taste. One of Bear's (from 1986 until I banged out of the Great Empire): - An Enertec ME4115 Airborne Tape Recorder; £100K in 1985 (and we had two). The fastest speed was 120 inches per second and the 1" Magnetic Tapes cost £200 for a box of five; I'd get thru' a tape every 30 minutes. I had to get a new set of tape heads installed around 2005(?); I tried not to larf as I told the Project Manager it was gonna cost him £50K out of his budget, and no, there really was no other option. It went in the skip in 2016. Bear did Lynx Flight Trials during a really hot July/Aug in 1997 (or was it in the 2000's?); the Test Pilot declared that even though it was well over 30C the Sea Temp in the Bristol Channel was "rather cold" and we were all to wear immersion suits (I would've anyway). Whilst Bear was left hanging around in the Pilot's Office for what seemed like hours, waiting for the Driver to "do what he does" before going for the flight, the Crew Chief took one look at me and asked: "Sweaty B0llox?" Silly question, really.
  21. I'd empty my Loft - if I had a Garage to put the stuff in (which would kinda defeat the object really); it does need some very difficult decisions made sometime soon-ish though. The first Great Cull will be in the Shed though, just as soon as Harry is sold.
  22. They're by far the very worst ones - you never, ever use them but you can't bear the thought of parting with them. Ask a Bear how he knows.....
  23. Is external insulation practical? Or don't insulate the pillar to the same degree as the rest of the room (insulated plasterboard maybe?)
