  1. Bear here.... Well that was a productive morning; Harry the Honda's brakes have "been done" - I'm rather pleased (and some) with the condition of the Pistons in the Brake Calipers (these are 40 years old): Definitely a Large Tick awarded. The next job was to sort that blocked drain 😡 - Bear's very best James Herriot techniques were called upon as I shoved my Paw down deep holes; the blockage was due to an abundance of the gritty stuff off the surface of the roof tiles that sat like sludge down the drain - I've a feeling there's still more down the pipe as well but I've done my best to clear as much as possible and also used a drain clearing gadget and a hose to shift as much as possible. After that I tipped four 25L buckets of water down the drain - the sudden whoosh of water helps to clear the cr@p out; it seems to drain away pretty well now but I've a sneaky feeling that it may be a PITA in the future - it was installed in 1995 as a part of the Conservatory build and this is the first time I've had trouble with it. After that it was din dins time - and Bear got all creative and cooked my favourite Pasta dish (all' Amatriciana); I suspect it wouldn't have earned an @iL Dottore Spoon Award - maybe a Teaspoon Award on a good day perhaps? It tasted pretty good to This Bear in any event. I'm just waiting for Bear's "scruffies", the swim stuff plus last week's Warehouse Strides & Polo Shirt to finish being washed before I go for a wander down the Post Office. Bear gone.
  2. Bit of chain and a padlock when no-one's looking.....
  3. Does this mean that SWMBO now has access to all your ER posts?
  4. Bear here..... Up at sillyo'clock (0430) for a piddle in the pool; the plan was to take the pair of unwanted strides to the post office on the way back to Bear Towers - until I realised I'd be 40 minutes too early. Poo. Next mission is to make the Bear Pit then do a bit of work on Harry the Honda - first task** is to take a look at the brake calipers and make sure all is well/grease the slidey bits. **Weather permitting - the Met. Website is saying there's only a 10% chance of rain all day, yet Alexa says different.....fortunately the brakes tend to be at the same place as the wheels - and that's the front & back of Harry; that means I can just uncover that bit of Harry and quickly re-cover if I need to. Time to wriggle..... Bear gone.
  5. @PupCam There's also this one if you fancy a bid: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355652743423?epid=691148059&itmmeta=01HW2E218W953ZF45VRVVYRRAX&hash=item52ce8e30ff:g:IzwAAOSwJc9mJDOf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4CEPEFaUpGQtPSlsHWFxkDUim--Ze6mJ4k72bTi1mb2Pz1kZhtGNw4axkCxOWKYrDHUoFFMCNsaTEA%2Bs8SV47vexZALjIrkAaZW%2BMkQroA%2BKJBRNY9IJCL2x8KAqe4SeOphsE87Xt2FHvcglYWqYEwbOCwRNxdrYchZs4tlnhKD4CwGhWPhUXcCzM3%2FtY0Do2BJM2sWqKUV0Lot%2FRZsrLD5Y9M6yTjaQe1jFP5x3OFHzu37jFuF2UXhXBdO%2Bw6zBt3IsU8X09UQ34eQSQi0X0vS7Iumtc76j0oeSlcwpcGda|tkp%3ABk9SR8iUiM7gYw
  6. I'm sure Dr. Beverley can make you feel a lot better and put a big smile on your face......😉
  7. One reason may be to reduce the accuracy of any incoming GPS guided weapons Not this Bear, that's for sure.....
  8. I'll have you know that us Bears are much, much scarier than that - we're just better at hiding the bodies.....
  9. OK, so the Plod could possibly have handled it better, but in this Bear's Book the Guy was deliberately out to provoke a reaction/cause trouble. It's akin to someone wearing a Chelsea FC Shirt walking thru' a huge crowd of Millwall Supporters.....you just don't do it (not if you want to live, anyway) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd130lp70x5o
  10. So it's ok for someone to Contract the Woo Flu despite being married to & sharing a house with someone who's got a depressed immune system** ?? That's just plain F. Nutz **IIRC
  11. Bear here..... Harry the Honda is now all washed - that's a long morning I'll not be seeing again; I forgot just how long it takes to wash (even a clean to start with) Bike properly - and just how much I don't miss doing it...... Harry is now drying off in the (elusive) Sun, before I cover it up for beddybuys. I also discovered that Bear's outside drain that takes the rainwater off the rear roof elevations of two houses + two extensions is blocked 🤬 Rattin' Piggin' Turdycurses. That's a job for Bear sometime tomorrow. Poo. Bear gone.
  12. Try re-ordering it, but this time tick the "This is a Gift" tick box as they may just pack it properly (so as not to spoil the surprise). Might work - if it doesn't they can have it back again.....
  13. That's one Pig Ugly Mo'sickle...... Try this: managingdirector@amazon.co.uk
  14. Also the height would reduce during service due to the wheels being reprofiled due to wear and overhaul.
  15. Bear here..... Today's mission will be extracting Harry the Honda from the shed once more (assuming Buddy over the road appears to assist) and then giving Harry his first bath since (I think) 2003; Sun is predicted for much of the day so the chances of Harry drying nicely afterwards are looking hopeful. After that it's MIUABGAD - possibly more Harry-related tasks or maybe something completely different instead. Bear gone.
  16. Bear started volunteering on the 8th February this year, having never done it before; I've done 19 days so far and it's the very best decision I've made in a loooooooong time and I benefit hugely from it - in particular the social interaction whilst working with friendly, welcoming people (all are - bar none) who are always appreciative, as well as the physical exercise** too. I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone - pick a cause that's important to you and you find interesting and rewarding and give it a fair go; if it doesn't work out then there are plenty of others out there that'll be only too happy to receive your help. Oh yes, and don't worry about travel costs etc. as some (many?) will pay reasonable travel expenses if you need them. **Not in the best of health? No problem - there's such a variety of roles out there I'm sure you'll find something suitable.
  17. Bear here..... Several hours dismantling, cleaning & polishing Harry's 4 into 2 Exhaust System (well, those bits that aren't going to be sawn off); I've discovered that the chrome trim panels that disguise the areas where the two downpipes on each side join into one before entering the Silencer aren't going to fit without some sort of cleverness once the new Silencers are clamped on. Poo. Postie delivered the two clamps I'll need when fitting the new Silencers as well, so that's another Tick; the only thing awaited now is the new Oil, but that won't delay proceedings. Today's din dins was Bear's legendary, home-built Curly Fry Pizza. Huge Tick. Bear gone.
  18. Bear lives north of the Mickey two-five so that just goes to prove that iD's "sophisticated and urbane acquaintances" 🤣 were talkin' complete cobblers.......
  19. Bear never realised that so many were iffy for doggies; bacon is on the naughty list - though it seems small "treat" amounts are ok. https://burnspet.co.uk/nutrition-blog/10-human-foods-that-are-dangerous-to-your-pets/ Far, Far TMI....... 🤢 Bear's idea of Hell.....
  20. Perhaps it's about time he was found in Contempt of Court and sent down to spend a night in the Cells - a communal one shared with Pimps, Druggies and Pushers. And then he has to apologise to the Judge - or he'll get another go. Won't happen, or course - more's the pity; it might just do him some good. He needs a dose of Judge John Deed.
  21. Despite the increased cleverness of modern Avionic Systems the workload for Pilots flying single-seater aircraft must've shot up immensely compared to those with a Nav in the back seat. Thanks Dave - OP duly edited.
  22. Similar in the Aircraft Design Industry; one of the problems is that for systems requiring "dual redundancy" they get separate teams to design each one separately - but those teams went to the same teaching establishments and therefore think alike, meaning there's a risk they'll each make the same mistakes.
  23. When there was a Chinook Fly-past for the Aircrew** killed in the Mull of Kintyre crash, one of the Aircraft reported that their GPS Nav System was five miles out..... **Who were basically "hung out to dry" and used as scapegoats IIRC - I think that may have been corrected now, at least in part. Corrected - see below.
  24. That'll be the DDT....now't to worry about there then...... Materials prices have gone thru' the roof over the last couple of years; I have a buddy who's "in the game" and who gave a quote for an extension to someone - who then proceeded to suck thru' his teeth at the price and shop around for a cheaper quote. Six months later he came back, having discover that he'd already got the cheapest quote at the outset. When buddy then told him the quote was 6 months old and worthless - materials had gone up so much that he'd have to re-quote, at which point the guy was rather p1ssed off, to say the least. What sort of Bozo goes and does a dumb thing like that....oh, hang on - there is one..... The other cost that's increased dramatically is renting accommodation & Hotel rooms; these are costs that the insurance company picks up as well (limited to a year?) if the house isn't fit to live in. Bear's "Boss"** was on record as saying (several times, to different people) that "if you haven't got a Degree then you're not fit to be a Manager". Wottanarsehole. **The tw@t one, above the sensible (and much smarter & well-liked) one. Fortunately I had very, very little to do with him. iD could be onto something there.....I feel a Beary Challenge to iD approaching. Are you up to it? Incidentally, Bear's most favourite Ice Cream flavour (when done well) is Turkish Delight Ice Cream; first encountered many years ago at a seller kinda opposite (IIRC) the Magpie Chippy in Whitby. Sadly you see it very, very rarely.
