  1. Shop on eBay offering 3 of each for sale. Does not state they are pre order and gives the impression they will be delivered by the 8th Feb!

    Mark

I spotted that as well, as I recall the listing stated that three examples were “available”...

    Oh really.

Edit - listing now says “pre-order” only if you scroll down. Still says “available” at the start though...

  2. Had a similar issue with an item that arrived broken and with missing bits. Requested a return through the eBay process. Seller stated that Royal Mail tracking stated the item not yet delivered. I sent photos of the item as delivered and his packing slip that was in the box. He said that his staff were filmed packing the item and it was brand new when packed. I re-confirmed how it had arrived. He then said he had packed it himself and that he was going to report the matter to the police - this for a £15 item so the police would have dropped everything and rushed over... Raised it with eBay and they sent me a return label and the promise of a refund once it had been delivered back to the seller.

I think it was the seller’s belligerence that encouraged me to push through the whole eBay return process.

EBay will probably send you a label to print off and return the item.

    Cheers

  3. Has anyone who has received the Oxford Rail Mk3a tried to see whether a Hornby Mk3 body fits onto the detailed chassis of the Oxford Rail? I am curious to know.

Later in the year when the Oxford Rail Mk3 HST coaches are released, if the colours do not match my Hornby class 43 HSTs I would consider either:

    - swapping the entire chassis (oxford chassis onto a Hornby body)?

    - swapping the bogies. Has anyone tried popping off the Oxford Rail detailed bogie and fitting into the slot on the Hornby chassis?

    Thank you in advance.

Can’t speak about the chassis interchangeability but the bogies are secured with small Phillips head screws on the Oxford Mk3a.

    Cheers

  4. It looks like it's been dropped or rolled down a hillside!

And in the process lost its Cartazzi truck and two of the four axles in its three axle tender...

  5. I had a stint at Woomera in South Australia in 2002 and on a free day myself and a colleague took a Landcruiser and followed the remains of the old Ghan railway via Maree and William Creek. We got as far as Algebuckina Bridge before turning back to ensure that we got back to Woomera - or at least asphalt roads - by nightfall.

We were helped by a 1st Generation GPS that had recorded the route, which came in handy as we had misjudged nightfall and the GPS gave prior warning of upcoming bends in the dirt road.

I have some photos somewhere of that trip - I will see if I can dig them out.

The clear starlit sky in the Outback is stunning - I can still recall the sight of the Southern Cross as we headed south.

    Cheers

  6. Tell me about it, one of my Pensions is sitting with them, having had 13 years working for a Company they took over, I hope for my sake it gets sorted! Quite a few of my old colleagues are still there and pretty depressed, the atmosphere is not good.

    Peter

I have 23 years worth of pension in TPS (an engineering design consultancy owned by Carillion). I left to go freelance seven years ago so I am somewhat interested in the Company’s survival.

  7. Anyone else seen this nonsense -

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132372067143

Highlights: "Chassis has been shortened (cut back) at both ends by a previous owner" and "without any other fault that I can see" - well, I can see that the mid section is completely rotten from all the cracking and if the ends were "cut back" before they fell off by themselves I would be very surprised

£30 for a 2nd hand motor and some screws? no

Looking at the photos and the crazed paintwork on the metal casting are there signs of Mazak rot? That might explain why the “previous owner” cut the ends off...

  8. Hattons banner is still counting down, 45 minutes to go.

Then Bachmann will announce models of everything ever built without a current tool and we can all pop down to Mrs Miggins' pie shop for a celebratory Special Sausage Pie.

I hear that Mrs Miggins has baked an enourmous pie in the shape of a pie!!!

  9. This kit is older than I am but it went together nicely once the flash was cleaned off. I added tie downs from plasticard and wire handrails plus some home made decals.

Paint is Halfords spray on white primer sealed with Johnson’s Klear prior to decal application. The decals were sealed in with another coat of Klear followed by a matt varnish coat to finish.

  10. What is this thread about please?

Call me thick, but having read through it I am still clueless.

To try and understand it better you will have to read through the many pages of the (now closed) Coopercraft thread.

Having done so you may still be none the wiser and will most likely have a severe headache.

I recommend instead some active railway modelling - a much better use of time.

  11. Is that teutonic looking thing in the background just a bigger traction engine...

It’s a WW2 “Leopold” railway gun built from the Hasegawa kit. It may have loading gauge issues, especially with the gun elevated.

  12. Let it not be said that I do not take cognisance of constructive comments here on RMWeb.

A few seconds work with a razor saw on the chimbley and hey presto:-

  13. Among the 'etc.' is the need to saw through the ploughing engine's chimbley to bring it within gauge height. The joint near the base shows you where it would have detached or hinged in reality, for just this purpose.

Sawing through a chimbley - sounds eye watering.

  14. Here’s a Hornby (ex Airfix) Lowmac with an oversize load. Still need to add tie down chains etc.

  15.  The only real issue with both these wagons was lack of weight and consequent prone-ness (pronity, proneraltiy?) to derailments.

    PS Happy New Year

  16. As I see it there is a difference between Mr Bedford’s business model and Mr Coopercraft’s. The latter keeps a website running taking money for non-existent products whilst Mr Bedford is, at least, up front about his “expression of interest” deposit scheme.

This notwithstanding, I too am puzzled by Mr Bedford’s defence of Mr Coopercraft in the other thread.

It would be enlightening to know if any deposits have eventually been returned by Mr Bedford of does the expression of interest period stretch into decades?
