A fictional Eastpoint Station BR 1960's
calvin Streeting replied to calvin Streeting's topic in Layout topics
so over the canal i go.. and back to the old warehouse, took awhile to get colours right (i think nearly there but tin roof need to be lighter, and main slates need painting) its actually quite intresting how the colour of the windows (started black, and then cream) makes to the feel of it. the black was to much of a distraction for the eyes, and i prefer the cream the lower windows are boarded up after i took a visit to my favorite model timber yard "costalot of coffe" the boat is 10mm to low as someone let all the water out of canal. need a ghost sign on the chimney so next finish painting and canal edge wall and get these buildings in place an wired in and light up but i ran out of GLUE mmmm -
very nice

cool hope it helps.. was looking at boat to see if a cut of line (for model etc) so as to show enough for viewers to get idea, but not whole 4 foot of boat would be good to get to atleast the second deck, so the name would be visable. and the side boarding ramp in low relif .. but just ideas -

hi. nice layout, but can i ask about track, i am looking for tight radius turnouts and track for a small canal wharf area on my layout, Many thanks
-
This is as good as i can get aerial photo. the main test curve is about 5'5" radius.. and trucks seem to make it. The complex bit is tight turnouts and thats probably going to effect the radius (for the worse) at the moment i am still trying to work out the layout of track and building, as a warehouse in end section would be my plan, maybe viewable inside, form layout edge (bottom of photo) atm, any ideas , thoughts is always helpfull, but i love mirco layouts and want a kind of micro layout on the end of a bigger one. i am not even sure what goods etc yet
-
hi on one end of my layout i want to put a small yard (for HO/OO 0-4-0 loco's probably pushing a max of 2 trucks at a time) for simple shuting whilst the main layout runs in background. but i am having issues finding tight turnouts (as small a radius as pos), do people tend to build them or is there a good supplier etc.. trying to learn templot atm just in case i have to build etc, but my god thats complex (due to complex subject i fear) any help appreciated, as next q' is about rewire/remotor old 0-4-0's to make them run smother etc..

and some wisps of smoke (but dont set fire to layout) to help catch the light

whislt test running the 3d printer (it went funny and started to layer shift.. so needed another bodge.. kind of like mir this one ) i tied up the board and started work on the canal and yard... YAY TRAINS at last again... the incline is a bit steep. but as i wlill only be shunting 1 or 2 trucks up and down at a time, its fine (well test run worked. the yard will be cobbled, thats why yard office and pub sits a litter high kerb atm. need to reaearch yard , tight curve turnouts, and how to slow down 2 or more 0-4-0 's -
Interesting a out sound stuff. Trying to work out a many channel system for ambient sounds as background noise with event driven sounds for foreground (complex to explain) but if a train whistles during silence it will sound loud. But if during background noise it sounds quiter (we notice volume change slot.. from our primitive hunter gather days).. dose this make sence

Hi.. thanks I have worked in drafting offices since 14 or 15 (during school holidays) mostly architecture but also in engineering. Basically any thing from loft conversation. Schools, hospitals, then into designing playground equipment, and on ward to helicopter jet turbine engines (model ones ) but I do love to draw. :). Did you see what I ment about curved streets. I am trying to get things painted at mo. But I think brick is to dark atm But pub sign works ) -
Thanks.. for the info. I have also been playing with multi shot and relayering to get a bigger field of view (trying to remove the macro look) I don't like flash <-- yep its a big no no on model's much better to simply control the lights etc..

oooh where did you get those phone boxes from ?

HI All (didn't see there was a section for 3d printers) I use a crap, bodged, fixed and modified FDM printer to make parts for building (and other stuff) on my layout. but basicaly i draw and print kits and parts. for example the tower and stone work, footbridge, windows, and point rodding are pirnted but the stone walls are plasticard etc.. I thought i would post here as well as in layout section but concentrate on printer stuff here.. and
