  1. All-new Southern Railway CCT/PMV Utility Van, updated Class 45 'Peak' and a new batch of Class 52 'Westerns' unveiled to coincide with Gauge O Guild Guildex 2022 event on September 3/4. Guildex 2022 – New O gauge Announcements! September 3rd/4th sees the return of the Gauge O Guild’s Guildex event at its new venue in Stafford. We’re attending with a display of current projects, pre-production prototypes and more. We hope to see you there. To celebrate the return of Guildex after a three-year break, we’re announcing a trio of superb new O gauge projects for release in 2023/24. Firstly, in response to customer demand there will be a new batch of our ever-popular Class 52 ‘Western’ C-C diesel. Artwork for the rerun has been approved and we expect to receive factory decorated samples shortly, ahead of their release in early-2023. Suggested Retail Price is £619 (£639 factory weathered) Also much requested is our second new item; a fully revised and updated Class 45 ‘Peak’ with sealed beam nose ends, plug-and-play DCC interface and improved lighting features. The models will be available as steam heat Class 45/0 and Electric Heat Class 45/1 variants, the latter with the option of HI headlights for late-1980s modellers (OO models shown below). NEW! O Gauge Class 45/0 and 45/1 Models #4520 BR blue Class 45/0 unnumbered ERA 7/8 #4521 BR blue Class 45/0 45004 Royal Irish Fusilier ERA 7/8 #4522 BR blue Class 45/0 45033 ‘Sirius’ WEATHERED ERA 8 #4525 BR blue Class 45/1 unnumbered ERA 7/8 #4526 BR blue 45144 Royal Signals ERA 7/8 #4527 BR blue Class 45/1 unnumbered with HI headlight ERA 8 #4528 BR blue 45110 ‘Medusa’ with HI headlight WEATHERED ERA 8 #4529 Railtour Green 45106 with HI headlight ERA 8 First samples are due shortly and we expect these models to be released in Q3 2023. Standard features include an XL decoder interface, space for a large speaker and smoke unit, twin motors/flywheels, independently switchable cab, tail and headlights and superb fine detail throughout. Slightly later than promised, and sadly too late to be displayed at Guildex this weekend, the first EP samples of the new O gauge Class 45s have arrived in Denmark today. And yes, we know the HI headlight on the nose end is wonky! It will be fitted with more care on future samples. Suggested Retail Price is £629 (£649 weathered editions). Finally, our third new item expands our range of O gauge rolling stock with two classic Southern Railway vehicles that enjoyed eight decades of service. The closely related SR Parcels & Miscellaneous Van (PMV) – also known as a Passenger Luggage Van or PLV - and Covered Carriage Truck (CCT) can trace their origins back to the South Eastern & Chatham Railway, but construction continued until the early-1950s with BR. As the prototype was built across numerous batches with even planked bodies and doors, uneven planked bodies and doors and plywood body panels, our model is being designed to depict a wide range of variations across the fleet. It will appeal to Southern and BR era modellers with a timespan reaching from the 1920s to the 2000s. And, as the real things reached every corner of the BR network, almost every layout will be able to find a home for these versatile and distinctive utility vans. Suggested Retail Price will be £249 (£269 weathered editions). NEW! 2. Wonderful flowing trackwork and superb running, love it Laurie!
  3. I can see you haven't run the integration script. Please make sure you follow all of the four steps in the first post of this topic.
  4. Therein lies the problem, it all depends which way round you held the device when you took the photo. It should be ok if you keep the device shutter button on the right.

    EBay madness

If only people knew where to look.
  6. My issue with these is that they've made stuff all difference to cats and pigeons getting over or sitting on the fence.
  7. There's no point trying to assist you if that's the attitude. You asked for solutions and starting points have been given. Either do what's been suggested or get in touch with the retailer. I'm done.
  8. Go and measure them, ideally with a micrometer. They should be 14.4 - 14.5mm, if they are not then adjust them.
  9. What is the back to back measurement on each of the tender wheelsets?

  11. Tut, model railways never look right with lurid continental coloured static grass. 🤩
  12. It's a longer version of this with some additional rollers. https://tencommandmentsmodels.co.uk/product/rolling-road-oo-ho-compact/
  13. You don't have to have a Facebook account, you can view it the same anyone else.
  14. If you need any further distraction https://www.footplate.co.uk/ is quarter of a mile down the hill from Kiddy station. There's a well-stocked model/book/gift shop on the station too.
  15. You may have already seen the timetable for the gala weekend https://www.svr.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/SVR-Autumn-Steam-Gala-Timetable-Updated-15082022.pdf but check back nearer the time as it will usually say what locos are operating each train which may guide your movements. It'll be a busy weekend of course but I would recommend heading for the King & Castle pub or the tearooms and pick up some delicious cheese and onion or ham rolls and munch you way through those on the train and if you reach Bridgnorth the Railwayman's arms is the other catering to aim for. Rather than trying to cram too much in it's worth taking your time and maybe stop off at Highley and walk over to the Engine House museum and after a look around sit on the balcony if the weather's OK (more food and cake) and watch the comings and goings and you'll see plenty with trains no more than 30 mins apart. I love sitting there and hearing whistles echo around the valley and a clear elevated view of the stock. Fingers crossed you get the weather as it's a really enjoyable day out. Bonus I-Spy points for elephants en-route.
  16. OK, you win the 'added for dramatic effect' award for the day; just when I was trying to bring some balance to the generalisation.
  17. Any evidence for the sweeping statement? I don't know of any specific cases, personally, where a long term tenant was forced out prematurely but I know of many who continued to live in estate properties (continuing to pay rent of course) until they move to retirement accommodation or die; whichever occured first. That's from experience. They may have found the accommodation, and the landlord, less than ideal but country folk were rarely daft enough to be lured by streets paved with chip wrappers and tin cans. With increased agricultural mechanisation there was less of a need for labour and hence tied accommodation leading to estate asset disposal or letting to non-staff. Save the offence for subjects better understood.
  18. Thatched roofs didn't cause poverty but cost-cutting resulted in thatched roofs; low-cost local materials and labour. The first part may be correct but not for the reason given. Most workers were employed by local landowners (notoriously niggardly) in tied housing (with as little spent on them by said landlord). Enlightenment came, in scale, from Quaker industrialists whilst agriculture has been generally lagging a century behind until grants and finance only became more accessible a generation and a bit ago.
  19. It's a point that the guides make on tours (particularly to children); rural poverty and lack of amenities. In nighttime mode the point is made about candlelight and moonlight.
  20. I'd have said that was your intent - which PMP was questioning further as you were taking the topic further into socio-economic cul-de-sacs. Keep it relevant please.
  21. Whereas you only need a few seconds on a keyboard to communicate what you are. Wind the typical ill-informed and ill-considered 'outraged on Facebook' attitude in please.
  22. They're still out in the wild. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/profile/362323-bradford-boy-56f/content/
  23. I prefer to travel First on one rather than Second on a Pendolino to the smoke even if it takes a little longer. Generally cheaper too.
