  1. Hi All, I am experiencing problems accessing the Cavalex Models website. Error message simply states 'not found'. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I am not on Facebook. Just looking for an update on the 4mm PGA's. Any feedback most welcome.
  2. Don't mind me asking, but why did you decide not to buy?
  3. So here it is, my very first A4 - the Mallard 80th limited edition anniversary pack (R3612). The locomotive has gold plated running gear & also included in the pack is a wooden plinth to display this fine A4 as well as a reproduction plaque confirming the 126mph world speed record. I have always been a sucker for a 'bit of bling' but this is part of our history & heritage, after all, we gave railways to the world. I am not sure I will run this but the the whole pack has been put together well & looks absolutely stunning. In my humble opinion 10/10 (& that's from a Diesel & electric fan!). Go check it out.....
  4. In response to the title of this topic 'how many Hornby A4's do you have?' I can confirm currently I have never had an A4 as being a 'modern image' modeller (what does this really mean? Where would Tornado fit?) this is outside my modelling time line as the period I am looking to replicate in model form is 1986 - 96. However, applying Rule 1 - It is my model railway I run what I like, & having so far managed to resist the many temptations that have been provided over the years, this is about to change........
  5. Hi All, My Bachmann class 47 'Sir Daniel Gooch' in GWR 150th anniversary lined green livery arrived yesterday courtesy of Cheltenham Model Centre - thank you. I haven't had a chance to chip it yet or add the front end detail or even apply any weathering (light dust brake to the bogies & exhaust stain to the roof) but thought I would share an image here. Enjoy.
  6. Hi All, Further to my recent post on 7th May, I contacted Gaugemaster last Friday & spoke to Craig about my Prodigy Advance problem (no display showing on the handset). We went through a few scenarios over the phone but to no avail so it was suggested I return this back to them for further investigation. A week later & my PA has been returned. I set this up this evening & all is now working as it should. And the best bit..... the repair was free of charge. Excellent customer service. Thank you Gaugemaster.
  7. Second payment made. Although I haven't seen these 'in the flesh', I think the recent images really show this PGA to good effect Can't wait to receive these.& then (fingers crossed) on with the BBA.......
  8. BBA for me. As stated previously, lots of variety here.
  9. Hi All, I understand that given time, Oxford will be bringing out a variety of liveries on their superb Mk3 coaches. Has anyone heard anything about the Royal coaches & when these will be produced & as a footnote, will the Queen's carriage 2903 have the double doors as per the prototype? Questions, questions....
  10. Hi, Any feedback from Gaugemaster on this as I had the very same problem this morning (flickering green power light & blank on the handset). I changed the lead to the handset & thought I had solved the problem as all started to work again but when I went back later in the day I had the same problem. Interested to hear your feedback. Thanks.
  11. Some interesting options listed. As stated previously the PTA (variety of liveries & wide geographic spread) would be mutually beneficial to both modellers & these enterprising chaps taking this on. I do like the idea of the Yeoman PHA but this doesn't have such diversity &!maybe a consideration for Dapol & their pending class 59. Is it worth reaching out to Dapol to qualify this?
  12. Harvey at the Hobby Shop in Faversham recently moved to a new premises which is literally around the corner from the original Store that his father set up nearly 30 years ago. This larger shop enables even more stock to be displayed - a real Aladins cave. If you are ever in the area, I would strongly recommend you pay a visit, you won't be disappointed. & if you are not able to visit in person...... the website is regularly updated with new stock all the time. Enjoy!
  13. Hi All, Has anyone actually purchased & installed the new Hornby TTS sound Decoder for the class 47? I have a couple of Bachmann loco's waiting to be fitted, but I have heard murmurings about the quality..... How realistic is the sound? I realise it won't compare to the 'top of the range' sound fitted loco's but are these a reasonable representation of what a class 47 should sound like? I look forward to your feedback.
  14. . As an aside, I travelled back from South Wales to Paddington today & had my first class 800 experience & I have to say 'very impressed'. It seems the niggles have been ironed out as the journey was smooth & quiet. It was also noticeable how quickly these units accelerate (similar to the Javalin, also manufactured by Hitachi as well). I guess these will be in squadron service for a few decades now.
  15. Likewise I have been advised the Railtrack version is also planned for a December release. Fingers crossed as this was going to be my Xmas present.....
  16. Any idea of era when this particular wagon operated?
  17. Hi All, Slightly off topic but I was at the 'War & Peace' show yesterday. Attached some images of some WW2 vehicles which may help some modellers out there with livery application, weathering etc. As an aside - if you get achance to visit one of these events, I would strongly recommend it.
  18. Hi, Bachmann have updated their 21 pin Decoder to their new 36-557. My question is what is the difference between the original 36-554 & the new 36-557? I look forward to your responses.
  19. Today I have ordered the Railtrack version which is the Hatton's limited edition (of 300). Advised this should be available around Sept/Oct. Really looking forward to this.
  20. Hi Ragtag, I thought I had seen the class 37 at the front of a MOD train but couldn't remember where. As a regular subscriber to Rail Express that must be where I saw it. The warriors are 1:72 scale & are supplied as a diecast vehicle pre-painted. On the box there are a couple of brand names - Easy Model & Modern Ground Armour. I picked these up on Amazon for around 12 quid each from memory earlier in the year. These are also available in 'desert sand' & also white. Hope this helps.
  21. Hi All, Thought I would share an image showing my rake of Warwells now loaded with Warriors in my fiddle yard. Unfortunately, I haven't had an opportunity to make a cradle for the tanks to sit on & not yet 'strapped' these down. The Mainline Class 37 may not be prototypical but the 2 Bachmann. VGA & VDA vans at the rear finish of the rake nicely. Question - when the Warrior are transported is their a preference (or not) in what direction they should be facing?
  22. Hi All, My 5 Warwell wagons turned up today. I deceided to go for the olive - weathered 1990's version & very impressive they look too. Now waiting for the Bachmann class 47 in original railfreight grey livery which should be out late this year or early next.
  23. Hi All, My 5 Hatton's Warwell wagons arrived today & very good they look too. I went for the weathered 1990's version. Recommended. Colin.
  24. Just paid my deposit. Really looking forward to these.....
