  1. I'm quite happy to be a bit out of the norm with this and have a stacking area between the ship and rail, even stretching the time span a fair bit. It's the idea of ship to train (and trucks to a lesser degree), having several cranes constantly feeding the trains and obviously reloading at a later time. Warren Lane was my inspiration for this with my little twist of a container ship to unload and load.
  2. Love some input on this idea, what stock would suit the situation for the last ten years, what formations are required and the locos to pull them. Also there will be a single main line running through to keep things flowing, so an idea on passenger traffic would help. I'm not sure on the area yet to narrow it down, but it will possibly be south west ish.
  3. have you asked your neighbours if they've had a card posted by mistake
  4. Hi everyone, not much to say at this point but the seeds have been sown and the idea has been set. What i'm attempting is an intermodal depot at a port with loading and unloading of containers from a ship to rail. It will be in 4mm scale with locos having traction motors and on board power. It will be run on DCC with a difference, DCC AIR.
  5. I'm a self confessed sugar fanatic, i don't drink hot drinks so my liquid intake is mainly pop. One thing i've noticed in A**A, they've removed a lot of their full sugar drink range in favour of diet varieties. What i find odd is the cloudy lemonade full sugar was a mega seller for them, often i would find empty space on the shelves if i shopped late for it. Next to the empty space would be a full stock of diet cloudy lemonade every time, so something is up as i can't see a**a stopping a line that outsells it's diet brother.
  6. this seems to work with all the scam calls. When answering the call you say, " you've been transferred to the National Fraud Helpline, what company are you calling from" They don't bother you again. PS. one of my mates works for a bank, and he called me from work with one of those usual numbers reserved for ppi type calls. So i went into the routine and he roared laughing, obviously recognising my voice. He said that's the best one he's ever heard.
  7. looking to upgrade to a resin printer from my fla prusa clone, what is the largest print you can produce on your printer. Just found the spec 120, 68, 200.
  8. try a more responsible company like rs, farnell, and possibly rapid. maplin are well known for not giving info on the products they sell.
  9. there is another viewpoint to consider and that is very few people care whether they go through a railway crossing red flashing light, but most if not all will stop at a camera covered red traffic light.
  10. proper traffic lights and traffic cameras would go a long way to reducing the problems
  11. if the seller is an ebay power seller be prepared or a bit of a battle. I bought a pallet full of dell small form computers and they did not arrive with power supplies, so i contacted the supplier and asked where they were and they said there aren't any. You can't actually use the machine without the specific dell psu which is only supplied with the machine. After a few weeks of farting around with the seller i gave him an ultimatum to give me a refund or i would put in a claim through ebay. Needless to say nothing came from the seller so i opened the case with ebay and within 5 minutes i got a call from him trying to give me crap because i opened a case against him. Anyway i had a really hard job to get ebay to take this further, with ebay fighting me every chance they could. After they were returned ebay asked me for a delivery signature even though this wasn't requested by them initially and said no signature no refund, a last ditched attempt by ebay to get out of this. Luckily the courier was a company i use pretty regularly so one phone call sorted it out and a copy of the signature was emailed to me. The company actually denied having the delivery even though i had a signature to prove they had it. There are some dodgy people out there and a fair few in ebay.
  12. you don't need the "raft" feature on, a "skirt" will guarantee you get the flow started ok.
  13. my local 3d guy said he wouldn't buy pla if it came unsealed.
  14. when i first had my 3d printer i used the yellow/orange tape to coat the bed that came with the printer, and it was pretty good but tore a few times. Recently i bought a stick on mat by Buildtak, and this grips the print pretty well. PS. i have a heated bed
  15. i used fillamentum pla extrafill in traffic black
  16. Because we cannot trust an insurance company to be honest and lawful.
  17. acetone definitely melts pla, i've joined printed pieces at high stress points, which have stayed firmly stuck together. i've not printed with abs yet
  18. i've bonded pla to pla using acetone with good results. Be careful though use it sparingly
  19. with these clones you either get them with acme leadscrews on the z or threaded rod. It's priced about right for leadscrews, but expensive if not. I bought my i3 prusa clone for £235 but i needed to add a couple of linear bearings to make it accurate.
  20. remember guys, the house is their domain, your place is the shed. That's why she lets you have one.
  21. yes you're right it is a Well pharmacy ( i had to go and look) funny how it's stuck in my mind as the Co-op.
  22. Having built a p4 layout from c&l track and experienced how good it is and how good it looks, i often wince when i see code 100 trackwork, but each to their own. i take my hat off to Peco, surviving in this hobby for so long when others have disappeared, that is a major achievement and i hope they get the best support from us. This code 75 trackwork has been a long time coming and will transform the visual appearance of many layouts to come.
