  1. As above. I've had an email saying my contact details have been transferred to rails (which they already had but not linked to any pre-orders) but nothing on the genesis coaches since the last email from Hattons (stating rails are taking over the pre-orders and will update me in the 'near future'.
  2. In all honesty I'm just looking forward to having a set to run. I don't have the time or skill to make these coaches from kits (and I have always been in awe of those who can and do!) Also at a scale 126mph I doubt many people are actually reading the coach numbers 😉
  3. They were coaches from one of the coronation sets - see pictures in the following link showing the 'coronation' lettering on both sides: https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/objects/co8052664/hoather-collection-photographs
  4. They do look good so far, I'm presuming the 'fairing' on the brake ends are swappable from one end to the other (see screenshots below). Also I know these are only running samples but did anyone else notice the coaches jump as they went over the points at 13:00 - 13:05? Hopefully that gets sorted before general release 🤞🏻
  5. If I'm correct then I understand the question but can't give an answer (not part of the test team etc) Basically does this work the same as the Dynamis where if you take your handset (read app and dongle) to someone else's railway you have to use their base station address roster? I *guess* it *may* work if the decoders are being operated in Bluetooth mode (same as connecting other Bluetooth items to a phone - it uses whichever one is correct/you have selected) however not sure if having two of the same number will affect that? As said I've not been involved with any of the testing etc so purely speculation but hopefully someone else can confirm/deny?
  6. Similarly to you I've used Revelle plastic cement before because of the fine metal tube however in my (admittedly limited) modelling experience the glue itself doesn't seem to 'bite' enough to hold whatever is being glued while it sets. Considering that you've done a good job of that kit, I model in 00 and struggle with the size of some kit parts (I wouldn't even try in N!) Also if it helps I've had a go at fitting sprung buffers and 3 links to some mineral wagons recently (00) and although mostly successful the swear jar is getting pretty full!
  7. Lots of information to respond to (all appreciated - I'm learning a fair amount just by reading responses) so here goes: My basis for the 20 lever frame was two-fold: 1. The ratio signal box interior kit has a 20 lever frame out the box 2. Based on the signal diagram from Aylestone (not Aylesbury - not sure where I got that from!) which had a 20 lever frame installed but only 6 levers in use Is there a more appropriate symbol for this signal? Or is this signal not required (I added it with the thought of having the next box after the tunnel and for variation as otherwise I'm unlikely to have a distant signal anywhere on the layout) I have multiple ratio interior kits so am happy to do some modifying of parts to achieve this, just need to find an appropriate reference image to work from (if anyone has one to hand it would be appreciated, if not then I'm sure Google will provide!)blockquote widgetblockquote widget
  8. Thanks for all responses so far. I shall change the signal box to a line and dot (I had seen those but wasn't sure on the reasoning, now it makes sense!) and the 'Spaces' to 'Spares'. The signal box itself is a model of the current box at Rothley so the frame will be towards the front of the box - hence the numbering sequence. Supplimentary question - would it be possible to print this to fit a ratio signal box interior yet still keep some of the detail? I'm guessing it is possible (it is possible to obtain posters etc with readable detail!) but my home printer would have no chance of anything that fine.
  9. Hi all, As the title says really, I've drawn up a signal box diagram for one of the boxes on the layout in my dad's loft and was hoping some of the more knowledgeable members on here may be willing to point out any errors/omissions for me? For context I've attached pictures of the run of track the box would cover as well as the diagram I've drawn up. I have not yet placed all the signals as I wanted to get this right first. Thanks in advance 🙂 Diagram put together using signalbox diagrams from Belgrave and Birstall, Aylestone and Carrington stations on the gcr as references: Signal box location and track to right side of diagram: Signal box and track to left side of diagram:
  10. Not sure if anyone else noticed (or cared) but the 2024 update states these are due for August - hopefully this turns out to be true as that's my birthday month 🤞🏻 Also the observation car (R40227), the double open first (R40224) and the brake 3rd/kitchen 3rd (R40223) are all available to pre-order on Hornbys website but the other pair of twins (R40225/6) are nowhere to be seen (even when searching the catalogue numbers).
  11. Fair comment however it is possible to find one for less elsewhere. Also agree on the front bogie attachment (my new Empire of India A4 has something similar fitted and the front coupling has irons moulded onto it - see attached picture): Also having looked at the other main manufacturers prices £200+ seems to be where tender engined locomotives are currently settled (based on prices for their standard 4mt, 5mt, LMS 4p, GCR D11 and secr D class all being in the same ball park)
  12. I've recently received my Empire of India model and can confirm it has the "flickering firebox" LED fitted. I didn't see a speaker in the tender however it is a 21 pin decoder so may be in the locomotive itself (but not had the body off to check/confirm). It does however have a driver and fireman in the accessory bag which is a nice touch. R.E the coronation coaches, I'm really looking forward to these as I also have the centenary Sir Nigel Gresley to share the running rights with E.O.I (as pictured):
  13. **off topic advice warning** 3d printing is definitely a possibility, if you can make the enclosure on a 3d printing programme anything is possible. I'm by no means an expert but have made all sorts from scratch including the cylinder for a 1/14 rc showmans engine I'm building: you would need to measure the space available (and space required for the speaker/any wiring to fit into enclosure) then draw up a shape on a computer to make a file. Im happy to have a go if you want? Just drop me a message 👍🏻
  14. This is something I'll need to do to mine, may I ask what you used/did you just glue them on?
  15. Useful information to know, I'll have to source some fluted connecting rods at a later date as both have already been posted (78054 returned for a refund, 78047 for renumbering and other works 🤫) but thanks for the heads up.
