  1. Please, as soon as you feel up to it, please rescue another dog. He (she?) will not replace Kerry but fill a hole in your heart and save the dog. I swore that I would never have another cat after Tyger crossed the bridge, but on the way back from the Columbia (SC) train show about a year or so later I stopped at the Fairfield County animal shelter and ended up with Wingnut: As I told friends: "I came back from the train show with a machine gun and a cat." No one asked about the gun, only about the cat!
  2. Been there, done that with my previous listening buddy Tyger. It is never easy.
  3. Afternoon owl from a very windy Piedmont. A totally lazy day for me.
  4. Night owl from slightly drier Piedmont.
  5. Late afternoon/almost evening owl from a very pi$$ingly wet Piedmont; oh, and my river is back! I got back from the income tax preparation folks and will get some modeling tokens, more than I expected! At first the refund showed $1900!!!; I knew that was very wrong and upon review, she found a number entered in the wrong box. After correction, the refund amount dropped quite a bit to a level that I expected. Oh well, electronically filed and now I will just sit back and wait for the direct deposit to show up. Yesterday was even better, my mortgage company called with an offer that will save me about a hundred buck each month, the offer is legitimate and I will go for it.
  6. Trolley? They have trolleys in a supermarket??
  7. The neighbor behind me in Florida was one of the soldiers evacuated from Dunkirk. Unfortunately he would never talk about it other than to say that he was there,
  8. No, the original Star Drek was bad enough.
  9. The one time that I used Google Maps to find a friend's house in Chambersburg, PA, it had the house (address, actually) across the street and about a thousand feet to the east. What was really there was a very large water storage tank (several hundred thousand gallons worth). And, no, he did not live in it!
  10. That is all right, I read it as Latvian!
  11. Can't be, I am the only normal one!! 13 hours ago, BR60103 said: Mr Bach: How do they pronounce "Piedmont" around there? PEEd mont is the way that I hear it pronounced here, I learned it that way in a different part of the country.
  12. Another nice night owl from a decidedly warm Piedmont.
  13. Night owl from a damp Piedmont.
  14. Czech out the expression on the face of the driver of the baggage tractor!
  15. Not quite all, I do have several: These are being run on a friend's HO layout: But we had an oops when using the turntable :
  16. Night owl from the Piedmont.
  17. There is not enough money in the world to make me climb up that thing!
  18. The few items (mostly Bachmann Class 66s) that I won from the UK have been shipped via the Royal Mail small air parcel and have arrived here in ten to fourteen days with no problems and at a reasonable cost.
  19. Nice. Strange, I do not like the NS that much but their R line (Columbia, SC to Charlotte, NC) is 350 feet from my back door so I do hear a lot of activity. I can not see the trains due to the trees but the trees stay. Maybe someday a wireless video camera will be installed. Two comments: 1. I got the Union Pacific 4141 George Bush in two-rail O scale; I presume that yours is HO. 2. What brand is that "test track"? It looks adjustable enough to do O.
  20. Morning owl from a sunny Piedmont. That swing-span moveable bridge is quite impressive, thank you for posting the picture. I have not been very active lately, mainly due to a terminal case of "lazys" Hopefully that will be changing.
  21. Nite owl from a rather cold (for me) Piedmont.
  22. Where is the "groan" button when it is really needed!!
  23. Of all the things that I have lost over the years, I miss my mind the most.
