  1. Did something like that really exist?
  2. Actually the "ant' is a cake decoration!!!! that I got from a grocery store bakery. Good catch, one of my favorite movies.
  3. I do not care about what era it is,: Or even what goes on: See, I admit to every modelling crime there is; even an extra rail!
  4. Good morning owl from a soon-to-be-damp Piedmont.
  5. Good night owl from the Piedmont.
  6. I have his "condensed" one-volume WW2 book "MEMOIRS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR". I find it a hard read, his writing style is different to what I am used to.
  7. Good morning owl from the Piedmont. I have a T-shirt that shows: I AM NOT LAZY I JUST LIKE DOING NOTHING That is my plan for today, other that reading more of Manchester's THE LAST LION WINSTON S. CHURCHILL ALONE 1932 - 1945 I have all three volumes and have finished the first; the third awaits my finishing of this one. A couple of more weeks of reading.
  8. Hmmm, I had lunch at the Cyclone today. It is a restaurant here in Chester, SC. Hmmm, orange marmalade, my favorite. I bought a small ($1.00) jar at KJ's a while back and when I got it home, I discovered that it was from China!!! It did not taste just right; oh, it was good but not like real marmalade should taste. Now to shut up and say good night from the Piedmont.
  9. Nice RS-3, Weaver or Atlas? As to "careful driving"; this sign was installed on a Monday, hit sometime before Wednesday afternoon, I took the photo the following Sunday, and surprisingly it was replaced the next day (Monday)::
  10. Good night owl from the Piedmont. I have read some very interesting threads today, especially about airplanes, airlines, and flying experiences both civil and military. Thanks all for posting them.
  11. Sometimes I am lucky enough to get beyond taking it out of the box to examine it.
  12. And on the Wiregrass Central in southeast Alabama:
  13. Night owl from a soon to be cold Piedmont. I once saw a taxiing Concorde at Dulles International; it was LOUD! Also saw/watched a Vulcan do a high-speed/low-elevation fly-by right over the runway; he then came around again in the same configuration, lit the fires, and stood it on its tail and left very abruptly. I did not know that the Vulcan was even there as he was on the NATO/Greek Air Force side of the Souda Bay, Crete air base. The USN had a small detachment on the opposite side of the field. Interesting sidebar: there is a photo of a Luftwaffe JU-52 going down in flame behind a hill; I am almost sure that hill was the one that was about a mile from hangar (also built by the Luftwaffe). The one behind this hangar: Hmmm, I was saying good night and then I ramble on and on!! So, now, GOOD NIGHT OWL.
  14. I found out that the G&W unit was just out of the paintshop a few days before I shot the photo in West Pelzer, SC.
  15. Who says everything HAS to be weathered:
  16. A similar one near the Ft. Lauderdale, FL airport:
  17. That reminds me of a T-shirt that I saw: Front: "THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF SHIPS: SUBMARINES ..." Back: "AND TARGETS" I wish now that I had gotten one even though I served on an aircraft carrier.
  18. Morning owl from an overly warm (for the season) Piedmont. Off to lunch at Gene's and a new (to me) 2m/70cm antenna. The loco above looks like a US export model, ALCo or maybe GE; I like it, especially as it appears to be narrow-gauge.
  19. Night owl from a dark Piedmont.
  20. Morning owl from a cloudy Piedmont. Two more airports that deal with water: Washington National and the Potomac River, Portland Oregon and the Columbia River.
  21. I followed this for awhile in west Texas a couple of years ago:
