Hi Dave & Russ, Dave... I'm reading , I was waiting till you got to the Shoebeams ( aka height limiting bar ) and their attachment, whats the problem if it aint the twin shoe issue. I also think that the new way the system works wil cause a slowdown in replys and reading until people are up to speed - I'm still floundering around the DOT 4 version myself Russ, I was aware that the shoebeam ( aka height limiting bar ) on REP's had a pair of shoes ... I would have just cut off the 'Nub' that represents the sincle shoe to allow for better running with third rail , Paul Wade removed the 'shoe' from the 'beams' on all TWY units to avoid any catching in the gaps or forcing the bogie up if there was a rise in the " Juice Rail " that didn't correspond with the running rails exactly. My , almost finished, NR GLV's have had the shoe removed off of the underside of the Shoe Beam on the SR MK4 power bogie and BR(s)1 bogie from the inner end to avoid this problem. I've got a VEP to do some where and was tempted by the REP to go with my TC, makes a change from the usual 33/1 Mike

Using the Three foot viewing rule and watching the posted video, quite a few people would be "reasonably content" or, dare I say it, "happy" with these models, the MBA pictures on the Bachmann site are very nice and I 'can' understand the dismay being posted here by a section of the modelling community, Horses for Courses of course The price for the Dapol MBA's is currently Approx ??18.00 with most of the larger mailorder houses and advertisers in the Mags. the possible posted price for the Bachmann is ??20.25 and Will rise I suspect when the final product arrives .. mainly due to the fact that VAT is due to rise on 1st Jan back to 17.5% ... making the MBA's a minimum of ??21.00 List and possibly greater ... in the end , as Beast is basically alluding to " you have a choice, you pays your money, you enjoy your purchase " I whole hartedly aggree with the above statement .. there are ways of saying things and then there are ways of saying things .... Finnaly, as to will or won't Bachmann will produce a MCA/MDA model to go with the forthcoming MBA and MOA, I supose if there was enough of a demand for the higher detailed and priced item, don't discount it, making money is making money after all . However unless MCA/MDA's going to replace the MOA model then expect it to be a good few years away yet . Mike

Hi Phil. The wagons were 21t ferry highs, as you thought. Later the remaining wagons became OJA's and were used in Speedlink services, recieveing Red/Grey and boxed 'Railfreight' Branding. Originally built to Dia 1/055, from lot 2851, @ Lancing in 1957. They were numbered B715020 - B715039 - 20 wagons in total. They were built with dual brakes and had a sheet support rail as well as the usual UIC Ferry fitments. These wagons were replaced by the PTA 88t bogie side tipping twin box 'Thompson's Mag Lime'/'Carnegie's Montrose' in 1985 I suspect(?), which used rail service between Aberdeen Ferryhill and Montrose. AFAIK the only two left are now Private Owners with the GWS and are used to bring in Loco Coal to the GWS at Didcot, now numbered GWS5267/5268, ex B715024 and 1715029. The GWS gained ownership of these two wagons in 1989 IIRC. HTH Mike

I thought I'll post that ... but first I'll check it out on the SP website... Well no luck, P198a doesn't exist B*M! So I did a little navigation ... and found .................. TA DA! P 358 Shoebeams & Support brackets & dampers for B4/B5 sideframes (white metal) (pr) 1.75 P 358a Shoebeams & Support brackets & dampers for B4/B5 sideframes (white metal) (4 Car Set) 4.50 So there you go Dave, much easier that faffing about with the earlier posted idea.
